Mmmmm
I was going to post this recipe on Sunday but thanks to a delayed school opening Monday I was able to tweak it even more (and test it on my kids!). The first batch I made used a combination of coconut and almond flour, and I found the resulting taste a little too sweet. I nixed the...

Back to Basics
One thing I have noticed with our lifestyle change when it comes to food is getting back to basics. People may be quick to criticise the Paleo lifestyle but when you break it down it is essentially about where you source your food from, the ethics behind how the food is killed, treated etc and understanding what is in your food.
I am lucky enough to have sustainability and horticultural qualifications behind me so I have been practising a lot of these things without realising I was following Paleo principles. With this I am going to expand my information sharing and thoughts on some of the environmental aspects of living Paleo. Even going as far as sharing information about growing food at home.

Find three hobbies you love: one to make you money, one to keep you in shape, and one to be creative.

Scan the fine print on almost any processed food in the grocery store and you’re likely to find emulsifiers: Ingredients such as polysorbate 80, lecithin, carrageenan, polyglycerols, and xanthan and other “gums,” all of which keep ingredients—often oils and fats—from separating. They are also used to improve the texture and shelf-life of many foods found... Read More

I think I'll have to try this on the weekend 😋
Check Up at the Doctors
The hubby and I are well on the way with our new lifestyle. We are tending to lean towards a 80:20 approach at the moment. Some of the more unusual ingredients can be a challenge out in the country but that's where the 80:20 approach comes into play.
It's been a good month now and yesterday we took a trek down to the big smoke to go for a check up with our doctor. The doctor was impressed my blood pressure is good (now I just have to get off the tablets), almost at two years of no smoking and I've lost 7kgs. My blood sugar was high at my last blood test so I had another blood test hoping with some lifestyle changes its come down and won't have to up my diabetes medication.
My husband smashed it out the ball park with a 13kg loss. He still has an issue with his blood pressure and quitting smoking is a work in progress for him. One step at a time as they say.
Needless to say we are very proud of our achievements.

Definitely have to give this a try!
Yes, you read that right. I think I have invented Paleo Naan and it only requires THREE ingredients. Truthfully, it was my mom who came up with this recipe but since I’m her kid, she has given me full permission to claim this genius recipe as my own. The beauty of this recipe is that… [read more]

Granola and peppermint tea... A nice paleo start to the day 😊
This week, when someone asked me which of the hundreds of recipes on my site is the most popular of all time, I drew a complete blank. In all the years I’ve been publishing recipes on Nom Nom Paleo, it had never occurred to me to peer that deeply into my blog’s analytics.

I have found living in a little town organic food is a little harder to come buy. These are foods I don't need to worry so much about.
This is a very relevant question for those who are just embarking on their gluten-free journey. But, it’s also extremely important for anyone who has been following a paleo/primal/gluten-free diet for a while, but has been inadvertently exposed to gluten. It sometimes feels as though the longer we avoid gluten, the more sick we feel …
