Sexy Chic Girly Birthday Bash Part 2
After sending out the invites and got the food label done and everything, I started working on other ideas for the decorations. From pink fabric pompoms and pink doilies to using lingerie as garlands for the tables. BUT..the birthday girl insisted that she doesn't want any decorations except for balloons...so that got my work all cut down to just preparing the food!
Because there's no need for any decor, I then proceeded to find matching cutlery and napkins, etc. I ended up getting black fabric and trimmed them with hot pink thread to be used as napkins. I also got pink forks and spoons which matched very well with the napkins.
On the day of the party, the birthday girl and I went to the hotel suite in the evening so i can set up a few things before heading back to the hq to get all the food. Black balloons were blown up and scattered all over the floor of the living area. I also taped to the ceiling some of the balloons that were tied to pink ribbon. Unfortunately, I did not have the time to take pictures of these.. By the time I had gone back to take the food, and plated everything and got everything ready for the party, I was in desperate need for a quick change. And when I finally got back, all fresh and clean, some of the guests were already there and the birthday girl had decided to move all the scattered balloons to one of the rooms cause it was getting in the way. Oh well.
Anywayyy on to the food (which is really the star of the party). As mentioned in the previous post, the birthday girl was very clear on what food she wanted at the party, and I aim to deliver. So here is the food list we had:
SAVOURY FOOD:
Mini Sausage Cups
Cheesy Chicken Scallops
Roast Chicken
Chicken Crispers
French Fries
Peanut Butter & Jelly Burgers in charcoal buns
Now with the desserts, I thought I would go ahead and have a little fun by making them all in pink and black to suit the theme.
DESSERTS:
Strawberry Pudding with coke
Homemade baked donuts with chocolate glaze
Chocolate Cornflakes Fudge with Marshmallow topping
Caramel Popcorn
And of course....what is a birthday party without its cake, right? So here it is. A two tiered pink girly cake inspired by elements of a corset.
Each tier is made up of a light and spongy espresso chiffon cake with a rich peanut butter swiss meringue buttercream.
So that wraps up the very simple and yet elegant party. Here are some random pictures of the party! Hehe :)
Sexy Chic Girly Birthday Bash Part 1
Many apologies for the super late update. Have been super busy with everything else in my life..including planning for a birthday bash almost two weeks ago for a super close friend of mine. Although many changes have been implemented to the original plan, one thing that has always been clear about the party was the theme : Sexy ,Chic and Girly. And what better colours suit this theme other than black and pink. Right? Next we had to look for a venue. The birthday girl was very certain on choosing a hotel as the venue, and after weeks scouting for the best affordable place, a two bedroom suite was booked. And from then on, I started planning and preparing all the other details.
First things first though : the invitations...
Grey and pink stripes as the background, contained in a bracket shaped black outlined card with elegant fonts
A small rectangular card was also attached to the main card where guests are provided with a QR code that links to a specially created website where they can RSVP their attendances.
Tied together with a pretty pink glittery ribbon, a sexy pre-party doorgift was also then attached to the invitation card, all wrapped up in one small sexy package.
Seeing as we were both food enthusiasts, the birthday girl and I discussed about what food she wanted to have for her party in the very early stages of the party planning, which made it easier to then just started designing the food labels as well. I used the same design for these.
And attached each one to a black painted stick complete with a cute pink bow
....

Haze Day
okay so months ago my friends and i decided to celebrate our 10 years of friendship together. So I planned a little BBQ get together....unfortunately at the time, KL experienced bad haze. But we went ahead with our plan anyway. The theme was slightly school ish with blue as the main colour. We were on a very tight budget and to be honest all we cared about was the food so I didn't bother much with the decor.
DECOR
I hung small blue tissue pompoms on strings and tied them to the trees. Blue crepe and school pad paper buntings were hung between the pompoms. A few white and blue balloons were also tied to the ends.
A "blackboard" sign was placed on the food table bearing the words HAPPY HAZE DAY.
I also had plastic cups with tags on them so we can write our names on them (and not get our drinks mixed up)
FOOD
Appetizer
While waiting for the fire to start and for the food to cook, I had some appetizers set out for my hungry friends :
French baguette topped with cream cheese and spicy turkey slices.
Fresh tomato gazpacho served with nacho chips
I also prepared Virgin Coladas for them to cool down under the hot sun - served in a retro milk tin
Main Course
For the main, of course it was all grilled, grilled, grilled on the bbq! We had Creole Spiced Chicken wings, sausage and shrimp kebabs and Cheese Stuffed burgers. A side of grilled corn on the cob and; cold and creamy potato salad were also served alongside the condiments for the burger. I also made Homemade BBQ sauce and green chile mayo.
Desserts
Now for the desserts. I kept it simple as I know we were gonna be stuffed from all the other food we had.. but we had to cake. We just had to. So I made a tall, three-layer lemon cake with Swiss Meringue Vanilla Buttercream and lemon curd filling with bits of Meringue pieces for that extra crunch! (more on the cake in the next post). I also made Homemade Mint Ice Cream with Andes mint choc chunks - sandwiched between oreo cookies; and Rocky Road brownies.
And that just about wraps up everything about this party! Here are a few more random pictures before I end this post! Just cause. Hehe :)
