To create art is to kill oneself slowly.

Like the opposite of an eraser.

Creating instead of removing, but still wearing down over time just the same.

Scheming, shaping, sharing, scraping...

The pallete knife begins to mix the colors into a mimicry of your soul.

Every brush stroke leaves behind another piece of you for the world to see.

Scrape scrape scrape goes the pallete knife.

Brush brush brush goes the 2 inch.

Scrape scrape scrape.

Brush brush brush.

Scraping a little bit more off of you and mixing it in to the paints.

Brushing the concoction onto a new skin made of canvas.

The paint is no longer pigments. Instead, you've poured your life's blood onto the pallete.

You are no longer painting. You are stitching together a new body made from pieces of yourself.

One that is made from colors and lines instead of bones and flesh.

And slowly but surely, as you unravel your own yarn, you knit yourself into the shades on your mural.

But unlike an eraser, something is left behind when you finally run out.

Amidst the shavings of you on the ground is something new.

Because you are doing so much more than just imortalizing something in art.

You're imortalizing yourself.
