[and/or tell me what verse you want...?]
Will you tell us what your childhood was like? Did your mom prefer you over Danny?
[walker AU? *mun is incompetent*]
âHm... Yeah, probâly.â he muttered, sighing a little, âD-Dan was a difficult kid sometimes... He was the one whoâd g-get into fights and cause problems at school. Youâd think...the opposite, since I was b-bigger.â But heâd never enjoyed causing pain. Danny had.
âI mean, I d-donât think she loved me more,â he said. âThink I was just...easier tâdeal with sometimes.â
Do you have any tattoos?
[mun assumes this is normal-life AU c:]
âNope! Thought about it, though. Not sure what Iâd get. Â Any ideas...?â
Will you tell us what Dan was like before the world went to hell?
He paused and thought about it a few moments, since the memories of his brotherâs violence were still rather fresh.Â
âHe was...alright. Sometimes,â he mumbled. âI mean, he w-was always...pretty different from me. T-type of kid whoâd change a D t-to an A anâ lie his way outta trouble.â Which was fair, all things considered.Â
âMost of the time we g-got along, âtil he was about twelve, anâ I-I was sixteen. Things...started goinâ pretty downhill after that. B-but sometimes, things were good, too.â He trailed off and sighed, shaking his head.
I still think you're a monster
He frowned, but, it wasnât as though there was much he could say about it. So he just shrugged a little, âF-figures.â
Do you still eat human meat?
"N-no! ...No. Never again..." he was quiet, anf wretched a little at the idea.
"Prob'ly won't ever eat veal again either. That's what..w-what it tastes like. Shitty veal."
Do you believe you deserve what your brother did to you?
"Hmm..."
He was quiet for a moment and thought about it, and finally he shrugged. "I o-oughtta' be punished anyway," he said simply, with another shrug. "As t-terrible as...it may sound, 'm grateful, in a way... He ain't here t'hurt anybody anymore. An' I mean, my...mind still works. B-but it works slower now. An' sometimes, if I-I try, I almost f-forget about ev'rythin' I did." Almost.
Why didn't you leave? Or even tell your mother about it?
"How could I leave?" He asked. "Mama knew all a-about it, when things got real bad... She didn' like it o'course, but that was 'er son. An' he was m-my little brother..." And in the end of the world, family was all they had. Even if it was terrible.Â
He sighed, and shook his head a bit. "Even if 'e was crazy... He was still my brother."
If you refused did he ever hurt you?
"He threatened to..." he paused, thinking about it, and shrugging a little, "We ex...exchanged blows a f-few times, but... the last time'e hit me w-was the last time...
He'd killed Danny that time. It wasn't something that he was proud of, but it was what'd happened.
"I-I was....never aggressive," he said simply. "D-Danny was diff'rent. Got a kick outta hurtin' people. It was m-more mental threats than physical...I guess."
Did Danny make you kill people a lot?
"I-I mean... he never really FORCED me... n-not at gunpoint, anyway..." he tensed a little at the thought.
"It's just...w-when the world's gone an' you only have your family there... Y'might as well b-be at gunpoint all th'time..."
Help From Strangers...
[I glare at you and cover up my wound. Could I really afford to trust you after what happened with the last people I met? WellâŚyou didnât look dangerous really and youâd already said that you were unarmed and had no intention of hurting me. I couldnât pass up this opportunityâŚI was very badly injured and losing a lot of blood.]
"My name is SaritaâŚand Iâve been stabbed. Itâs pretty bad and I could use some medical attention. "
"A-alright," he muttered quietly, averting eye contact after a moment, removing bandages and gauze and tape from his bag, as well as a small bottle of hydrogen peroxide.Â
He stepped a bit closer to her and poured some of the fluid onto a cloth, "This m-might s....sting a little." He cussed a little at the slowness of his voice, but started cleaning and covering up the wound.Â
"How.... long you b-been alone for...?"
Band and Basketball (closed RP w/graduatedbandgeek)
David had not been entirely bored watching the students play, some of whom he was familiar with. It was interesting to watch them play, to see Andrewâs teaching methods as well; sitting with a phone in his hands, periodically checking the time or answering the questioning texts of the upperclassmen.
When everything was done and Andy approached him, he stayed sitting for a few moments. âTheyâve improved.â It was truth, last time he had watched them they hadnât been so functionalâ or trusting of each other.
âOf course.â He answered the other with eagerness, apparently David didnât want to head back to working so soon or he really wanted a caramel mocha; the latter was more likely. âOr we could get dinner?â
"Oh! WellâŚ"
He was quiet and thought a moment. He wasnât sure how he felt about David, exactlyâŚÂ
It wasnât any kind of dislike, of course. Not at all, actually. He liked him. Which was problematic. Damn it, Andyâs last two major relationships had been with womenâwho heâd genuinely been attracted to! Heâd thought that perhaps it wouldnât ever be something to deal with again.
But alas, he was wrongâŚ
"Heh⌠âFraid I donât think I can," he said. It was a lie, but he was usually convincing. "See, most of the time, I work on this small dairy farm near Maconâmy family owns it. Anâ I usually eat with my mother and my brother⌠Mamaâd be real mad if I didnât let her know ahead of time, and Iâll be expected pretty soonâŚ"
He smiled a little, merely to make it clear that it wasnât something against David himself. âIâd invite youâŚâ But no.
Lone Wolves [closed RP with seenxitxbefore]
Heâd been wandering almost aimlessly for a few days now. Once that group had up and left them, things had gone bad, and Dannyâd gone absolutely crazy. Andy was all alone now, and he was different. He couldnât walk right or talk right, and he was always dizzy. Even his features had changed a littleâhe looked sleepy, his features a little bit sunken. Not too noticeable, but still there.
He carried a lot of supplies with himâa handgun, a knife, a metal bat that he kept in a bat-bag on his back. A backpack with a few water bottles and some food. None of the stuff he and his mother and brother had been making these last couple monthsâthat stuff made him feel sick.
Eventually he found an old-looking house in a quiet, still-rural area. And, after a few minutes of just looking around, he made his way inside quietly, just hoping to get some real sleep.
But, despite now being deaf in one ear, he thought he heardâŚsomething.
"âŚHello?"
Jane had finally settled into the houseâs small attic. Sheâd slept there for days; it definitely wasnât the most comfortable place, but it provided shelter and concealed her from walkers and wandering survivors  or so she thought.Â
The woman stared at the wooden ceiling conformed to the shape of the roof above. The house was old, and signs of wear could be seen at any turn.  She sighed as a breeze came in through a shattered window.Â
The sound of creaking below startled the woman, and she bolted up. The motion caused a loose board to squeak. She assumed that the wind caused the unsettling noises in the house, so she slowly lowered herself back down, the same board creaking as it moved with her.Â
Janeâs ear was pressed to the firm floor, heart still racing. A voice calling out made the racing stop. She felt her heart skip a beat. She thought that this place was hidden  that no one would ever find it!
The woman stood and strolled to the corner of the attic, her boots scraping across the floor. That was not a smart move. Now the intruder could probably find out where she was.
"Hmmm..."
He didn't say anything for a few moments, merely walking around quietly. The house wasn't in total ruins--like whoever had initially occupied it had done so without a struggle.
But the thought of that was unsettling as well. Because what if the previous occupier had never left? Perhaps they'd died in peace, but had never left as a walker...
Still, Andy didn't have the time or patience to question all of that. And as the sound came from above him he tensed. "Hello?" He called for the second time. "...I-I ain't lookin' for trouble. An'I'm alone..."
Mun: *bursts into hysterical tears and crying*
Andy: ...
Help From Strangers...
[Cautiously, I looked you up and down and backed away from you. I know you had said you wouldnât do anything violent, but I had been tricked into thinking that before. Thatâs when I truly learned that strangers couldnât be trusted. However, I needed medical attention, or at least medical supplies. The cut in my side wasnât getting any better after all, but I didnât trust youâŚ]
[I took another good look at you, and nodded slowly.] âYesâŚIâm aloneâŚwho are you and what do you want?â
"I-I'm Andy Saint John," he repeated, with a similar degree of caution. However, he didn't think that this woman would be able to hurt him even if he tried, "I'm just lookin' f-for a group..."
He was quiet a moment, before realizing she was bleeding. "Hey... you... y'need some help?" He asked, still nervous, but not terribly so. "I used t'work on a farm, I've g-got some experience with injuries..." he cussed quietly at how slowly his words came out.
"What's your n-name...?"
Help From Strangers...
[With a groan, I press forward in on the trail. I was in the middle of an enormous forest, with no idea where I was headed. I didnât have a group, but was unfortunate enough to meet a very hostile collection of people. They demanded I give them my supplies and lead them to my group but when I told them I had neither, they attacked me. One had a gun but missed the shot, but another managed to stab me on my left side. I knew I needed help, but where was I going to find it in here?]
[Suddenly, a twig snaps somewhere behind me and I jump in surprise.] âOh, greatâŚmore people.â [I look around but didnât see any signs of life. Just as I was about to go on, another twig snapped. Paranoid now more than ever, I crouch down and pick up a rock, ready to attack if need be.] âWhoâs there!?â
thehesitantwolf
Andy jumped slightly, not scared so much as surprised. It only sounded like there was one other person.
He'd been a few feet away near the trees, and hadn't even noticed Sarita up until this point. "I-I ain't gonna do... a-anything violent," he said, stepping closer slowly so that she could see him.
His face seemed tired, eyes sleepy, features a bit sunken. Not too noticeable, but still there. That was just how he looked after what Danny did to him.
"I-I'm... Andy. Andy Saint John," he muttered, a little sadly, "And I-I'm alone. Y'alone?"
Band and Basketball (closed RP w/graduatedbandgeek)
4:30? Band practice would be ending around six..Well he could cancel it; schedule for a Saturday rehearsal from two to six. He could text a few of the seniors to tell the others rehearsal was canceled. A bemused chuckle graced his lips as he pictured the students faces when they realized they could go home.
âWhy donât I come with you and watch?â It wasnât a question, not really, David was going to find himself going through with his plan whether or not he could watch. He could linger in the band hall of the other said noâ play his flute if he wanted to.
âIf you donât mind that is. I-I wouldnât want to intrude or anything.â He took a few steps to the door, having already picked up his keys to lock the room. âItâll be fun and if you agree maybe next time Iâll let you watch me âcoachâ my kids.â Play on words!
Shit.
"Oh. Well, if youâre sure youâd rather do that, then⌠I wouldnât mind it, really." That was a dirty lie, but he was a good liar, so it didnât really matter.Â
"They get kinda nervous when someoneâs watchinâ, though. Outside of games." In games, the crowds were too big to focus on particular people. But with just one person watchingâŚ
Still, he was careful about it and made it look like he didnât mind too much. And he didnât acknowledge the fact that he was nervous as David watched him coaching. He wasnât a loud or angry coach as some could be, so he didnât worry about being seen as a brute or as unkind.Â
Once four thirty came, he turned his attention to David, a little awkwardly. âTheyâre not olympic champs,â he said simply, shrugging a bit, âBut they ainât badâŚâ he paused, and cleared his throat, âYou still wanna get coffeeâŚ?â
