At this time I will explain in depth why I have created this blog, both for myself and any future followers. Why Freya? Why this deity and no other? That is something that has piqued my interest as well. For a long time, ever since I first heard her name, it was an inexplicable attraction. Every time I saw it read, or heard it aloud, it was like a golden bell in my ears, shining golden glitter on my eyes. It rolled off my tongue, it always caught my attention. I soon learned she was a Norse goddess, and then started my researching. Everything she stood for, every bit of lore made me feel like I was in the right place. Especially now, at a time in my life where I lack love and confidence, I need someone like Freya in my life. I haven’t perfectly learned my attraction to her, why I feel this pull towards her, since I have just started my journey, but this blog is my detailed account on all the ways Freya has and will hopefully guide me. Tonight I have introduced myself and given my first offering, three rings from my jewelry box. I picked these due to her attraction to shining gold and the mentions of her being proud of her beauty. I hope she enjoys them, I know I do.

I have been fairly absent from this blog for a while, but I’ve noticed that it has gained some followers and reblogs over time. I’m glad people are taking interest in Freya and this blog will remain here for all to peruse.
However, my journey with Freya did not work out as planned. In fact, the very night I wrote the post above, I was contacted by another deity through dream. She told me her story, of running away from Asgard in search of her sister and for freedom. I was in her shoes, running alongside her. She had me feel her fear, her joy, and her yearning for the journey just beyond the horizon.
Her name is Lofn, a deity of luck, freedom and marriage. She is depicted in the Poetic Edda as a follower of Freya and has dominion over unions that were forbidden by Frigga. She is often portrayed with another, Sjofn, who is said to be her sister. Although, in my heart, I know that is not the whole truth.
I have spent the past several years working with Lofn, which was a test to my spiritual intuition due to the lack of information about her online. I learned that her favorite colors are green and purple, and her flower is lavender (which is called Lofnablom, Lofn’s flower, in Nordic countries). While there is no evidence to back my hunch, I believe that Lofn and Freya are more closely connected. Just as some believe that Freya and Frigga may be one, I say that Lofn should be included as a maiden aspect, making them a triple goddess. They all represent love and magic, but at different stages of life.
In this way, I believe that Freya did honor my devotion, but perhaps she knew someone else who was more in line with my own beliefs. I don’t know if this means that Freya will come to me when I reach that stage of my life, but as of now, I am content in my practice and my journey with Lofn.
If you’d like, I encourage you to read more about Lofn and honor her in your own way. She deserves to be honored as much as any other member in this pantheon. She loves any offerings you have to spare, and also games of chance. Next time you’re in a game and need an extra player, deal her in! She surprisingly competitive.
Thank you for reading. May your journeys be pleasant and fruitful.
