after meeting with another designer who wanted their clothing showcased on her site, izabel was then running around to a coupe different stores, getting outfits in order for an upcoming event, which in total would be six different looks to choose from. not as many as there typically would be, considering this was more lowkey, as opposed to more stressful ones such like the movie & tv awards that just passed. usually it wasn’t something she did without the client accompanying her, but took the liberty since they had a prior engagement at the moment. 

few bags hanging from her arms, she’d just arrived to her final location, cartier, to pick up some accessories, when she’d overheard the conversation being had from the man just outside the store. a dilemma she’d dealt with herself time again. “THREE WEEKS on a two day delivery is pretty unacceptable, they definitely need to reimburse you somehow, and get things in order on their end. did they at least give you a reason to why it’s so late ??” 

“i suppose they could’ve handled the situation slightly better,” he agreed with a nod, then looked at the woman who was talking to him. “but it’s okay, it’s not like i need the money,” he admitted, never having felt like he needed an excuse for his wealth. he was simply rich, and most of his money had come from his parents and his trust fund. but it wasn’t his fault that he was so rich, so he didn’t know why he’d feel apologetic about it.

“they didn’t, no. the girl on the phone said it might’ve gotten stopped at customs, but i’m pretty sure that’s just code for ‘lost’. so, i’ll probably just get a new one.”

renee was just standing in front of a jewelry store, debating whether or not silver was more melinda’s color over gold… or not. she didn’t think they were at a stage for her to buy her anything like that gorgeous ring, they weren’t at any state really but a girl could dream. she heard a guy on the phone, quite upset that his delivery was no where to be found apparently and she felt for him. that is mostly the reason she went out to buy things instead of ordering them. she hated waiting. instant gratification was something the enjoyed, and it was also her downfall. “three weeks waiting time? at what time can you sue them?” she asked, not really caring that she had no clue who this man was. shame wasn’t generally something she felt.

he laughed at the woman’s joke — hoping it was a joke, at least, and then shook his head. “it’s okay,” he said with a half-hearted smile. “i’ll just have to go out and get something else,” he replied. the gift he’d gotten had been a gadget gift, something he’d assume his friend would enjoy because he’d often seen him with technology nic nacs that silas had never seen before. it was a fun gift, but it had taken him a long time to find as well — he’d spent hours scrolling through pages of online stores to find that one gift that would give him that ‘aha’ feeling. “i’m sure there should be something on the whole of fifth avenue that will qualify.”

Georgia didn’t often listen in on other peoples conversations or phone calls but on this one she couldn’t help herself, it was something she could relate to so well and she honestly felt for the man. She had been in his situations a few times and it never helped when the person on the other end of the phone didn’t seem to be helping you feel better as a customer.

Georgia was sitting a few feet away from him, when the man got off the phone she looked at him. “I would cancel it if I were you, I know these things can’t always be helped but they should be working their ass off to make you feel better while they try to fix the issue for you, they shouldn’t be coming up with excuses they should just sort things out.”

looking to the side, he listened as the woman told him what she thought he would do, but then shook his head once she’d finished talking. “oh, no, it’s no use cancelling — they told me it’s out for delivery already. it must’ve gotten lost somewhere along the way.” it was only a $100 gift, he could easily just buy a new one without worrying about the one that got lost. the only problem was that he was worried he wouldn’t find anything new on time.

“besides, i think i was speaking to a very young employee, probably someone without much knowledge of the company. i didn’t want to make her feel too bad about something that’s not her fault. but it’s okay, i can get something else.”

Randy had so few pleasant and friendly clients that he always remembered the ones that treated him well and always had a smile on their face. So many of his clients thought they could treat him how they wanted because they were paying him a lot of money.  “Taking it from him Randy studies it for a few seconds before handing it back to him with the files. “ How is your dad doing? I miss seeing him around here.”

silas had gotten used to people talking about his wonderful parents — they tended to leave a good impression wherever they went. it meant that silas had grown up idolizing them both, and having the luck to realize as an adult that the adulation was not unwarranted. “he’s doing good, oh yeah,” he said with a nod, taking hold of both his driver’s license and the files that he was picking up. “he and mom are actually taking a three month trip to south asia, travelling around.

Audrea was lounging on the couch; her work papers strewn all over the leather upholstery, her laptop perched on her lap, and a cup of tea on the coffee table. The blonde had a pen held and touching her temple, while her other hand held a single piece of paper. She had been reading the same sentence over and over ––- unfocused ––- when she overheard the conversation her boyfriend was having on the phone.

“Who did you order it from?” She asked when he hung up, starting to get a feeling that her boyfriend was cheated on by an online shopping website. “Would you like to go to Harrods to see if the similar item is there? Or maybe purchase something better?” Audrea tried to suggest.

silas lived for lazy sundays like this, the both of them relaxed on the couch, him sitting at the end of the couch with her feet on his lap as they both worked quietly. he’d been watching some tv before the phone had rang, the sound barely on not to disturb her while she focused on her work.

he was gently stroking her legs while on the phone, though as it had taken longer he’d stopped doing that as he got more into the phone call. with a sigh, he looked sideways to audrea, then rolled his eyes to show his annoyance at the packaging service. “usps, which is usually not that bad. i guess they must’ve lost it, it happens,” he told her with a shrug. then, at her next words, he mulled them over for a minute, then furrowed his brows. “i don’t want to distract you from you work,” he said, glancing at the papers all around her. “i can go by myself,” he said with an encouraging smile, not wanting her to feel obliged to join him.

hearing the male saying those, she noticed that she may have been really frustrated with work, also the things going on back home on the back of her mind. charlotte lets out a slight chuckle, “i may have let my thoughts overtake me, and oh, the music. i’m sorry if that disturbed you,” she says, taking her gloves off so she could drink some water. the stranger looked a bit intimidated by the aggressiveness she’s shown awhile ago. “i’ll tone it down a bit, i promise.”

“no, it’s okay,” he replied with a smirk as he took another look at the bag behind her. “it’s fine, i just thought i’d see if you were fine — you know, before you damage the bag beyond repair.” he tried to keep it light, although she didn’t seem as fond of his lighthearted conversation as he was. “but uhm — if you’re all right, i’ll just let you get to it, i suppose.”

Lexi looked at Silas as he was on the phone, perplexed by how he was just willing to let it slide. “Hand me the phone,” She said to him, holding her hand out as she waited for him to give it over. “If you really want that gif to arrive, you make it arrive. or we go get something better,”

“what? — no,” he replied when she demanded to see his phone. it wasn’t that he didn’t trust her with his electronics — because he did, but he didn’t trust her to not scold some poor employee into quitting. “it’s fine, this happens. things get lost, or misplaced. it’s fine. i’ll just get something new.”

“three weeks is a long time to wait for something overdue,” rosalie commented, having overheard the phone conversation. she was both disappointed and impressed with the male’s self-control. had a company screwed her over in the same fashion, the redhead might have been not so merciful. she’d chalk that fact up to her upbringing, a trait passed down from her father. 

“you know it’s alright to be upset when someone doesn’t deliver their product on time,” she hummed with an entertained twinkle in her green eyes, surveying him for good measure. “you can even be a little pissed. at least you’ll get your money back, and maybe something extra.” rosalie suggested with a hint of mischievousness in her voice, “let me call them back for you.”

he glanced sideways once he’d put his phone away, not expecting a reply after his sole outburst of annoyance. “uhm — yes, it is,” he admitted with a smirk, nodding to add force to his words. as she continued, he raised his eyebrows, though the action was mostly hidden by his sunglasses, but then cleared his throat and shook his head. “oh, no, i know. it’s just uh, well it wouldn’t arrive any sooner if i got angry, and the woman i was on the phone with wasn’t exactly responsible for it being late. she’s only in charge of the clients’ phone calls.” he snorted at her last sentence, the spirit of the woman reminding her a little of audrea’s fire. “no, please, that won’t be necessary. thank you, though. but i think i’ll just try and find a new birthday present. i still have two days, that’s not an impossible task, right?”

Randy didn’t often take calls from his grandmother at work unless it was something to do with her health or an issue she was having at her care home, but as it had been a while since they’d spoken he’d felt bad so ended up talking to her for almost an hour.  “Oh yes, I remember him friendly chap.” He replied smiling as he unlocked his desk drawer and pulled the papers out.  “Sorry do you have something to prove you are who you say you are.” He replied looking at him.  “ Sorry about this, it’s just something we have to do with any private information.”

“that would be the one,” silas replied with a smirk. it wasn’t the first time his dad had been described like that. especially in new york, it seemed, friendliness was a rare trait that drew attention. then, when the lawyer asked for confirmation of identity, silas immediately reached for the pocket of his shirt to get out his wallet. “oh, yes, of course,” he replied as he looked for his driver’s license. he rarely drove or was asked for i.d., so it took him a few seconds to find it, but then gave it over to the man as he nodded. “no, of course, i understand. i’m actually glad to know you’re checking.”

“yes, no, of course — i understand that. i’m not saying it’s anyone’s fault, i’m just calling because i ordered it three weeks ago and it was supposed to have arrived after two days tops.” usually, silas was fairly laid back about shipping times, but he’d ordered a birthday present online for one of his friends, and his birthday was in two days. if the present wouldn’t arrive on time, he’d still have to look for another one.

“right,” he said after another five minutes of pointless chatter. “so bottom line, you have no idea when it arrives, right?” he said, trying his very best to hide his frustration. “no, it’s fine - i understand.” then, as he ended the call, he sighed and looked up. “damn,” he breathed out, trying to decide whether he should just search for a new present now or it give it just a little bit more time.

Holding his phone to his ear Randy rolled his eyes looking at the other. “ Gran I miss you too, but I really have to go, I will come to see you as soon as I can. Speak to you soon love you.” He replied before hanging up the phone. “Sorry about that, now how can I help you?”

silas waited patiently for the lawyer to finish his conversation, though he couldn’t suppress the slight chuckle when he heard the man talk to his grandmother. once he put the phone down, he took a step closer towards the desk but waited to be addressed before speaking up. “i’m here on behalf of my dad — jeff dalton? he told he there were some papers i needed to pick up? it’ll have something to do with next month’s charity ball for unicef.”

charlotte puts on her boxing gloves and her bluetooth headset, putting on radioactive by imagine dragons, as she started her workout with the heavy bag. she was a busy person, she needed to keep herself fit. also, boxing helps her think, to let out frustrations from work and that pressure she feels sometimes. then she felt a tap on her shoulder, causing her to stop and take her headset off. “i’m sorry, what is it?”

silas usually worked out at home, but occasionally he ventured out to the world of commercial gyms whenever he felt himself getting bored with his own routine. today was such a day, and he’d been lifting some light weights as he’d been thinking about the upcoming trip he’d planned for audrea, audrey and philip when his thoughts were interrupted by the increasing intensity of a boxer near him. putting down the weights, he walked over to her and carefully tapped her on the shoulder, making sure his jaw wouldn’t become the next target of her boxing glove because he’d spooked her. “uh—” he started with an infectious smile, running a hand through his hair. “just wanted to know if everything was all right. you seem to really be going to town on that poor bag.”

franny turned around hearing silas start to speak to her, the girl looked at the waiter he’d taken the champagne from and leaned over. she whispered something to him and he nodded his head walking away. she knew they’d have non-alcoholic drinks in the back because part of being pregnant meant not alcohol and caffeine which franny had no idea about that before hand. “yeah brunch is pretty amazing. i basically grew up with brunch every week if not then every other week.”

silas completely missed the part where the youngest reinaldi took the waiter aside, instead only focusing his attention on her when she replied to what he’d been saying. “oh, yes, i can imagine putting on an event like this takes practice, i’m sure your family had lots of it,” he said, a compliment not just to the reinaldi’s current brunch, but all of their previous events as well. “it’s - francesca, right?” he said, hoping that he hadn’t just called her by a name that wasn’t hers. he knew adriana and celeste better than he knew their youngest sister, but while he was fairly certain he’d tried the right name, or at least went with one close to the real deal.

Audrea was giggling with Audrey at Phillips criticism on the man; she had a suspicion with Phillip’s commentaries, but the blonde decided she would say nothing and just let it go and consider it a joke, or maybe Phillip’s protective instincts. Audrey decided to tease Phillip about it and Audrea could just laugh while her back was turned to Silas, not seeing him approach her until he wrapped his arm around her waist. She kept her eyes on Silas while he greeted her sister and brother-in-law.

“Hi,” the blonde said sweetly to him. She leaned in towards him when he did and they kissed for a few seconds and she hummed a little before pulling away. The girl chuckled at the implied compliment and blushed a little. “Well, thank goodness you did not listen to what he said,” Audrea said. She could feel him radiating with love for her, and Audrea was grateful. Her mind tried to convince her heart that she loved him just as much ––- considering how right he had been treating her; it was as if he had jumped out of her fifteen-year-old diary that consisted of the list of what she would like her prince charming to be like. She glanced at Audrey who was smiling wide, happy to watch the interaction between them.

“Yeah, I need some bourbon. Don’t tell Audrey that, though,” he whispered and smirked at the girl. Audrey had always had a problem with him drinking at least one glass of bourbon a day. Phillip rolled his eyes visibly when Audrea told him that the four of them will be seated together and that it would be fun. There is no way it would be fun for him to see Silas and Audrea cozying up to each other the entire day.

“We are? That is wonderful! I’m sure Silas will have a lot of stories to tell about is mission. I can’t wait to hear them,” Audrey chimed in. Phillip could not hear the last thing that Audrea said about gossip girl, he was too focused on Silas coming over to the three of them. There were two options here; he could act hostile around the man, or maybe he can be a bigger person and just act welcoming even though he did not like his presence around them at all.

“Silas,” Phillip acknowledged him, offering his hand to shake his. “It has been a while. Welcome back to New York,” he said. Anyone could see that he was trying to take option two here, but that was until Phillip leaned in to kiss the girl in front of them. At that point, Phillip was seething. He was burning with jealousy, meanwhile Audrey was just giddy with happiness next to him witnessing her sister completely in love with the man.

Phillip could not hold himself back from clearing his throat and then looking away from the two, immersing himself in something else rather than to hear Silas talk about how lucky he was to have Audrea.

silas was getting a bit caught up in the kiss, until he heard phillip clearing his throat - and then pulled away playfully, grinning from ear to ear and blushing slightly. “sorry,” he said as he turned to the other two guests, “i’ve just really missed her.” at that, audrey seemed to beam with excitement, and he happily let his arm rest on audrea’s back before he replied to the older man’s acknowledgement. “too long,” he repeated once more. he could see that both sisters were close, and had hoped from the start of his relationship with audrea that phillip and him could grow close as well.

in fact, he realized, it was the perfect moment to share another exciting little tidbit that he’d been keeping secret from audrea. “actually,” he started, standing up straight with his shoulders back to make the announcement, “i booked the four of us for a flight two weekends from now — for a four day holiday to greece. one of my coworkers was talking about its amazing beaches, and i just knew i needed to take audrea there. and, since i won’t have any foreign missions this summer, i thought it was the ideal getaway to start the summer.” at first, he’d planned to only book the flight and hotel for audrea and himself, but after a long conversation where audrea had continuously brought up both phillip and her sister, he’d decided to go ahead and book two of the hotel suites, thinking it the perfect opportunity for the four of them to unwind and spend some time together. 

“sorry i didn’t tell you earlier, babe -  i was gonna share it with you yesterday, but in all the commotion of coming back home, i completely forgot,” he said to audrea, although he more just wanted to gauge her ( hopefully positive ) reaction to the news he’d just shared. “so — what do you think?” he asked, mostly to audrea but really to all three of his conversation partners.

Audrea was looking for Silas. She knew what she was going to face, but she was more scared if Silas were to find out for someone else and had the wrong idea before she had the chance to explain. The blonde was trying to make her way through the crowd when a woman stopped her to start a conversation; Audrea tried to escape from her but she continued to ramble about things that Audrea could only entertain when she does not have any other important thing in her agenda.

“That’s interesting, Mrs. Roberts,” Audrea responded. “I’m sorry, but have you seen Silas by any chance? I have to find him urgently,” She asked. The woman responded with a no but then rambled on about how she and Silas made a good pair. That was when she felt a hand on the small of her back and her breath was caught in her throat; there he was. She excused herself as well and went into the corner of the room.

Audrea was about to say it when he told her he already received pictures regarding what happened with Ethan. She dared herself to look into his eyes, and she could see him in pain and vulnerable. Audrea had never seen Silas like that and she could only feel guilt even if it was easy for her to blame Ethan for all of it, but she wanted to make things right.

“Silas…” she began, her voice just as pleading as his. “It was-” Audrea tried to find the right words to explain it to him. “He set me up, darling, you have to believe me,” Audrea convinced him. She began to explain, “I did not know what was going on and all of a sudden he kissed me and I pushed him away immediately but you know Gossip Girl and all their minions ––- they must have told him to do it and set up people to take pictures of what happened.” The girl took his hand in hers and held them tight, “Please believe me. It was fake; they staged it to make a scene. You know I have no reason to betray you, and you know I would never do that.”

he wasn’t sure if there was any explanation that would satisfy him, settle his emotions even in the slightest, but he still wanted her to try. he couldn’t understand why she would possibly risk so much, and as he waited for a reply, he tried his very best not to jump to conclusions. it wasn’t easy. 

“don’t darling me,” he cut in, his voice sharp. it was a tone unlike any other he’d ever used with her. but that word made him feel like she was mocking him, like he wasn’t entitled to feel as hurt, as betrayed as he did, and until she would come up with ( or try and fail to come up with ) a satisfactory explanation, he sure as hell was entitled to feel however he pleased.

as she rambled on, however, he relaxed ever so slightly. gossip girl. the word itself should have him tense up, scared of his own previous actions, but in this particular moment the word felt almost soothing. he let her finish, let her spin the story as he tried to wrap his head around it to see whether or not what she said matched up. 

in all the confusion of the moment, silas hadn’t actually looked at her expression in the picture. he’d seen audrea, and ethan, and he’d seen their lips locked together. could he tell whether or not audrea was .. into it? he couldn’t tell. he hadn’t bothered to look, instead stared himself blind on her lips.

“fake,” he repeated once she was done as the words slowly started to sink in. then, before saying more, he took out his phone again to once more check the picture. it was unclear. her version of the story held up to the image — but if she’d told him that kiss had been the best of her life, that would also hold up. it was too vague to see.

“but -” he started, when the questions surrounding what she’d told him were projected into his mind, “why? why would she - he - god, it, i don’t know, make anyone do that? why would she even care? i don’t understand.” he was calmer now, but there was still a lot left unexplained, and even though what she’d told him sounded sincere, he couldn’t help the suspicion rising in him.
