I’m so scared of this album and this era

June 1, 2018. The best day of my life. For the past 13 years I have loved Taylor. I’ve laughed, cried, screamed, and danced my heart out to her lyrics. Every tour, I would beg my parents to let me go to a concert but we could never do it bc I was always playing volleyball and having tournaments trying to get a college scholarship. For my 19th birthday, my dream finally came true. Taylor was back on tour and I was in college and able to finally see her. My family surprised me with tickets to the most amazing show/concert/entertainment I have ever experienced. Taylor puts on a performance and it was more than I could ever imagine. While she was at the B-Stage playing her surprise song, I held up my poster that said “waited 12 years to see you” and for a second I think she saw it. For a second, I saw her smile and I think she knew how much she’s helped me.

I have always dreamt of that moment and I can’t put into words what it meant to me. Taylor helped me through anxiety, depression, all the bullying I went through starting in the 4th grade. All throughout middle school and most of high school, I kept the Speak Now Live DVD in my DVD player bc every night before I went to bed I would watch it because it was the only thing that took my mind off of having to go to school the next day. It kept me happy and kept my mind off the realization that I have to go back to school and deal w bs all over again. Taylor has been a huge role model in my life. Her fearlessness, confidence, and strength kept me going and taught me I could feel that way too.

Every time I hear “The Best Day” I cant help but shed some tears bc every word in the song is exactly how I felt and what I went through. My mom and I sing that song together. She used to take me out shopping or just around town to keep my mind off of things and the hurt I was going through. I vividly remember texting a bunch of people in my phone asking if I could sit w them at lunch bc my “friends” had spread rumors ab me and no one wanted to sit w me.

Thank you Taylor. For helping me and so many others. You are such an inspiration and so admirable.
