Parent dieting
Diets fucking suck and the reason why they suck I because we can't eat what we want when we want. How are you supposed to keep to a strict diet when you have a baby to feed, two kids to get to school and a job to sit at for 8 hours everyday, not to mention all the washing (which has seemed to multiply 10 fold this week ) and other house stuff.
What do I do ..... Intermittent fasting! WTF is that you ask, well it's pretty easy in all honesty. Basically it is a window or period of time in which you don't eat. The length of this window depends on how experienced you are (the more you get used to it the easier it is) and how comfortable you feel with the results your getting.
This is my favourite"diet" for a number of reasons:
1/ It fits in, I LOVE breakfast and have always been told 'its the most important meal of the day' which is probably true tbh, but why do I need to eat it first thing in the morning?!
2/ It allows me more freedom with my food choices. Now I don't finish my fast and head straight to McD 's and smash 13 big Mac's (although I probably could) you still have to make good choices. BUT fasting for a long period of time reduces the amount of time your eating and so the number of calories you can fit in unless your a fucking eating machine!
3/ I love fasting, training faster and the 'light' feeling I get (no bloating, sluggishness etc)
So what do I do....
I eat a healthy breakfast around 11am, preprepared in work, usually eggs or porridge, overnight oats or Greek yoghurt and fruit. I eat lunch around 2ish which is usually tuna and some salad or chicken, protein shake(s) and then dinner with the family at 6ish, which is whatever they are having ( I don't like "dieting" in front of my girls which I will touch on another time). After that I fast until 11 the next morning...17 hours...Bosch!! Easiest part is, I'm asleep for like 8 (FML more like 5.5 hours) and rushing around getting everyone ready, me into work and started and tbh I haven't even thought about food at this point.
So why do I outline what I do? Well because I have adapted it to make it 1. Cheap and 2. Easy. In the morning I have cold green tea which I make the night before (bit weird maybe) but this is meant to have a really positive effect on your metabolism. 2. Black coffee (sometimes 3 lol) on the school run and I'm work. 3. Loads of water, like 2 litres before twelve. 4. High protein lunch as it keeps mw full and is low carb which "saves" my carbs for a family tea. 5. Berry tea at night because it's nice and keeps hunger away.
All in all I have had around 2300 cals give or take, 180ish grams of protein, 250 carbs and 70-80 fat. Saved myself loads of time in the morning, easy and cheap to prep and lets me have a normal family life! Smashed it!
