lately i've been challenging myself with rendering full scenes because i've never really been one to finish art like this. im pretty pleased with the contrast in the scene! when i finished my first pass of rendering and changed it to grayscale, the canvas looked like this:

fairly clear, but definitely some room to exaggerate values. squinting i can't really make out the form. so I went in with good old #FFFFFF and #000000 to bring the subject to the foreground:

and after going through with some additional tweaks (dodge and burn layers plus shimmying the contrast and lightness around), the final piece in grayscale looks like this:

certainly not perfect but an improvement to the composition yipeepee

i also used a blur + color dodge dupe layer for the lineart, slight blur on the bg and distant parts of the subject (couldn't help myself), and an overlay to give the shadows some nice hues yayyy

[PSA] Spam Private Messages

We're currently investigating a spate of spam private messages being sent to players on the site.

These private messages do not have links in them. They're quite friendly and are heavily focused on topics typically associated with Flight Rising players, like role-play, art commissions, etc. From there, they'll invite you to privately message them over on Discord (currently), where whatever link or file they send you won't be flagged.

This is a common tactic, to isolate the intended victim by bringing them to a "second place."

Never go to the second place. If what they're looking to discuss in private messages is legitimate, they'll have no problems discussing their topics on the Flight Rising website.

Please be careful when you're being sent an unknown link or file. Don't download files or click on links from people employing these tactics online.

Weaver and her wife, a centaur named Mayuri Dapplemane! They are both tailors in Podsgarden. They do tend to specialize in dragon and beastclan apparel respectively, but they collaborate often on projects. They're also both emigrants from Dragonhome, which is where the Dapplemane herd originated.

I have a new blind box concept to share with you guys today, a collab between me and @grimae. Which Vigil figures from our set will you collect?

We spent a lot of time on these, so… I really hope you find the concept fun or interesting, even if you don't like Vigils a ton :D Let me know which one is your favourite! I like the whitegold one the best.

These are once again blind boxes! You will receive one of these skins at random. We have prepared 3 different Vigil M accents. The boxes cost 500g each. There is an even distribution of the skins within the boxes - that is, if there are 60 signups total, then 20 of each Vigil skin will be distributed at random among the signups.
