In Defense of Jonathan Joestar

Spoilers ahead for Phantom Blood and parts of Battle Tendency!

In a series full of bizarre action and unique characters, Jonathan tends to fall more neatly into typical shounen tropes, but in no way does this make him a flat character! I’ll admit that at first I wasn’t particularly fond of Jonathan either, but after rereading Phantom Blood, he’s now one of my favorite characters in the entire series. I’d like to try and explain a little about why.
