This is a picture of grandmother, Hildur Hendrickson Rollin and was taken in her dorm room at Eastern Michigan University, when she was in her late 40s. As a young woman and a school teacher, she was promptly fired from her teaching job the day after she got married because married women weren't allowed to teach. The following year in 1920, many women including her, fought for and received the right to vote. Later in her life, she finally had the chance to go back to college and her much loved profession as a school teacher. She often told me that I live in a great time for women. Today for the first time, we have the opportunity to vote for a woman on the ballot as president of the USA. If grandma was here now, she would vote as if it was a great privilege and I believe I know who it would be for. #vote #imwithher #votesforwomen (at Salt Lake City, Utah)
