Since the pandemic, I haven't had time for movies. So since things got better now, here I found a good one from 2021. The Deep House About a couple of tourist explore a house located at the bottom of a lake. They share their findings on social media aiming to reach a great number of followers. But their presence awakens a dark entity and trapped them inside the house.

Reoccurring Hauntings: December 24th

Below is a list regarding several haunting s that supposedly reoccur every Christmas Eve:

Kempston (Bedfordshire)- Kempston Manor: At one point in time this office space used to be the home of a family.  Legend has it that one of the children from the family ran out of the home to greet his parents, who were returning for the Holidays in a horse-drawn carriage.  The child was run over by the horses.  He ended up dying as a result of his injuries.  Every year on this date the sounds of this tragic event can be heard.

Egremont (Cumbria)- Tarpot Area: In this area an old man was coming home for Christmas Eve when he vanished without a trace.  Both the man and his ride are sometimes seen on the date of his disappearance.

Brough (Derbyshire)- Traveller’s Rest Public House: This location is where a local farm girl met her demise while trying to run from a drunken labouer on Christmas Eve. She died when she fell down the stairs. A woman in black can also be seen around the inn holding a large set of old keys.

Stubley (Derbyshire)- Stubley Old Hall: Every year the spirit of a young girl named Fatima can be seen playing the harp.  A Roundhead has also been seen less frequently and a young girl can be seen here running around outside in the fields.

High Laver (Essex)- Main Road Village:  One of the most prominent residents of this village used to be Abigail Masham.  After she passed away she was/is seen passing through the village in a carriage every Christmas eve to have a look at where her house used to be before disappearing.

Evesham (Hereford & Worester)- River:  Supposedly a set of silver bells was hidden in the river when a local abbey closed in 1539.  Each Christmas Eve they can be heard ringing.

Hever (Kent)- Bridge Over the Eden: Each year the spirit of Anne Boleyn can be seen crossing the bridge.  This location is also haunted by a farmer who had been murdered nearby.

Marden (Kent)- Road to Hawkhurst: During the 18th century, a highway man named Gilbert was stabbed to death by a woman who occupied the carriage that he tried to rob.  The woman had recognized Gilbert as the man who had previously killed her brother.  Afterwards the woman went mad.  This event can be seen being silently reenacted every Christmas Eve.

Salford (Lancashire)- Kersal Cell: Once a year a ghostly monk appears

Bradley (Lincolnshire)- Bradley Woods: Legend has it that a woman dressed in black will appear on Christmas Eve if a person called out “Black Lady, Black Lady, I’ve stolen your baby!” This woman is thought to be either a nun or a woodsman’s wife.

Brigg (Lincolnshire)- General Area: One Christmas Eve an old woman left her house to go and beg for money in order to buy herself a Christmas lunch.  On her way she became lost and froze to death.  On this date her ghost can sometimes be seen asking for directions home.

Halam (Nottinghamshire)- Valley Southeast of the Village:  Hidden somewhere in this area is the buried village of Radley.  On Christmas Eve ghostly church bells can be heard throughout the valley.

Sanford on Thames (Oxfordshire)- Fields Around the Village: On Christmas Eve a carriage of four hourses driven by a headless horseman can be seen running through the fields.

Holford (Somerset)- Normansland Driveway: At midnight a coach pulled by a team of black horses circles the driveway before vanishing.

Barsham (Suffolk)- Between Barsham Norwich: Each year the spirit of a Blennerhassett family member leaves the village in a coach pulled by headless horses.  This spirit travels to Hassetts Tower in Norwich before returning home before dawn.

Beccles (Suffolk)- Roos Hall Driveway: A coach pulled by headless horses is said to arrive by the front door December 24th.  Legend states that inside the hall wall, hidden in a cupboard, is an imprint of the Devils hoof branded into solid brick.  Another legend says that there is a window in the hall which will open and lock itself.

Outer London: East Barnet (Greater London)- Oak Hill Park: Each year Sir Goffrey can be seen riding on horseback towards the church. He then disappears through its walls.

Madingley (Cambridgeshire)- Madingley Hall: Lady Ursula Hynde returns each Christmas Eve to the hall. She had become upset at her son after he had pulled down a church in order to use its wood to finish the Halls Construction.  Other times of the year witnesses have claimed to hear the sounds of a ghostly party, followed by the apparition of a young man who had the face of a skeleton (some have reported the man having a decaying green face)

Saffron Waldon (Essex)- Cross Keys, Corner of King Street and High Street: People can hear the sounds of footsteps marching up and down a passageway.  These footsteps are thought to be those of a soldier of Cromwell.

The Bell Witch

What if you were vengeful and utterly unrestricted by the veil between the physical and the next dimension? That’s exactly what Kate Batts had going for her. She was a spiteful old woman who believed that she had been cheated in a land purchase by John Bell and was hell bent (literally) on tormenting him and his children, or at least his favorite 12-year old daughter, Betsy.

On Kate’s deathbed, she vowed to haunt the family of the Bell’s who had done her wrong. After her death, she made good her promise. It felt to the Bell family that this ghost took no other pleasure than tormenting them incessantly. Kate pinched their noses, poked needles into them, threw kitchen objects about, screeched at them in her now notorious high-pitched voice, pulled hair and was a presence that none of them could escape.

Kate’s wrath was particularly directed at John and his favorite daughter, Betsy. With the wife and other children she was sometimes heard crooning softly, saying something pleasant, or just ignoring them completely. John and Betsy were not so fortunate. Kate enjoyed mentally and physically torturing them with her shrieking voice or physically punishing antics.

Gossip moved as quickly then as it does now and this was a much talked about event in the small farming town of Adams, Tennessee. People were deeply fascinated by the rumors and some even came from hundreds of miles away to visit the place of unrest. Some spectators were greeted with handshakes, some with shrieks and some with a full dialog of warning. So popular did the story become that General Andrew Jackson, the future President of the United States, gathered a few friend to investigate the story himself. He and his cohorts wanted to either debunk or repel the feisty spirit of Kate Batts.

Jackson and his men were in for a surprise though. When their wagons stuck fast to an otherwise smooth and flat road, their jests of dealing with the witch came to a halt. No matter how they examined, pushed, cursed or whipped the horses, their wagon was not moving. Ịt was said that Jackson, in a fit of frustration and resignation, declared, “By the eternal, boys, it is the witch.“ Much to the amazement of Jackson and his men, the legendary screech could be heard from a nearby bush that replied, “"All right General, let the wagon move on, I will see you again to-night.” Moments later the wagon and horses were suddenly free to move about. There wasn’t a person present that could account for the voice’s owner or its whereabouts.

Kate wasn’t miserly in her haunting antics and bestowed upon Jackson and his men the same torturous treatment as she had John and his daughter Betsy. Jackson’s bedcovers were repeatedly yanked from his body and his men were delivered the same pinches and pokes as the family were. Jackson and his men realized they were no match for the Bell witch and hastily abandoned their adventure first thing in the morning.

Ghosts never die so it was not surprising that the haunting of Kate lasted the duration of John Bell’s life. In fact, the ghost of Kate Batts was said to have been responsible for John’s death.

In October of 1830, John Bell was rumored to have suffered a stroke and taken ill. While he was bedridden, his family found him in a particularly bad state of stupor and position. Alarmed, his son ran to the medicine cabinet to fetch what he thought was his father’s medicine. After administering it, the family heard the witch’s glee as she victoriously declared she had poisoned John herself the night before with that vial and this last dose was surely his undoing. True enough, it was. The contents were later examined by a doctor and found to be very poisonous.

Kate was not satisfied with death alone. She sang in merriment at John’s graveside and was still heard singing happily as the last person hastily left.

The Ghost Hunters Equipment

Audio recorder

Audio recorders are used to capture EVP’s (Electronic Voice Phenomenon). As far as we know, spirits are pure energy. In order to communicate with the spirit, an audio recording source is needed. Most of the time, spirits cannot be heard. While recording, it is possible you may be communicating with a spirit and not even know it, until played back later.

While recording, stand still. If in a group, make sure everyone is on the same page. Speak loudly, don’t whisper. Go with a Digital recorder for your EVP sessions. I personally use the TASCAM DR-05 Portable Digital Recorder.

It’s rugged, compact and has served me well.

Digital Camera

A digital camera will give you best results due to the high quality photographs and the ease of use when transferring to a computer. The digital camera’s I have been using during our investigations are mostly DSLR cameras. They have a faster shutter speed which makes them an asset to any ghost hunter.

Video Camera

Video Cameras are a necessity if your going to do any kind of investigating.  Similar to the digital camera, the video camera is great for investigating dark places, with the use of the camera’s high def full spectrum lighting.  

The 1080p HD Infrared Night Vision and Full Spectrum Camcorder is definitely the way to go. Light, compact and a great tool to add to your arsenal.

EMF Detectors

EMF ( Electro Magnetic Field ) detectors can measure the fluctuations in the electromagnetic fields. The detectors can be set off by any electrical outlets or equipment that is being used during an investigation. Get a base reading first when entering a room.

In this scene, my parents were not quick enough to cover up my eyes ( I fought them off, of course).  And with that… I was scarred for life, like many of us “ Who dared to go back into the water”

The Shining

The Shining is one of my all-time favorite ghost stories. Stanley Kubrick was a genius at making films “that really fucked with your head”.

The Shining is a must see. Also, check out Room 237.

Who’s Charlie Charlie ?

I’ve been trying to find out who is this Charlie guy? A Mexican demon named Charlie? or a just a common ghost boy whose name was Charlie. Why is the spell in English and not in Mexican? Why don’t I try to ask the Demon myself? I’ve thought of that and I’m sure I won’t be satisfied with just a Yes or No answer. Enlighten me?

After you done talking with this fucker, you ask 'Charlie Charlie, can we stop?’ After this bitch answers, you drop the fucking pencils. The Bath Game or “Daruma-san” is a game that originated in Japan.

The game involves summoning a grotesque ghost that will follow you all day. The object of the game is to evade the ghost and prevent it from catching you. Warning: We advise you not to play the bath game. They say that playing Daruma-san can result in very bad things happening to you.

Bath Game Instructions: Before you go to bed at night, take off your clothes and go into the bathroom.

Fill the bathtub with water and turn off the lights. Sit in the middle of the bathtub, facing the faucets or taps. Wash your hair, while repeating over and over the words “Daruma-san fell down. Daruma-san fell down.” As you wash your hair, in your mind, you should see an image of a Japanese woman standing in the bathtub. She slips and falls onto a rusty tap. The tap goes through her eye and kills her.

Keep repeating the words “Daruma-san fell down. Daruma-san fell down.” until you finish washing your hair. Your eyes must remain shut. You may hear or feel a slight movement in the bathtub behind you. Keep your eyes closed. Do not peek. You have just summoned a ghost. The ghostly figure of a woman will rise out of the water behind you. You will feel her presence as she stares at you, her head just behind your right shoulder. Her hair is black and tangled. Her clothes are tattered and rotting. She has only one eye. Her left eye is wide open and bloodshot. Her right eye is missing, leaving just a bloody, hollow eye socket. When you sense the presence of the ghost, say out loud “Why did you fall in the bath?”

Keeping your eyes shut tightly, stand up, get out of the bath. Be careful not to trip and fall. Immediately leave the bathroom and shut the door behind you. Now it is safe to open your eyes. Leave the water in the bath overnight. Go to sleep.

The next morning, when you wake up, the game will begin. The ghost of the one-eyed woman will be following you. Whenever you turn to look, she will disappear. Throughout the day, when you glance over your right shoulder, you will occasionally catch a glimpse of her. She will get closer and closer as the day goes on. Do not allow her to catch you. If you glance over your shoulder and see that she is way too close, you should shout “Tomare!” which means “Stop!” Then run away as quickly as possible. This will allow you to put some distance between yourself and the one-eyed woman.

To end the game, you must catch a glimpse of the ghostly woman and shout “Kitta!” which means “I cut you loose!” Then hold out your hand in front of you and swing it down in a cutting motion (like a karate chop). You should end the game before midnight. Otherwise the one-eyed woman will appear in your dreams and follow you.

Bath Game Rules: Do not open your eyes when the ghost first appears. Do not allow the ghost to trip you when you get out of the bath. Do not re-enter the bathroom after you leave. Do not drain the bathtub until morning. Do not allow the one-eyed woman to catch up to you. A final piece of advice: Do not play this game. It is very dangerous. Summoning ghosts can result in you getting possessed by a demon or dying in a horrible way. You could also trip and fall in the bath and seriously injure or kill yourself. If you fail to end the game properly, the ghost could continue to follow you for the rest of your life. Do not play this game.
