Y’all aren’t taking advantage of how Jack Phillips can manipulate this court decision into a position that would help him. Here’s what he should do, because it’s what I would do.

If I were in this position I’d probably do it, but in the worst way possible. I’d make a cake, and it would LOOK fantastic. I’d decorate it with lots of common LGBT themes. There’ll be rainbow fondant, plastic penises, and repressed sexual abuse all over the cake for decoration.

But inside…… I’d add far too much salt to the cake mix, I’d throw in an abundance of vinegar, cayenne pepper, and even whole shots of bitters into the cake batter or who knows what else that’s technically edible and I won’t be held liable for intentional poisoning, before roasting the shit out of it in the oven to where it’s crunchy when you bite into it. The frosting I’d leave fine in case someone samples it before the wedding day. When that day happens, I’d also ask the couple if I could attend their wedding.

When the wedding happens and the couple cut the cake and take the first bite they’ll be disgusted at the horrible taste of the cake. They’ll ask what’s wrong, I’ll offer to try some. It will naturally taste horrible, but I’ll just say that maybe there was too much of a collection of salt in that corner. If they try another side it will taste just as bad. If they confront me about why the cake tastes horrible, I’ll tell them the truth. I’ll bake a cake for an LGBT wedding, but I won’t do it to the best of my ability. The court can order me to do it, but they have no control over the quality.

I will have ruined their wedding. And in a far worse way than if they just had to change bakers to a gay-friendly business. They’ll now have to throw my vinegar cake away and go to the grocery store and buy half a dozen low quality sheet cakes. All the guests will be pissed and disappointed, one of the grooms will probably burst into tears. I will have had my revenge in a way nobody expected, and no one can do anything about it. If by some mad miracle, the court orders me to do it again, i’ll just fuck it up again, and again, and again. Eventually everyone will know I’ll make piss poor cakes for LGBT wedding and the requests will stop. Guys I need to open a bakery now and plan an elaborate 5 year long legal prank.

@gandalfergrigio I’m sorry- I made this post from the footing that you are an American resident in an urban center. I looked at your blog and saw that you’re actually what appears to be Italian.

I poked around a bit and found that you have about 1.1 intentional homicides per 100,000, the US has about 4.7, and has been declining steadily for the last few years. Easily 10% of those are direct gang violence.

About 9,000 homicides are committed with firearms. The remaining 4,000 or so is broken up between other means.

less then 0.019 homicides per 100,000 (252 total) were committed with an ‘assault’ style rifle.

About 0.056 homicides per 100,000 (728 total) were committed with hands and feet.

Hilariously, during the time when we did have severe gun control in the US- homicide rates were at 9.5-5.7 per 100,000. Primarily due to the drug war. Which a lot of our current homicides are also attached to.

We also have less then half the police force per 100,000 to cover an order of magnitude more area. Police are legitimately minutes or seconds from you. They’re hours at times for us.

Finally, culturally, here the statement “it is acceptable to kill someone who is trying to kill you” is pretty universally agreed with. We’re not culturally monolithic, we’re highly diverse, but for the most part a man (or woman) who is totally capable of taking care of themselves is very highly regarded. And that includes our self defense. The lowest estimate for firearms used in self-defense is about a hundred thousand uses per year. The majority of those are non-lethal encounters. Because here in the US, justifiable homicide is counted alongside criminal homicide.

Basically, you can’t quite understand us Americans form your more monolithic culture. And that’s okay.

But don’t tell us what to do. We hate when self-righteous Europeans try to do that.

Notice how countries in Europe that have decent gun ownership never shit talk the US about why they own guns. But leave it up to a place like Italy to be almost 100% disarmed. Notice how for-mentioned US and European Countries with stout gun ownership don't typically get the "truck of peace" either.
