You can immediately feel the difference from being in Spain compared to France. There is a certain party atmosphere in the air. The weather is warm, the beach is here and you start to wind down, walk slower and sleep later. La Rambla is the heart of the city with all the cute winding laneways leading off here. La Boqueria food market is a must, 1€ fruit juices or fruit salads and amazing vegetarian burritos. Visit Barceloneta beach and the W hotel's Wet bar for good cocktails and great views. Also for a fun atmosphere and good burgers visit Makamaka opposite the beach. Highlights: good sangria, the beach and La Sagrada Familia.

The trip gets going

After the highlight of Paris, meeting all the people on our tour and getting over jet lag finally, we travelled on the tour bus south to Lyon for the night. Visiting the cute town of Avignon the next day which is just what you imagine a french provincial tourist town to look like. Arriving at our next big destination Barcelona, Spain.

Paris

First of all freezing, colder than any where else on the trip! Secondly, so so beautiful. I loved Paris, the moment upon entering the Champs Élysées, walking the iconic, beautifed strip down to the Louvre and the Eiffel Tower, it's a surreal experience. I want to go back and get lost wandering the streets and eat the fresh croissants every morning. Highlight: having macarons from Laduree, seeing the Eiffel Tower, and just walking the streets of Paris enjoying the beauty.

London

A varied and traditional city, only 2 days was spent here which is not enough, I am eagerly awaiting my return to this city to soak up the subtle beauty and all that is on offer. Highlights: Notting Hill and Portobello Rd markets, eating cake from Harrods food hall and having a traditional pub dinner.

Recommencing

I have been busy with my travels over the last 3 months and have not posted anything about them. I shall start to recommence the story of my travels thus far through pictures, information and text.
