What being chronically ill feels like:
Found this explanation and comparison to be spot on: “ Endometriosis is to period pain what "HG" is to morning sickness. “
And there are those who suffer from both, I among them. Oh the happiness. *so much sarcasm*
me: damn, anxiety is really fucking my life up
Person Who Does Not Have Anxiety: STOP BEING ANXIOUS, YOUR LIFE WILL BE SO MUCH EASIER :-) JUST DO WHAT YOU WANT IN LIFE, DON’T LET A SILLY THING LIKE ANXIETY STOP YOU!!
me: wow, i owe my life to you i am cured
When the doctor gets a basic fact about my disease wrong...
a helpful pain scale for people who have difficulty with doing body inventory or quantifying pain
0-10 Scale of Pain Severity
10 - Unable to Move I am in bed and can’t move due to my pain. I need someone to take me to the emergency room to get help for my pain.
9 - Severe My pain is all that I can think about. I can barely talk or move because of the pain.
8 - Intense My pain is so severe that it is hard to think of anything else. Talking and listening are difficult.
7 - Unmanageable I am in pain all the time. It keeps me from doing most activities.
6 - Distressing I think about my pain all of the time. I give up many activities because of my pain.
5 - Distracting I think about my pain most of the time. I cannot do some of the activities I need to do each day because of the pain.
4 - Moderate I am constantly aware of my pain but I can continue most activities.
3 - Uncomfortable My pain bothers me but I can ignore it most of the time.
2 - Mild I have a low level of pain. I am aware of my pain only when I pay attention to it.
1 - Minimal My pain is hardly noticeable.
0 - No Pain I have no pain.
Oh my god. I’m in a world of pain, and the SMALLEST things are upsetting me so much. Would be totally ok with dying right now.
An odd problem. Pregnant in week 34, and I’ve started having tons of sporadic Braxton Hicks contractions. Do they hurt? Well, here’s the thing. I THINK, I don’t know, they kinda feel like they could be those “normal” menstruation pains healthy people are feeling.
So when my hubby asks if I’m in pain as I grumble I go: “Well, not really, but maybe a little? What even is this?!”
I can’t really say that it hurts, just because I’ve felt worse. I think the experience of 12-13 years with endometriosis has screwed up my view of pain regarding all other kind of pain except endo. Feels like I forgot how to be human or something.
#068 - Everyone and their mother has at least one piece of unsolicited advice for you, guaranteed.
#070 - Hiding emergency meds everywhere (submitted by finnishmctdcase)
Why do anything half-assed?
WHEN YOU TELL YOUR FRIENDS YOU’RE FINE AND THEY DON’T BUY IT
#006 -Yes, I can see you’re judging me for taking the elevator one floor. No, I don’t care.
“Cheer up” means, “don’t feel the way you do.” It’s not the same as, “I’m sorry to hear that.” Or, “Can I do anything to help?” Or even, “I hope you feel better soon.” It might even mean “I don’t want to hear about it.”
