Henry finished the cookie with a grin – it was a goddamn good cookie. You need to teach me how to bake! he signed, still smiling widely. I wish, I could but I want to make sure everyone gets the help they need, he replied with a small sigh. He knew he had to rest up a bit but he didn’t want to disappoint the actual healers who were kind enough to let him help around.

Charlie looked positively delighted and a huge smile appeared on his face. As soon as all of this is over I can teach you. It’s pretty easy to make cookies, anyway. And fun. Baking with people was always a lot more fun than baking alone, especially with somebody like Henry. Of course, they’ll get the help they need, even if you rest for a few minutes. You won’t be very helpful sleeping on them. He cared a lot about Henry’s well-being, especially when he was kind enough to volunteer at the hospital and help all of the frantic healers.

After catching her balance and realizing who had bumped into her, she looked up at the ginger and shook her head with a smile. She threw her hands up in a double “ thumbs-up ” to indicate that she didn’t mind that much. With another kind smile she waved him along. She didn’t know much sign language, but she could manage with what she DID know. You’re Charlie, right? she signed hesitantly.

Charlie felt guilty for accidentally bumping into the girl, especially as he didn’t know her that well, only really knowing her through word of mouth and Hogwarts. With a quick nod and a sweet smile, he looked pleased by her efforts no matter how hesitant they were. “Victoire?” he said in an unsure voice, knowing that he probably hadn’t said her name correctly as he didn’t know how to pronounce it but he was trying.

teddy turned on his side to face charlie better, wearing a goofy smile the whole time. ‘the hospital is just so james doesn’t worry,’ he scrunched his nose, following charlie’s gaze to his arms and nodded. at least he was okay, teddy always needed to know his friends were doing okay. besides knowing they were fine, he was incredibly bored. ‘charlie! let’s do something fun before i rot away on this very bed!’

Teddy’s goofy smile was contagious so Charlie grinned back at him. James will worry about you anyway, you know he always does. At Teddy’s request for fun, Charlie frowned because he didn’t actually know what there was here to do for fun considering they were in a hospital and Charlie wasn’t going to allow Teddy to move. Honestly, he was out of ideas and a little sad he wasn’t entertaining enough. But what is there to do for fun here?

The hand resting on his arm got Mercer to stop and breathe. The apologetic smile remained on his lips, even though he was relieved to see Charlie hadn’t gotten upset. A mere bump of shoulder’s could be the thing to set anyone off at the moment, with tension and distress levels so high. He bit his lip at first because hearing the ginger speak was the last thing he expected, but a soft smile crossed his features then. If Charlie could meet him halfway by speaking, which was amazing and something the fellow Hufflepuff didn’t have to do, Mercer decided he should also meet halfway. He made a mental note to look into how to sign. “I hope they taste as good as they look. Have one, please.” Opening the container to offer the treats, the blond couldn’t miss an opportunity to feed someone.

Charlie was glad to see Mercer calm down a little because he didn’t like seeing him appear so on edge, even though a lot of people were lately. It’s mainly why he’d been here trying to cheer everyone up to his best ability. As Mercer opened his container and offered him a cookie, Charlie couldn’t deny the offer so he took one with a thankful smile and put his thumbs up as he bit into it. It was definitely good and he was pretty sure they were better than his own. “They are amazing. Better than mine,” he said sweetly.

Ever since the eldest weasley was a young child, there was only one thing that could take her away from the world. That was music. So as she wandered the DESTROYED grounds of the university she had her headphones pressed snugly into her ears. “I’m not like them, but I can pretend,” Kurt Cobain hummed through the tiny white buds as Victoire looked around the grounds. She couldn’t help but feel bad for all that had lost their valuables, homes, and even their lives. It was a terrible situation and no matter what she did she just couldn’t erase what she saw. She saw people she knew and even people she never even got to meet laying on the ground LIFELESS, without the blessing of air in their lungs. She wished that there was enough magic in the world to forget that. A part of her also wished that it was morally correct to rise the dead. But it wasn’t. And there wasn’t anything she could do. She felt USELESS. So as she wandered the destroyed and practically abandoned hallways, she sung along to the current NIRVANA song playing in her ears. She wasn’t even paying attention. So much so that she found herself walking directly into someone.

Charlie had just been making his way back from the university library. The library was his safe space and it upset him that it had been partly destroyed after the obscurus attack and he wanted to help clear it up and salvage as many of the books as possible. As he wandered along the corridor with his head down at the floor, he hadn’t been expecting to see anyone let alone literally bump into them. Or be bumped into, he wasn’t sure. “I’m sorry,” he said softly, signing the word at the same time.

Zach was allowed to get out of his bed and roam around after a couple of days being very bedridden. He had learned, apparently, that he was not the only casualty from the obscurus attack that had taken place. Some of his alleged friends had even gotten hurt and others he certainly didn’t know—whether he knew them before or had never truly met them was to be determined, apparently—but he also found he was very nervous. He fidgeted a lot, often stayed quiet, and only spoke to people he’d seen more than once. It was all very scary, and in his distraction for what was wrong with him and everyone else, he kept his eyes down at the floor and bumped into someone. He looked up at the person and then down at the floor where all the cookies had fallen to the floor. “Five second rule, wait.” Zach said, crouching down and gathering the cookies carefully—but had he signed? Something? The old him was fluent in BSL, but Zach now only knew just… the alphabet and how to say thank you. He offered the cookies back sadly. “Do you want these again or do you want to throw them out? I’m so sorry, I wasn’t… paying attention.”

Charlie’s lips opened in a surprised ‘o’ as he was bumped into and the cookies fell out of his hands before he realised who it was. He hadn’t actually seen Zach since the ball but he had heard about what happened to him. Smiling sadly at the cookies for a moment, his smile then brighter when Zach picked them up before he shrugged at the question. “I don’t know,” he said in a small and shy voice. “You can have one if you like.” He offered out the plate to him even though he was no longer sure if he would want one after they had been on the floor. “I’m Charlie, by the way.” He figured that he should reintroduce himself to Zach.

Lorcan had been running around all day, it seemed, alternating between checking on the injured creatures and on the injured people. It made for quite the journey and a very exhausting day, so she really should have expected that she’d do something klutzy, like running directly into someone.

Looking at who exactly she’d collided with, she couldn’t help but smile apologetically. My fault. Let me help you? She raised her eyebrows at that, to make it clear that it was a question. She always made it a point to sign with Charlie and Ellie, needing the practice. She hadn’t been expecting to literally run into him today, but that was what she got for running around like she was.

As Lorcan collided into him, Charlie immediately smiled, not caring after her apologetic smile. It was a slight inconvenience but there would always be more cookies. The fact that she made an effort to use sign language with him made his smile grow even wider. It’s fine, I don’t mind. He smiled politely and quickly got out his wand to silently clear up the mess, looking a little sad at the broken pile of cookies. Are you okay? You seemed like you were in a rush.

With a small SQUEAK of a yell, Zara jumped back when the ginger bumped into her. “ Oh no ! Je suis tellement désolé ! ” she said, slipping into her native language without realizing it. She rushed to help him pick up the cookies that had fallen. “ Oh, don’t worry. I’ll help you make another batch, okay ? ” She signed back to him, giving him a reassuring smile. She hated being so clumsy, she was so used to thing like this. This definitely wasn’t the first time she knocked over some baked treats.

Charlie stared at his professor in blank confusion for a couple of moments, unable to understand what she was saying. But as she helped pick up the cookies, he regained his focus and smiled again. It’s okay, you don’t have to. It didn’t take me long anyway. Picking up one of the cookies, he examined it and shrugged figuring they couldn’t be too bad as hospitals were supposed to be clean. charlie is probs the most stereotypical hufflepuff you could find. he’s sweet, gentle, kind and loving and just wants to make everyone happy

he was born deaf. he grew up learning sign language and how to lip read and was given lots of speech therapy, however he prefers to use sign language over speaking

charlie is really, really shy. he likes people and wants to be friends with everyone but large crowds overwhelm him and sometimes he just prefers being alone

despite being a talented wizard, he just prefers herbology over everything and enjoys the peace and tranquillity of studying plants. he found his love for it at hogwarts when professor longbottom realised he had a knack for looking after the plants and took him under his wing, becoming his mentor of some sorts. he also is well practised in non-verbal magic which shows his excellent abilities for magic

as well as loving plants, he also loves animals -- magical and non-magical, especially dogs. he was almost going to study magizoology but changed his mind

reading is one of his biggest hobbies and it’s rare that he is seen without a book in his hand. he began reading when he was young as it was something he was able to do to get away from the world. whenever he gets too stressed out or anxious, he hides away and finds a quiet place to read. books are his happy place

charlie almost attended hogwarts late as his parents didn’t want him to go. the first few weeks he hated it as he feared his fellow students would make fun of him as he was the quiet ginger kid who couldn’t hear, meaning he kept himself to himself and didn’t make an effort to make friends. however, once he realised that the students were nice and friendly he began to enjoy it there. even now he’s still shy but he’s more open and tries his hardest even when he is still pretty socially awkward

teddy complied to being pushed back into his laying position because it hurt to be in any other position but whined nonetheless. even if his friend couldn’t hear his whining, his whining was definitely seen. then he smiled softly, squirmed his head around on the pillow to get comfortable. ‘me? i’m rocking, charlie. best i’ve ever been!’ he signed out lazily, scratching at his face because his hair grew rapidly and was easily the most annoying thing in the world. ‘how are you? did you get hurt at all?’

As Charlie saw Teddy complain about him putting him back in a lying position, he laughed softly. Even though he felt a little bad, he was sure that he must be more comfortable lying down. You’re right, I’m sure you have never been better. This hospital is just for fun. Another laugh left his mouth. At the question, Charlie glanced at his arms which had the healing remains of a few cuts he received from falling debris, but other than those, he was fine so he shook his head.

Henry looked at the cookies and was just about to politely decline the offer as he had not much time for food when his stomach let out a loud growl. My watch says ‘no thank you’ but my tummy says ‘please, don’t starve me to death’ he chuckled and grabbed a cookie from the plate, nomming on it. Those are really good! Did you bake them yourself? he asked, grinning.

A pleased smile appeared on Charlie’s face as Henry took one of his offered cookies, glad he took one as he originally looked like he was going to decline it. He obviously needed food as he looked exhausted. You should rest for a few minutes, you look tired. Biting down on his bottom lip, he hoped he hadn’t overstepped but the bashful smile came back on his face at the compliment and he nodded.

Mercer had been guiltily avoiding coming here. He couldn’t stomach seeing blood or people in pain, with the exception of Quidditch. He felt truly sick to his stomach to see the school in ruins and faces he passed every day laid in bed trying to recover. And now that he was going from room to room, even to strangers, the task of trying to offer some sort of comfort or just a presence to take away those who felt alone was more challenging than he originally prepared for. Especially for those who were at the state of bitter frustration, those on the verge of lashing out because things felt futile. Mercer was once again stepping out for fresh air in hopes that he could get a grip on his shaky nerves, only to of course clumsily bump shoulders with someone during his haste. “–Oh, shoot! Sorry.” He really wanted to kick himself right about now, especially since the accident caused cookies to go to waste. “Looks like we had the same idea.” Mercer handed over his container of freshly bakes treats as a peace offering, but more so because maybe Charlie would be better at giving them to people than he was.

Charlie smiled shyly at the other boy and quickly cleared up the dropped cookies before putting his hand on his arm gently to show that he wasn’t upset by the accident. These things happened and he could easily make some more -- not that he needed to now he knew that Mercer was also handing out cookies. He glanced at the container Mercer was holding and smiled widely at him. “They look lovely,” he said in a quiet and slow voice.

pure, absolute bliss. that’s the last thing he remembered. he remembered the night so vividly, it was nearly the best one he’d ever had. he kissed james, heard the words his heart yearned to hear and he watched james walk away. watched him go out to buy ice cream, something he’d wanted and then there was nothing. his mind remembered but his heart was trying to forget, how the darkness and the screams could be heard and he’d gone to the window to look out and the window burst and in came the darkness. there was a whirlwind of sorts, all of his belongings flying all over the place, glass in every inch of his body until he was whipped back into the leg of a chair, hit his head against the wall and darkness took over.

he vagueley remembered james coming home and there was screams and cries and now as he opened his eyes, there was a blinding pain in his abdomen and the light was brighter than he could remember. his hand was empty, he could’ve sworn james was here. james was here the previous night, maybe? madam pomfrey had come in to visit, so had harry… and all his friends but teddy was struggling to remember much of the past couple of days. he lifted his head up as much as he could and turned to each side, trying to find a familiar face and the figure came rushing. ‘h-hey. fuck. fuck, what’s happened? where is jamie?’ talking felt weird, words felt foreign in his tongue and he managed to sit up further, pressing his palm to his wound and cringing.

Charlie smiled as he realised that Teddy had woken up. After hearing about what happened to his friend, he’d popped in every so often to see how he was doing once he was allowed visitors. But every time he had been asleep up until now. Putting a finger to his lips, Charlie shook his head and made sure Teddy stayed lying down as his injuries still looked pretty bad, even a week later. Seeing the word ‘Jamie’ on his lips made him smile because of course that was Teddy’s first thought. He is fine, he is just resting. How are you?

Henry walked through the corridor, lost in his thoughts when he bumped into someone and all he heard was a loud noise made by the plate shattering into pieces. “FIVE SECONDS RULE!” he yelled and quickly fixed the plate with a Reparo spell and started putting the cookies back on the plate, handing them to the ginger man. “Oh shit sorry, um…” he smiled apologetically at him. Sorry, I didn’t notice you here, are you all right? he signed, still smiling softly.

Charlie bit down on his bottom lip before a soft and shy smile appeared on his face. He shook his head silently to let the boy know that he didn’t mind and then pointed his wand at the repaired plate to make it float, so the accident wouldn’t happen again in the busy hospital. Despite his hair being noticeably bright, people often didn’t notice him as he was usually just a wallflower. I’m fine, thank you. Would you like one? He gestured towards the plate, wanting Henry to eat as he probably hadn’t had the chance after rushing around all day.

Charlie had spent the day in St Mungo’s offering around cookies to all the staff and students who seemed upset and stressed out. Even though he hadn’t been badly injured himself -- a few minor cuts and bruises from the debris -- he wanted to stick around to be a shoulder to cry on, even though the constant busyness and bustle of the hospital put him on edge.

After deciding he’d had enough and needed some space, he went to find an empty place to be in. But in his distraction, he bumped into someone, which sent the plate of cookies clattering to the floor. Sorry, he signed, mouthing the word at the same time, then looking down sadly at the cookies.
