What are the Claires?
Chances are you've probably heard of the claires before (like clairvoyance), but what are they?
Essentially, they are six different spiritual abilities based on six senses.
Clairvoyance
Clairvoyance comes from the words clair (clear) and voyance (vision). This clair is the power to gain information through sight. If you are clairvoyant, you might gain information about something through pictures in your minds eye.
Clairaudience
Clairaudience comes from the words clair (clear) and audience (hearing). This clair is the power to gain information by sound. If you are clairaudient, you may gain information through sound or music in your mind's voice.
Clairsentience
Clairsentience comes from the words clair (clear) and sentience (feeling). This clair is the power to sense other people's emotions without seeing, hearing, or touching them. If you are clairsentient, you may often have "gut feelings", or may easily tune into the emotional energies around you.
Clairalience
Clairalience comes from the words clair (clear) and alience (smell). This clair is the power to smell things that aren't actually there. If you are clairalient, you may smell things such as perfume or cigarette smoke when there isn't any, which may alert you of a spiritual presence.
Clairguastance
Clairguastance comes from the words clair (clear) and gustance (taste). This clair is the power to taste things that aren't actually there. Like with clairalience, you may taste something to alert you of a spiritual prescence.
Claircognizance
Claircognizance comes from the words clair (clear) and cognizance (knowing). This clair is the power to gain information on things we normally wouldn't know about. If you are claircognizant, you may have instances where information pops into your head, such as a premonition.
Can u be more than one?
Yup! You can be multiple Clairs or even none at all. Some people are born with them and other people have to practice to strengthen them, too.
Every time I think I am finally being regular with my practice, either a really bad period or something out of the blue will knock me off for a couple of weeks and somehow I am back to square one again.
I'll beg your pardon if this is something personal, but I thought I might offer a little reassurance.
Every witch....every single one....goes through this. We all have times where we can manage a regular practice and everything seems to be going smoothly. And then life will intervene, illness will happen, things will be busy with work or school, or maybe our mental health won't be in the best place, and witchcraft will fall by the wayside for a time.
Try returning to the things that originally inspired you. Make a witchy playlist for your down days. Wear that special jewelry or that cute witchy outfit without waiting for a special occasion. Weave witchcraft into your everyday routine so that you can do it with little to no effort. Find magic in small things as well as big ones.
The important thing to remember is to be patient and be kind to yourself. Try not to get frustrated or discouraged, and whatever you do, don't give up. Things will turn around again. They always do.
And you are STILL a witch, no matter if you practice every single day or just intermittently when you can manage it. Everyone has to take breaks now and again. The craft will be waiting when you find your groove again.
Hope this helps!

Building a Magical Home
One of my favorite quotes about the magic of homemaking comes from Cory Hutcheson, host of the New World Witchery podcast. He says, “Home is a transformational act. It is the thing you do to turn a space into a space… that is full of ritual and significance and meaning. So there is sort of this ongoing relationship you have with the space that makes it a home.”
The act of creating a home, of making a space your own, is inherently magical. But if you want to make your space feel a little more witchy, here are some ideas to get you started.
Charms and Talismans
Making your own magical objects can be a powerful way to bring magic into your space. The best thing about making your own charms is that you can make them look however you want, so it’s easy to disguise them as ordinary household objects. You can make a charm for any intention by combining objects based on their magical correspondences.
I’ve talked about protective charms in previous posts, so I’m not gonna spend a lot of time on it here. The simplest protective charm is keeping a large piece of iron under your bed to keep away nightmares, evil spirits, and negative energy. You could also make your own protection charm, like a witch bottle.
You can create a “happy home” charm to bring peace, harmony, and happiness into your home. This charm could include herbs like basil, rosemary, lavender, peppermint, and/or bay leaves, as well as other items that you associate with peace and good fortune, like lucky coins, crystals, or black cat fur. Write your desires for a harmonious and happy home on a piece of paper, fold it up, and add it to the charm. You could store these items in a green bag, bury them in your backyard (in this case, make sure you’re only using biodegradable plant matter — leave out the coins and crystals), or place it inside a household object like a lamp or an end table.
If you suffer from insomnia or other sleep issues, try making a dream charm to help you sleep well and have sweet dreams. To make a simple dream charm, fill a blue or purple bag with lavender, chamomile, peppermint, and any other objects that you associate with peace, restfulness, and sleep. If you want to have lucid dreams or receive psychic messages in your dreams, include a bit of mugwort. Place the charm in your pillow or under your mattress. (I personally swear by this one, as it’s helped a lot with my insomnia.)
Charms are great for homemaking magic because you’re actually creating a magical object, which can then become a permanent fixture of the space.
Magical Decor
You can use magical items to decorate your home to bring certain qualities into that space.
Hanging or displaying a broom is said to bring good fortune, protection from evil, and good hospitality. Cauldrons are used to represent the Goddess, rebirth, and raw potential. Horseshoes hung above door frames bring safety and luck to all who cross under them, and keep unwanted guests away. If you can get them legally and ethically, animal bones, teeth, claws, and feathers can represent the spirit and energy of that animal. You can also put up images of spiritual and occult symbols — I have an image of the Sun tarot card hanging in my bedroom to promote positivity and growth.
If you need to be a little more subtle with your witchy decorations, working with the magic of color is a great way to do that. Gathering a lot of items of a single color in one room changes the energy of that room. Here’s a quick guide to give you some ideas:
Yellow is associated with divination, mental clarity, the element of air, success, communication, and inspiration.
Purple is associated with divine power, spiritual awareness, mystery, astral travel, magic, and authority.
Blue is associated with healing, psychic abilities, the element of water, peace, truth, and patience.
Red is associated with protection, the fire element, sex, power, vitality, and love.
Orange is associated with ambition, creativity, breaking through blockages, and career success.
Pink is associated with romantic love, friendship, self love, compassion, and emotional well-being.
Green is associated with nature, herbalism, the earth element, money, wealth, prosperity, and luck.
Brown is associated with grounding, animal magic, stability, and balance.
White is associated with purification, cleansing, the full moon, new beginnings, healing, and spiritual growth.
Black is associated with protection, truth, outer space, banishing, and transition.
Decorating your home with colors that are meaningful to you can create a powerful magical space. You may also have your own color associations (for example, yellow is a very “happy” color for me), so feel free to incorporate those into your decor as well!
Growing Magical Houseplants
Most witches feel a very deep connection to nature and draw power from the natural world, but we can’t all live in a cottage in the heart of the forest. Even if you live in a tiny apartment in the city, you can still bring nature into your space by keeping houseplants. Many popular houseplants have magical uses, and many popular magic herbs can be grown inside. Here are a few to get you started.
Aloe. This is one of my favorite plants. Aloe brings luck and protection, especially protection on an energetic/spiritual level. I like to keep aloe in my bedroom to protect me while I sleep, as well as to bring luck and inspiration while I’m working at my desk.
Basil. Basil is very popular in money spells, and will attract prosperity and luck to your home. However, it also has protective properties — both spiritual protection and protection from bugs, since basil is a natural insect repellent! Basil can also be used in love spells, and is just generally a good plant to have around for good vibes.
African Violet. This flowering plant attracts positive spiritual energy into your space. It has associations with the moon and the water element, and is very good for promoting spirituality and psychic power.
Rosemary. Rosemary is one of those herbs that every witch should have on hand. It’s so darn versatile, it can be used as a substitute for virtually any other herb, and can be used for almost any intention. Some of the most common magical associations for rosemary include: cleansing, purification, protection, healing, mental activity, and enhancing memory. According to author Deborah J. Martin, there’s an old English saying that, “Where rosemary grows, the woman rules the house.” Like basil, rosemary is a natural insect repellent.
Lavender. Lavender brings peace, love, and gentleness, which makes it a perfect addition to any home. It can be used in spells for cleansing and purification, enhancing psychic abilities, and stress relief. Lavender is also a powerful addition to love spells. Keeping lavender in the bedroom can aid in restful sleep, while lavender in the kitchen will bring harmony to the home.
Sage. Sage is the most talked about cleansing herb, and with good reason. Unfortunately, a lot of the sage bundles you can buy at metaphysical stores are made with white sage (Salvia apiana), which is sacred to Native American peoples and is endangered due to overharvesting. Instead of buying those, why not grow your own garden sage (Salvia officinalis), which has a lot of the same magical properties? Growing sage in your home will purify the space and protect those who live there. Sage also has an association with wisdom and mental prowess.
Hoya. Hoya is a common houseplant that you’ve probably seen even if you don’t know it by name. It has a distinctive appearance with waxy, dark green leaves and clusters of white, star-shaped flowers. Hoya aligns and balances the energy centers within your body, as well as in the surrounding space. It’s associated both with grounding and with spiritual openness, so it can be great for balancing the two.
Peppermint. Peppermint has a variety of magical uses, but my favorite way to use it is for gently opening up blockages and getting things moving. It’s great for cleansing, but is more gentle than rosemary or sage. Place it in any room where you tend to do a lot of healing work, or where you could use some peace and love. Peppermint is also used in dream magic, so growing it in the bedroom may bring on vivid or lucid dreams.
Orchid. Orchids are used in magic for love and lust. Historically, orchid has been used in folk medicine to promote male virility and “Jezebel root,” used in American folk magic to attract wealthy male lovers, is a type of orchid root. If you live with a significant other, try growing an orchid in the bedroom to promote passion in your sex life. Otherwise, grow orchids in your home to promote love or to attract romance.
Catnip. If you have cats, they’ll love this one. Catnip is actually a type of mint, and has strong lunar associations. It’s said to make one more charming and attractive, and is especially useful for attracting women. At the same time, catnip promotes courage and fierceness. It is also, of course, associated with cats and feline deities, so this is definitely a plant you’ll want to keep around if the cat is one of your animal guides.
If you have a yard space that you can turn into an outdoor garden, your magical plant options are limited only by your local ecosystem. Some outdoor plants that have magical uses include roses, sunflowers, rue, lemon balm, and strawberries.
Creating an Altar
Altars are focal points of magical and spiritual energy. Many people, both witches and non-witches, find that having a designated space for their spiritual practice creates a deeper sense of sacredness and purpose.
An altar can serve lots of different purposes. Many witches use their altar as a magical work space to prepare spells, meditate, and do divination. You may choose to dedicate your altar to a deity, your ancestors, or some other spirit(s) you work with. You can also build altars for specific intentions, such as a money altar or a love altar — performing rituals at this altar everyday is a powerful method for manifestation. You altar may be some or all of these things, or it may just be a place to sit and connect with the spiritual.
You can set up an altar on any flat surface, like a shelf or table, or inside a container like a jewelry box. Your setup can be as simple or as elaborate as you like. An altar can be huge and complex, with statues and candles and flowers, or it can be as simple as a tealight and an incense burner. It’s all about what appeals to you.

Bedridden witch: Pastel edition
This one is a little less ‘practical’ and more to get into a certain vibe, despite feeling gross while stuck in bed!
Set up:
Hang a crystal prism by your window, let it scatter rainbows around the room.
Get a Himalayan salt lamp.
Decorate with floral designs.
Hang wind chimes outside
Get thin, pale pink or white curtains to help make the lighting more gentle.
Put fairy lights along the top of your room.
Plant flowers in a windowsill planter.
Get tea-light holders that project designs.
Hang scarves or other draping cloths from the ceiling.
Get a floral/pale-colored bedspread.
Put a bird-feeder outside so you can watch them!
To do:
Play with spare bits of energy in the room. Imagine them turning light and release them to help cleanse your room.
Make rose sugar (dry the petals, then layer them in a jar with sugar. Store for a month or so out of the sunlight).
Draw sigils in pale colors and put them on the walls/under your pillow.
Keep bouquets of flowers. When they start to die, hang them on your ceiling to dry.
Read gentle poetry books. Turn them into spells.
Spritz your hair or body with rose water.
Put a few drops of essential oil on a safe vessel and let it’s scent waft around your room.
Burn faintly sweet candles.
Make beaded/crystal chains and hang them around your room, using color and crystal correspondences.
Listen to soothing music.
Burn pink, white, and silver candles.
Keep rose quartz everywhere. Make one into a necklace.
Drink sweet herbal teas - be strategic with correspondences.
Watch the clouds through your window.
Try this lovely visualization technique.
Get scented (or not) wipes to help feel clean even on tough days.
Make moon water for all phases, not just the full moon.
Whisper blessings to the birds that fly by.
Keep amethyst, quartz, rose quartz, and selenite around to help soothe you.
Make a sachet with rose petals, basil, rose/quartz, and a drop of your favorite essential oil for a boost of self-love when needed.
Be gentle on yourself!

a lil’ love jar
so i made a spell to attract love (self, platonic, romantic, any kind!) to yourself, so here goes!
ingredients:
a lil’ jar or container (i’m using a small glass container)
some small slips of paper for sigils (prosperity, love, and luck) or incantations
some wax from a candle (any color you associate with love) for sealing
glitter/confetti (i’m using little star shaped glitters) for wishes
tiny pink flowers or rose petals for love
one (1) drop of any essential oil you see fit to use
something that’s vanilla or cinnamon scented for cleansing (i’m using vanilla incense)
a rose quartz for charging
anything else you wanna use that’s associated with luck, love, peace, etc.
a kiss and some intent!
directions:
cleanse your space with the vanilla/cinnamon whatever. now’s a good time to call forward any deities or guides if you’re using any
light your candle and let the wax melt some bit
draw your sigils and/or write out your incantations. then, place them in the jar. writing/drawing them out will charge them
using a cotton swab, paint brush, etc., place some of the wax on top of the pieces of paper in order to cast them
let the wax dry, and then place some of the glitter in the jar. while doing so, think of what kind of love® you’re hoping to attract. this will work as your “wish”
drop in your little flowers and whatever else you wish to add into your little jar
drop in your one (1) drop of essential oil and close the jar.
finally, kiss the lid of the jar to seal the spell. now’s also a good time to pray to whatever deity or guide that you called upon
let the jar charge in the moon, sun, etc. with a rose quartz
whenever you feel the need for love, just gently shake the jar
and voila! you’re done :)
can anyone else trace their witchcraft back to the hex girls from the critically-acclaimed 1999 film scooby-doo and the witch’s ghost??
Literally me
Together, we are the Lorax. And we speak for the birth of a new world on May 15th.
This is one last info-dump for everyone participating on the May 15th mass spell which will utilize the astrological events:
The new moon in Taurus.
The planet Uranus (the revolutionary lightning bolt of change) enters the sign of Taurus (material reality, resources, and wealth) for the next seven years.
To plant the seeds of a new, more sustainable, and tangibly magical world.
For those of you out there who are still confused as to why May 15th is so important, I’m going to explain it to you via my perspective. I’m no master of astrology but I believe that on May 15th, during the new moon/Uranus enters Taurus event, we all have a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to plant the seeds of a new world into the heart of the Earth and the mind of Source/The Universe. While Uranus moves into a new sign every seven years, I believe this particular movement is CRUCIAL to saving the planet/all life because this revolutionary planet is entering the sign of material reality. What does that mean? It means that we all have a chance, on May 15th, to completely restructure and change physical reality. We have a chance on May 15th to change the rules of our planet Earth simulation and give birth to a new kind of world.
Now I’m not going to tell you what kind of world to dream of. I’m not even going to say that you need to do my suggested ritual. That’s not my place in your journey nor is it my place pretty much at all. That’s for Source and that which is truly mysterious to decide the endgame. But what I am going to say is that on May 15th, we should put our energetic ballots in however we’re gonna do it, and plant the seeds of a new future for this world. Dream a new world up for Earth to be…because any physical structure built on this world was once a dream in the mind of a person/people.
But if you’d like to hear my suggestion for May 15th, I propose we all remember we are a part of Source, and dream a new dream for this world.
Take five minutes even out of your schedule to sit down in a comfortable position, proclaim/remember that YOU ARE SOURCE/an expression of Source (which is called God or is many deities by many names), and that by virtue of this you have the power to change the entire world by simply envisioning it inside your mind or believing in the possibility of it on May 15th. There’s no tools needed. No items. No regalia. Just you and your power to create reality with your imagination, your belief, and your magic.
Those who are driving this world to ruin are certainly doing the same every moment that we breathe!
Here are the times for the new moon. Keep in mind that Uranus enters Taurus a couple of hours after the new moon.
Los Angeles, May 15 at 4:47 am
New York, May 15 at 7:47 am
London, May 15 at 12:47 pm
Delhi, May 15 at 5:17 pm
Sydney, May 15 at 9:47 pm
Some of you might have noticed that I did not suggest an exact time. This is because I want as many people to participate as possible. I believe that keeping the time semi-loose (within a 24 hour period of the event either the night before on the 14th through the evening of the 15th) will be more beneficial to this cause than having only a small band of people willing to do it because their mundane schedules allowed them. Some people have work. Some people have class. Some people are sick. Some people have obligations that I can not anticipate but I think everyone can take five minutes out of their day on the 15th to do one small meditation to themselves and with their own ideas of Source of magic.
Another observation about May 15th that seems relevant is that Uranus enters Taurus quickly after a new moon in Taurus. So in my mind, we will be planting seeds (our dreams for the future) in fertile soil and then harnessing/directing/utilizing that Uranian lightning to strike that fertile soil so our seeds can grow. The implication here is that once the lightning has struck the ground, we can’t wait around for the seeds to sprout. You can expect seeds to instantly yield fruit. These seeds we’ve planted must be tended to. So tend to your energetic seeds in this metaphorical garden scenario after May 15th. Dare to live your seed dreams.
You wanna start a business? Do it.
You keep wanting to leave a relationship that makes you cry? Do it.
You want to explore who you really are and what you identify as without anyone else trying to control that? DO IT.
You believe in sustainable farming? Be the sustainable farming you want to see in the world and make it happen.
You have an invention you’ve been putting off? Don’t put it off anymore.
You have a dream your parents don’t believe in? As long as it doesn’t hurt yourself or others, fuck them-just do it.
You want to just be able to smile or get out of bed? Please, just give one more day or week a chance after May 15th.
Because this May 15th stuff is only setting us up for Nov 7th, when Uranus will retrograde back into the sign it is presently: Aries. During that time, we will have to tend to our seeds again, and I will be doing another thing much like this one. And another one again once Uranus goes direct again in Taurus for the next seven years in 2019. You can imagine that all three rituals done during these Uranus movements are like notching the arrow of a bow, drawing it back, and firing it off. May 15th is special because we are manifesting the arrow, which in this example, is a metaphor for the new world we wanna manifest.
Some of you might be wondering how all of our wildly different visions for the world could all become true. I don’t think it matters much. I’d rather spin the wheel on any one of your dreams, Tumblr magicians and believers, than I would risk doing nothing at all. Or letting those fucking up this world decide. Besides, in my perception, all sorts of conflicting realities live right next to each other perfectly fine every day. However, and I may be naive in believing this, but…I think every dream for the future planted on that day fits into the grand design in ways that I cannot and will not claim to understand. And that all these wildly different visions are needed for the turbulence of what’s to come. Let the Universe decide the pattern of the weaving but let’s provide the Universe with our threads to weave with.
And finally:
For those of you who were particularly interested in the knife idea and connecting the world tangibly with the worlds of magic once more…May 15th is the perfect time to begin building a bridge. Please message me for more info about this if that’s your goal. Because ultimately, that’s my goal on May 15th.
In order to save Earth’s future, I believe we must reconnect it to the worlds of magic once again, and bring about a new age of understanding reality. A revelation, you could say. I am just one of many standing amongst the magic community who believe this. I know there are more people out there who believe this in their truest hearts and I’m calling out now-I’m calling out to everyone of you who believes in that-to do something on May 15th to call that reconnection back into being! I’m calling you to act now! Believe now! Do whatever you can to dream that bridge into being on May 15th!
Anyways, there you go. That’s my rant. Feel free to message me, pick my mind, fire off questions… Send them to my mailbox. Ask me on my blog. I will do my best to answer each one to the best of my abilities.
So before tonight ends and we all prepare to change the world, from one dreamer to another, let’s give May 15th our best shot. No matter what the Cosmos grand design makes of our individual shots. Together, let’s dare to believe, and dream in a new world.
Because one is coming after May 15th.
