#Repost @sartorialjournal ・・・ It’s not often we see overcoats cut with notch lapels in the realm of sartorialsm - typically they’re confined to some form of peak lapel owing to a double breasted configuration - such is the purpose of the overcoat in sheltering one from inclemencies. Cut from a grey herringbone cloth, this Manolo Costa (@manolocostanewyork) crafted overcoat features both a double breasted closure and a notch lapel - albeit a wide sweeping one - a combination that is perhaps considered a fashion faux pas by many. In this instance however, it signifies the confluence of Manolo’s creative, design driven flair and the more ‘conservative’ world of bespoke tailoring - an industry traditionally defined by more ‘rigid’ constructs in terms of ‘fashion'. Despite presenting itself as a quirky amalgamation of styles though, the coat remains incredibly flattering - largely due to the width of the lapels and high lapel gorge - both of which mask the ‘notch’ to some degree, making it look more at home on the double breasted closure .
