Robin | 21 | Any Pronouns BG3 really has me reentering my tumblr era I couldnât pass a reverse Bechdel test to save my life. If you ask me to write for a man you will be sorely disappointed.
Karlachâs story is, obviously, one of the most devastating in BG3 when you look at it in its entirety: trapped in the hells for ten years. But the more you break her story into the little moments, the sadder it gets.
What must it have been like that first night in Avernus? Even before Zariel strapped her down and tore out her heart, shoving an engine in its place.
How long could she cry before the tears stopped coming? Was she even given a decent tent or bedroll to cry in, or was she forced to do it surrounded by unfamiliar strangers? I know she would have given anything to be crying in her own bed. Oh gods, if she had to embrace such terror why couldnât she do it surrounded by the smell of clean linens, the smell that had always reminded her of her mother? She missed her mother. She missed her friends. She missed everyone who wasnât here with here with her. Alone.
She was hardly an adult. She hadnât quite learned to navigate on her own yet. Was it that she was young, or was this just an impossible situation to navigate? Both. It was the most horrible combination of both. No one should have ever been forced to navigate this situation Alone.
Did she even speak infernal when she arrived, or were the unfamiliar people around her also speaking in an unfamiliar tongue? Did people try to speak to her only to be met with a fragile âIâm sorry. I donât understand.â Did they offer her a sympathetic smile or did they just walk away? Even a stranger could have been a comfort to her then. But who was she to speak to? Alone.
Did she have Clive with her that first night? Did she hold him tight to her chest and quietly whisper all the comforts to him she so desperately needed someone to offer to her? Itâs okay, buddy. I know everything feels really really scary right now and like things might not ever be okay again, but they will be, okay? Iâve got you, I promise. He couldnât provide half the comforts of a living companion, but he could, at least, make her feel a little less Alone.
Were there blissful moments of distraction? Simple things that could make her forget, for a fleeting moment, where she was? Oh, but that sinking feeling that set in her stomach each time she was drawn back to reality. The more she thought about it the more details she found to terrify her. The only âwaterâ sources down here were full of blood. How was she going to bathe? She doubted Zariel was going to cook her supper and baked imp hardly sounded appetizing. What was she going to eat? She was in hell, and home was so so far away. And worse yet she was robbed of all the people she left behind. You canât even send a sending spell from Avernus. She needed someone, anyone. But there was no such thing as good company in hell.
Minthara stood outside the door to Durgeâs new room at the Elfsong Tavern. Up until that night, theyâd been sharing the room that now belonged only to Minthara.
It was late, but sheâd found herself completely unable to relax. She didnât sleep, but even her attempts to trance were only filled with regret of what had happened the previous day. Durge, lying dead on an alter of Bhaal before her. The rage that clawed its way up her throat. The way that rage shot out of her when Durgeâs body had come back to life.
Her words had been cruel; hypocritical, even. But even that did not explain the regret and remorse that plagued her now. She didnât know why, but it possessed her entire being. She was able to think of nothing else but that moment, played over and over in her mind.
She had never been one to hand out apologies. Even when she knew she was in the wrong she never sought to âmake it rightâ. Why should she care if someone was pissed with her? Everyone in her life had been disposable. Everyone except Durge.
That is why, she supposed, she had come in the dead of night to darken her former loverâs doorstep.
She lightly tapped the door with two knuckles before cracking it open to checking to see if Durge was still awake.
They were, as she suspected they would be. Sleep was a rarity for them even on the best of days. Minthara stepped into the room without awaiting further invitation.
âWhat do you want? Have you come to berate me further?â The words came like a spit of acid. âPerhaps you have come to cull the weakest soldier from your ranks. Well I think Iâve had quite enough of your commentary for one day. Leave me.â
Minthara stood, rigid and unmoving. She has expected nothing short of fury from Durge, and yet she was still taken off guard.
âI have come to offer an apology,â she swallowed. âMy behavior today was unacceptable, regardless of the circumstances and for that I apologize.â
Durge laughed. âWhen Scratch gets into the camp supplies and eats all the salami, it is âunacceptable behavior.â What you have done to today is nothing short of monstrous.â
Minthara shifted slightly. She didnât have a response prepared.
Durge broke the silence. âI thought you, of all people would understand. A deserter of both the spider queen and the absolute who found her power in godlessness. A lost child of House Baenre, the most powerful house in the underdark. And yet you see fit to lecture me about inheritance and power that I failed to collect at the cost of my own freedom. I thought maybe after all the nights you spent with me, sobbing against my urge to spill your blood you might understand why I must be rid of him. But I see now youâd rather have me a powerful slave than as I am.â
The room was silent again. Durge did not look at her, settling instead for continuing to arrange the room that would now belong to them alone.
âYou know, perhaps if it had just been an unjustified outburst, I could have forgiven you. I could have looked past the hypocrisy, the accusations that defying my father made weak and unworthy,â they spoke again. âPerhaps if you had only called me stupid and weak, we could be allies once more. But you couldnât stop there, could you? You couldnât just insult what you perceived to be a lack of power, you had to make me feel used. As if this entire relationship was purely a tactical ruse.â
Mintharaâs mouth worked faster than her mind. Before she could even think it through she blurted, âeven now you cannot deny what a powerful force we were together.â
The words made Tav snap their head around to look Minthara in the eyes. âDonât you dare try and dismiss my feelings with talk of strategy. I will not deny I was that I was drawn to you for the same reason you were drawn to me: because I thought you a powerful ally. But I do not share my bed with people just because they are âpowerful allies.â I do not learn about their favorite dishes and go out of my way to gather rare ingredients. I do not black out my own windows just so our home can be an oasis of darkness in this all too bright world. I do not rub their back and whisper sweet words to them as I hold them through nightmares. And I sure as hell donât risk my own life in 1 on 1 duels with my own sister just for the sliver of hope that they could walk through this world a little less scared!â Durgeâs eyes brimmed with tears and their bottom lip quivered. âYou were so much more than a âpowerful allyâ to me, Minthara. I did not love you because you were a matron of house Baenre. I did not love you because you were on the council of the dead three. I did not love you for the power I sought to gain from you. I loved you because you were my Minthara. My love for you may not have been a force that would save the world, but it did not make it less real or important. Power is not the only thing worth having. I would have gladly died by your side if it meant I could do so knowing that you loved me as I have loved you. If death was the only place we could be together, my dedication to you would not have faltered.â
Minthara stood in shock. She couldnât not bring herself to move for fear that she may collapse onto the floor in a pathetic pile of tears.
âYou will go to bed alone tonight, the bed we once shared, and you will sleep by yourself. And when you long for the comforts of home, you will not wake to find arrangements of mushrooms at your bedside. When forgotten moments of the past creep into your mind, and you reach for someone to hold you, you will find nothing but empty air. You will be alone and you will find it is not my âpowerâ that you truly miss.â
Youâre so good! I havenât officially made a post on this yet!
Request Rules
I enjoy all prompts you all are willing to give me! However, I make no promises on whether I will get around to writing them or not. Iâm full of whimsy and ADHD so I write pretty sporadically. Sometimes I feel inspired by prompts and sometimes I donât. Thatâs not to say I donât like the prompt, but sometimes I just donât know what to write or I feel itâs too similar to something Iâve already written.
That said there are certain things that I will not write because I simply donât know how:
Men (specifically the male companions)
Marriage or Proposals
Children or Pregnancy
Both SFW and NSFW requests are acceptable!
If you have specific characters youâre wanting PLEASE specify. Sometimes drafts and requests die because I get stuck on writing a certain character that the requester might not have even cared that much about, so itâs helpful to know which ones youâre looking for!
would love if you could do prompt 1! especially if tav is being a hard ass and trying to keep pushing themselves hehe :3
Companions with an Exhausted Tav
Three posts in one week?? Iâm truly on a roll. (Nah I was sick this week so I was off work for two days.)
Anyway hereâs Shadowheart, Laeâzel, Karlach, Minthara, and Jaheira with a very sleepy (and stubborn) reader.
Shadowheart
You usually go to bed quite a bit later than Shadowheart, but luckily sheâs never awake to realize just how late youâre staying up.
Until one night you push your luck a little too far. By the time you climb into bed next to her she pops her head up and notices the sun is already starting to rise.
âLove, have you been up all night?â She asks. You decline to answer, and luckily sheâs too sleepy to push the matter, for now. You both fall back asleep.
Youâre livid when you wake up to the noon sun and find the adventuring party had already left for the day. Without you.
You find Shadowheart polishing her spear, as she decided to stay back today as well.
You approach her, but she doesnât even look up at you. âGood afternoon sleepyhead.â
âWhat the hell were you thinking not waking me up this morning?â you say, clearly aggravated.
She props the spear up next to her. âI didâ she says, finally looking up at you. âIf youâre too tired to get up the first time I wake you, youâre too tired to go adventuring. Now go lay back down. You clearly need a nap.â
You soften, immediately realizing your mistake. âIâm sorry. I guess Iâm justâŠâ
âTired,â she finishes for you. âI know, love. Seriously, go back to bed. Youâre so grumpy when youâre tired.â
âIâm not grumpy!â You protest. She morphs her face into an over exaggerated pout, and repeats your words in a mocking tone.
You canât help yourself, so you laugh. âWhatever. Iâll go back to bed.â
Laeâzel
You wake up in a panic as youâre being roughly dragged across the ground by your ankles.
You flail and struggle against your captors strong hand, but you canât get loose.
âTskva! Stop doing that!â Laeâzel shouts. Itâs only then you realize who your âcaptorâ really is.
âLaeâzel?â You ask, confused. âWhat are you doing? Why are you dragging me across the- ow!â You shout as youâre dragged over a rock.
âSeems this is the only way to get you to bed,â she responds, unfazed by your outburst.
She only stops dragging you once youâre in your bed. You immediately sit up and try to escape.
She catches you and pushes you back down. âLaeâzeeel,â you groan exaggeratedly. âI was doing something important.â
âIf it is important than you should be able to keep your eyes open while doing it,â she retorts.
Well fuck. She has you there. You have been having trouble focusing for the last couple hours. Maybe it is best if you just go to sleep.
Youâre surprised when Laeâzel crawls into your bed beside you. She doesnât usually stay the night. âWhat are you doing?â You ask.
âSleeping. Just like you should be,â she answers. You sigh, thinking of all the crafty ways you could sneak past her once she goes to sleep.
She interrupts your thoughts with a âand if you think youâre sneaking out, youâve got another thing coming.â
Karlach
Youâre passed out over a desk when Karlach gets up for a little midnight snack.
âOh love,â she sighs. It must be four in the morning. How long have you been up?
You wake up slightly and mumble something indecipherable. You can hardly lift your head up off the desk.
âCome on, letâs get you to bed,â she whispers, throwing your arms over her shoulders and picking you up.
You unconsciously nuzzle her neck and let out a soft âmmmâ at the familiar scent of your lover.
She lays you down on her own bed, trying to keep you upright for long enough to get you out of your armor.
She tries to be quiet, not only to disturb you as little as possible, but also to not wake up the entire camp.
When youâre finally out of your armor, she realizes she canât find your camp clothes. Eventually, she settles on giving you one of her shirts thatâs way too big for you.
You smile and mumble something that may or may not have been a âthank you.â
She finally lays your head against the pillow and you snuggle into the soft sheets and warm shirt.
She crawls cautiously into bed next to you, trying not to wake you up.
She canât quite tell if youâre awake or not when you climb up on her chest and mumble âmmm warm.â
Minthara
The thing about Minthara is sheâs not going to argue with you about taking care of yourself.
You can eat when youâre hungry, sleep when youâre tired, and piss and when you need to piss because youâre an adult and you can take care yourself.
So when she catches you burning the midnight oil for the third night in a row sheâs angry. Like more angry than youâd expected.
âHold on, Minthara,â you say, knowing she about to make you go to bed. âI just need to finish th-â
âNo.â Youâre interrupted abruptly. âYouâre going to bed and Iâm not going to catch you out here like this again.â
âMinthara, thereâs things that have to done-â
âThey can wait till morning,â she interrupts again, trying to stay calm even as youâre testing her patience.
âJust let me-â
âYou have to take care of yourself, Tav!â She shouts, finally loosing her temper. âThis isnât an endurance test, this is your life: the one you have chosen to share with me. And I will not have you squander it out here, night after night, robbing yourself of sleep.â
You sigh, taking her hand and pulling yourself to your feet. You donât even realize how tired you are until youâre swaying trying to keep upright.
She picks you up unexpectedly. You would have never taken Minthara for the type to carry you to bed. Sheâs never carried you to bed before.
Still, you accept the rare affection and wrap your legs around her waist while your arms and head rest on her shoulder.
She gently lays you down on your bed and pushes your hair off your forehead before giving it a kiss.
She really does love you, and sheâs doing her best here. You just gotta take care of yourself, okay?
Jaheira
âAm I going to have to set a bedtime for you like I do the children?â She half teases, surprising you as she approaches your half asleep body.
You groan as if she just woke you from deep sleep. âIâm awake, sorry what time is it.â
Jaheira smirks and bends down so sheâs close to your face. âWell past your bedtime,â she teases before giving you a short kiss.
âBut I havenât finished-â
âYouâre done,â she interrupts matter of factly. Clearly this isnât up for debate.
You groan again and mumble âfine,â reaching your arms up for her to carry you to bed.
She laughs, grabbing you by the waist and throwing you over her shoulder. If youâre going to insist on her carrying you, youâre going to deal with her doing it like this.
Sheâs gentle when she lays you against the bed, crawling in next to you and wrapping her arms around you.
âWait, so if itâs so late why are you up?â You ask.
She chuckles. âDonât worry about it,â she answers before kissing you behind the ear and falling asleep.
hiii ... idk if you do requests exactly but if u wanted id love to hear about the companions w/ a werewolf reader ? maybe its a full moon and reader has kept it a secret until now . but instead of being in a mindless violent rampage they are just kinda ... dog brained
thank u in advance ... take ur time or dont bother if u dont wanna :)
BG3 Ladies x Werewolf!Reader
I finally got a day off yesterday and I used it to write for like 8 hours so enjoy your second day of content in a row.
A lot of people have asked for companions react to Bhaal smiting the dark urge and Iâm working on it, but unfortunately Iâm only on act 2 of my durge run. So that one will be a while.
In better news my Minthara folks can expect a very spicy piece at some point this week!
Shadowheart
As soon as Shadowheart sees you in your wolf form, she is terrified and runs away from you as fast as she can.
Itâs only when you cautiously approach camp that her mother actually points out youâre a lycanthrope. She picks up on it pretty easily given her husband shares the same affliction.
âThey donât seem to be aggressive, thoughâ she observes, slightly confused. She tentatively taps her legs, beckoning you to come.
When you happily pad over to her, she scratches you behind the ears and you give a satisfied smile.
She sits down on the ground and continues to pet your head.
Shadowheart is still curled up on the bed, unwilling to take part in any of this.
âOh come on Shads, you must admit, itâs kinda cute.â Her mom says as your tongue lulls from your mouth.
The closest she gets to comfortable with you that first night is a brief game of fetch. Sheâll throw the ball as long as she doesnât have to wrestle it from your maw.
The game is over though when the ball gets too slimy for her liking.
Itâll take a little while, but perhaps itâll grow on her eventually.
Laeâzel
Laeâzel doesnât really know much about wolves or dogs, but sheâs not particularly fond of the one thatâs following her around camp.
She tries to pawn you off to Karlach, but you want her so she has very little luck with that.
When it starts to get really late, she starts to worry. Where have you gone? Youâve never been out this late.
She eventually puts two and two together and realizes you are the dog that keeps pestering her.
Once she figures it out, she just tries to treat you like your normal self, which is immensely confusing to your little dog brain.
Laeâzel gets very frustrated very quickly. It takes Halsin to calm her down and teach her how to interact with you appropriately.
Every time you do something new she looks at Halsin to tell her how to react.
You flip onto your back. âCan I just keep petting them here?â Halsin nods.
In the morning, she requires quite a hefty apology and explanation as to why you wouldnât tell her about this.
Karlach
Karlach is almost too welcoming to stray wolf that wants to wander into camp. But itâs certainly not the oddest thing thatâs come into camp.
She treats you like a normal dog at first, but after persistent whining and leading her to your bed multiple times, she finally catches on.
âYou didnât tell me you were a werewolf! Thatâs so cool!â She exclaims, but then her faces starts to grow concerned. âWait, youâre not gonna flip out on anyone tonight, are you? Do I need to lock you in a cage or something?â
You whine and lay down on the floor.
âAww, youâre not gonna hurt nobody are you, sweet puppy?â She sits on the floor next to you and rubs your shoulders.
She spends the rest of the night playing with you like she would any other dog, chasing you around camp, wrestling, and petting you.
That night she snuggles up next to you, cuddling you in her arms as you lay on your side.
You wake up just as you do any other morning, in her arms, fully humanoid again.
Minthara
Minthara is unsure what to do with this dog that keeps following her around.
You do your best to actually follow her commands to keep from pissing her off, but youâre really trying to get her to understand itâs you.
You wind up going to your tent and picking up something of yours. One of your shoes should work.
When you approach Minthara with the shoe hanging from your mouth, she grows increasingly agitated with you. âPut that down! Thatâs not yours!â
You whine and set the shoe down, putting your paw in the shoe to indicate itâs yours.
âAre you⊠a werewolf?â She asked, confused. You bark in affirmation.
She spends the night allowing you to follow her around, and, as long as you follow instructions, sheâs actually quite fond of your dog form.
Most of the night she spends reading a book while occasionally throwing a ball for you to go fetch.
She doesnât see the point of the game, but you seem to enjoying yourself and itâs only mildly inconveniencing her.
At the end of the night, you move to climb up onto her bed, but she stops you with an âabsolutely notâ and motions for you to lay on the floor beside her.
Jaheira
As a Druid, Jaheira can speak with you even in dog form.
Once you explain the situation to her, she rolls her eyes but smiles. She shouldâve known you were a werewolf.
She doesnât worry too much about you going fully into beast mode, as you show no signs of aggression or agitation.
But you do stink. And she tells you as much. Sheâs gonna give you a bath.
Your dog mind causes you to protest. You donât want a bath. Thereâs no way sheâs getting you in a tub.
It takes a little deception and some meat from the camp supplies to get you in the bath in under 5 minutes.
She cleans you off despite your constant whining and by the end youâre actually surprised you feel better. Less itchy.
She dries you off with a towel and you give yourself a couple good shakes.
Once youâre all clean and dried, she wild shapes into a wolf so you two can spend the night curled up around each other.
Okay some angsty âkidnapped by Orinâ thoughts because she has the power to not only torture you physically but fuck you up so bad psychologically. This works really well with the Minthara romance since they already have history, but it works with all romanceable characters.
TW for torture and dark content
Orin can take the physical form of anyone sheâs ever seen, so, of course, when it comes to tricking you, she takes the form of your most beloved.
She canât perfectly mimic their personality though. Itâs a slight slip up, maybe just the lack of a pet name or a word theyâd never use. Whatever her mistake, you realize itâs not them.
You turn to run, or maybe draw your weapon to fight. But Orin doesnât change. She keeps the form of your lover until sheâs overpowered you. You struggle in her arms, in their arms. But you canât break free.
She doesnât break form. Not even when youâre in the depths of temple of Bhaal. She forces you to watch as your own lover tortures you, peeling away skin from bone. Maybe she takes on something more personal, biting you with the fangs of Astarion or burning you with the flames of Karlach. But itâs not them. You have to keep reminding yourself itâs not them.
You wake up each day in their arms, wanting to cry to them about this awful dream, only to realize itâs a nightmare become reality as your lover becomes into your captor once more. No matter how long youâre there you nearly fall for it every time.
Finally your lover rushes into the temple, covered in blood, so relieved to have finally found you, to see that youâre okay. You cry out in relief, clinging to your savior before they break out into hideous laughter. It was all another trick. No one is coming to save you.
In the end, when youâre finally saved by your actual real partner, you find yourself to scared to even touch them. You canât cling to them in desperate hope and relief. You can only shake and crawl away from them with the terror of your torturer.
Even once youâve arrived home, you remain constantly wary of them. Orin has broken you. Youâre unable to find comfort in any attempt they make to soothe you. At times itâs unbearable to even look at them.
You wake up in their arms only to be met with the horror of what you think to be another trick. You want to jump out of the bed and curl up in the nearest corner. Itâs really them this time. They promise, theyâre not going to hurt you. But you donât believe them. You canât.
You may never feel so safe with them as you did before. It will be a long time before you will feel peace in their embrace again.
Itâs another pretty short one this week, as Iâve had terrible Minthara brainrot and Iâve been able to write nothing but filthy smut đ
Anyway, this one is some family friendly head canons about the ladies with a bonus Dame Aylin and Isobel!
Shadowheart
Shadowheart doesnât say anything at first, but you do notice her skin get slightly redder, and you watch a tiny smirk grow across her face.
Sheâs not typically one for public displays of affection, but something about lap sitting is different.
Itâs like affection with plausible deniability. What else was I supposed to do? Sit on the floor?
After youâve done it once, Shadowheart considers the barrier broken and takes every opportunity to sit on your lap.
Sometimes you think she must have a sixth sense that tells her when you sit down, because she simply appears on your lap.
If you cross your legs or do anything else to prevent her sitting in your lap, she gives you a little cough to let you know you should remedy that as soon as possible.
Depending on whoâs around, sheâll sometimes lean back against you, pressing her whole body to yours.
She likes it when you wrap your arms around her and rest your head on her shoulder.
While she prefers to be the one sitting on your lap, sheâs still more than happy to let you sit on hers.
Laeâzel
The first time you try sitting on her lap, she pushes you off. Why are you sitting on top of her? Weirdo. You roll your eyes and sit on the ground.
But then she decides that itâs weirder youâre sitting on the ground so she gives you her seat.
But then she doesnât want to stand anymore. Tskâva. Whatever. Guess sheâs gonna have to sit on you.
Laeâzel only ever sits on your lap, never the other way around. She oddly never picks up on any of the possible implications of that.
If anyone calls Laeâzel a bottom sheâs gonna throw hands.
She doesnât lay up against you or anything. To her this move is strictly practical, or at least she acts like it is.
You let her have it. As far as youâre concerned, you have a lovely girlfriend on your lap so youâre not going to complain.
Karlach
The first time you nonchalantly sit down in Karlachâs lap, sheâs so chill and unfazed.
At least, thatâs the vibe sheâs trying to give off. She can be cool about this. So cool.
Itâs less than a minute before her body starts to betray her. Her legs bounce up and down excitedly under you. As soon as you turn to face her, her stoic expression cracks into one of pure delight.
After that, Karlach pulls so many tricks to ask you to sit in her lap without actually having to ask.
Oh no! Thereâs no more chairs! Wherever will you sit? Looks like itâll just have to be in her lap again. Ignore those broken chairs hidden in the corner, this isnât about them.
You catch on pretty fast. Only so many chairs can disappear before things start to get suspicious.
You sit yourself on Karlachâs lap, watching the goofy smile grow across her face. âYou know you can just ask, right?â
Her skin flushes and she buries her face in your neck. âI have no idea what youâre talking about.â
Unfortunately, sheâll never sit on your lap because sheâs too afraid to crush you. Even if youâre bigger than her. Youâre too precious to risk it.
Minthara
Minthara is always taking up as much space as she desires in any given situation, so itâs not uncommon that she takes up the space of more than one person.
Luckily sheâs always got a place for you to sit, whether that be in between her legs or on them.
Sheâs never bashful about pulling you into her lap, even when there people are around.
If anything, an audience actually encourages her. You are hers, and that is most clear to everyone when youâre perched on her thigh.
Other times she will be slightly more subtle, tapping her inner thigh in a silent invitation, queuing you to join her.
There are very few scenarios in which Minthara will sit on your lap though. At least, in public.
If you try to get her to sit, sheâll shoot you an âI know that you know this isnât how this worksâ look, leaving you to let her take your seat and take your position on her lap.
Jaheira
It really depends on the day with Jaheira.
Most days she going to tell you to get an extra chair. There is no need for you to be sitting in her lap right now.
Sometimes, even if there is no extra chair she would have you sit at her feet in front of her before she let you into her lap.
But on those particularly long and hard days, when you come back looking exhausted and beat, she will allow for some extra tenderness.
Sheâll gently guide your head to rest on her shoulder or against her chest and stroke your hair.
If youâre in a more comfortable space she will even slide her hand up under your shirt to rub your back.
More often than not, you fall asleep almost instantly, even if everyone around you is still making a ruckus.
Sheâs still not going to carry you to bed though. You can walk yourself there.
Dame Aylin x Isobel
Isobel is a princess and Dame Aylin is her throne. Itâs more common than not the Isobel is on Aylinâs lap.
For Aylin, itâs like displaying a beautiful trophy. She needs everyone to look at her beautiful girlfriend right now.
The notion makes Isobel blush, but sheâs just as proud to have Aylin as Aylin is to have her, so sheâll allow it.
Aylin doesnât sit on Isobelâs lap, nor would she ever allow her to give up her seat, but Aylin will sit at her feet and gaze up at her with awe and wonder while Isobel smiles down at her and runs her hands through the aasimarâs hair.
And Selune forbid thereâs no place for Isobel to sit. Aylin would sooner get down on one knee and let Isobel sit on her leg than leave a tired Isobel to stand.
Aylinâs shoulders are also an acceptable option. She can hoist Isobel up there with ease. Sheâll never have to walk for any longer than she wishes.
Granted, it makes them like 10 feet tall, so thereâs only a few places itâs applicable before Isobel has to be on alert for low hanging obstacles.
After Illiamer had been resurrected by Withers, the former high priestess started to heal Mintharas mind. Every day for weeks she used up all of her magic to retrieve her memories. It was a tiring process that took a lot of energy, especially from Minthara. Because reclaiming decades of memories also meant remembering all the things that Orin had done to her.
Iâm just having angsty Minthara X Durge thoughts if we ever got her âIâm going to kill the person I care about the mostâ scene. (TW: Dark Content under cut)
When you first tell her of your urges she says, if they ever overtake you, she will be there to kill you.
So just imagine that night, Durge, bound, lying on their side, in between mindless fits of rage, begging her to make good on her word. The hurt and fear in their eyes as they beg. âPlease, you promised.â
And Minthara, standing above them, holding a dagger, horrified by the creature before her. The one who saved her, the one who showed her kindness, nearly unrecognizable in their fury. Yet, she canât quite bring herself to bring down her blade.
âDo it,â It was a breathless command that would haunt the Drow for the rest of her days, and the inaudible repeat had her eyes subconsciously fluttering shut before snapping them open.
Minthara swallowed thickly before she set her jaw. Her eyes briefly stared at a spot overhead in a futile attempt to disperse of the tears welling in her bottom eyelids. The⊠monster that squirmed at her feet was alternating between pitiful pleas and predatory snarls, all while staring the Nightwarden right in the eye. Minthara could remember a time when those same lips had been pulled into a shy smile as Durge had bashfully looked to their feet. It seemed as if it were a lifetime ago.
âYou said-â Durge had spat hatefully, but appeared to collect themselves with a look of horror, âY-You promised!â
âDarling,â Minthara started slowly, approaching Durge cautiously as if speaking to a wild animal rather than her lover, but the antihero was having none of it.
âNo!â The growl seemed to shock even Durge, but it wasnât long before they were struggling against their binds once more. âKill me! Kill me now or Iâll fucking kill you!â
Minthara blinked, prompting the tears to slip down her cheeks. The promise she had made to both Durge and herself always weighed in the back of her mind. She was all too aware that one should never judge a book by its cover, but Durge had the capability of being so unassuming. They had been so capable of the sweetest love that Minthara had ever experienced. When they had explained the dark urges lingering just beneath their fingertips, Minthara initially felt a bit incredulous, but as the fear and insecurity shrouding Durge nearly drove them into a full-blown panic attack, the drow was quick with the assurance to step in however needed.
A part of her never believed she would have to keep her end of the bargain, that they were pulling an elaborate joke⊠then she thought there could be a cure, maybe even a lobotomy from that joke of a man Volo if things got real desperate⊠and as she watched Durge flex against the restraints with a murderous gleam in their eye and nearly foaming at the mouth, well⊠she wasnât too sure what else to think other than the promise she had made.
âYou lying bitch!â Durge seethed before visibly shaking themselves back to reality. âI love you! I fucking love you, and if you loved me too, youâd do us all a favor and kill yourself,â
Minthara did nothing to hide the tears. Their words stung. Not because of the resentful claim, but because at one point she believed them to be incapable of harboring such spite towards her. It wasnât them⊠but it was. It morphed their face in expressions unseen before. It lowered their voice in harsh tones unheard of before. Durgeâs words stung because now Minthara believed her lover truly to be gone.
âI loved you, I want you to know that.â Minthara croaked as she finally found her voice.
She stood before Durge, close enough that if the binds had finally given way, they wouldnât have to reach out far to touch her foot. The monster might spit words of acid, but it still wore her loverâs face. The tears were streaming now as Mintharaâs chest heaved with the force of her heart splintering. The dagger was burning in its sheath, a heavy reminder of its presence and just what she needed to do with it. So why wasnât she reaching for it? As she dropped to her knees at Durgeâs side and watched as their fingers grabbed fruitlessly at the empty air, she felt shame. Shame at her hesitation, shame at allowing a feeling such as love to flourish in her heart, shame at being unable to help themâŠ
âIâll cut your heart from your chest and only then will it really belong to me.â Durge threatened gleefully, and their lips twisted back into a feral grin when one of the restraints began to loosen enough to move an extra inch forward.
âIt only ever belonged to me,â said Minthara monotonously, her eyes glazed as she withdrew the dagger and positioned it over your chest, one hand around the handle and the other flat against the pommel, âUntil I shared it with you,â
Durge sneered at Minthara, showing no fear in the face of death. A glint from the dagger twinkled in their eye, and Minthara could find no traces of the one she loved. This was a hollowed out shell feeding off of the carnage and chaos that they had fought so hard against when they had first been infected. Minthara sighed as the grim reminder slapped her right in the face. The lover she had come to know had been the false copy all along, and despite a lifetime of experience and wisdom, she had still come out the fool.
âWait!â Durge exclaimed, their face twisting into one of pure terror, and Minthara would be lying if she said she didnât feel a quiver. âPlease! D-Donât you love me? Donât you want me?!â
âI-â
âIâll be good! I swear!â Durge screamed at the top of their lungs. âI swear! I swear! I swear Iâll fucking rip you all apart and feed on your-â
The shouts were cut into rough gurgling as Minthara drove the blade into Durgeâs chest. Their eyes widened as they stared up at the ceiling in near disbelief. Their lips were parting as if mumbling to themselves, but the only thing pouring from their mouth was thick, red, almost black blood as it oozed a filthy path from the corner of their mouth to their ear. Durge was swallowing repeatedly past the blood, attempting to get air into their lungs, but all they accomplished was a gag.
âIâm sorry,â Minthara urged, finally moving close enough to pull their head into her lap, and ran her fingers through their hair to push it back from their forehead.
âDo-â Durge gurgled, their voice thick with blood, âSa-â
âShh,â Minthara shushed them gently, both needing them to conserve their energy and to also not ruin the last moment.
âLove,â
Minthara hoped and prayed that it wasnât a figment of her imagination. She couldnât afford to have her mind playing games with her, not when her heart was broken beyond repair. She needed her lover fully coherent in their final goodbye, and as Durge finally fell still after their last stuttered gasp of love had left them, she reached forward to close their eyes for the last time. Minthara bowed forward to placing adoring kisses atop each of their closed eyelids before claiming their bloody lips in a kiss that would claim Durge even in death.
Bhaal would have to fight like hell if he really wanted them back.
Been having a tough time lately, would it be possible to have the female companions (plus Aylin+Isobel) comforting Tav/Reader during a panic attack?
Thank youuuuuu sending you all the love and good vibes
BG3 Ladies Soothe a Panic Attack
I was honestly unsure Iâd ever able to do this prompt justice, especially given how differently every personâs needs are in such a situation. But I felt inspired to give it a shot anyway! I hope itâs alright!
I also send good vibes and well wishes to all my fellow panic attack having soldiers.
In the spirit of trying to keep it vague, this one is pretty short. But without further ado, hereâs Shadowheart, Laeâzel, Karlach, Minthara, Jaheira, and Isobel and Aylin!
Shadowheart
Shadowheart knows all the clerical tips and tricks that are gonna get you through this you through this.
As soon as youâre in full blown panic sheâs got an ice spell at her fingertips, placing her cold hands on your face especially around the eyes.
She kneels down next to you. âAlright love, I need you to breathe with me,â she commands, modeling the most effective breathing techniques.
Sheâs very soft, nearly whispering so you have to really focus on her in order to understand what she is saying.
Sheâs very liberal with her praise, telling you how good youâre doing with every breath youâre able to match.
When the panic subsides, she instructs you to rest. Sheâll lay with you if youâd like, but you need to rest for at least a few minutes before proceeding with life as usual.
She brings you food and water, taking the opportunity to make sure youâre taking care of yourself in general. You have to eat and drink at least a little bit before sheâll let you go.
She also wants to have a little chat about the root of the issue. What are some of your triggers? What are some things that help you specifically?
Next time, sheâs gonna be prepared.
Laeâzel
Laeâzel is not the gentle type when it comes to these sorts of things, though itâs not something sheâs entirely unfamiliar with.
When she sees the panic set in, sheâs the first to pull you up to your feet and have you do jumping jacks or something.
While any observers might think sheâs being heartless or unemphatic, the adrenaline actually works pretty well to pull you out of the panic fast.
She doesnât make you feel embarrassed about it at all. She simply squeezes your arms and nods in understanding. It happens to the best of us.
Laeâzel is, shockingly, largely unfazed. You get the sense that she dealt with this before. Perhaps she even dealt with panic attacks herself in her youth.
She thinks itâs best to resume normal activities immediately, though sheâll secretly be keeping a special eye on you the rest of the day.
Karlach
In seeing your unbridled panic, Karlach starts to get a little panicked herself.
She just doesnât really have any experience with this sort of thing and is completely unsure of what to do.
Her first instinct is to hold you, but if you put up any sort of resistance at all she backs off immediately.
Whether you are in her arms or simply next to her, she whispering words of affirmation. But sheâs unable to come up with much more than âitâs okay, soldier. Itâs gonna be okay. Youâve got this.â
When youâre no longer gripped by panic, sheâs still not entirely sure what to do. Sheâll take your lead completely. Though sheâs not entirely convinced that a simple âback to businessâ is the best course of action.
Sheâll probably want to cuddle or at least hold your hand for a while just to make sure youâre truly alright. If sheâs being honest, the ordeal gave her quite a scare. But she absolutely will not make this about her right now.
Sheâs going to be checking in on you pretty consistently over the next couple days. She may even get some pointers from Shadowheart on what to do if it ever happens again.
Minthara
Mintharaâs first priority is privacy and protection. Anyone who isnât her isnât allowed to come anywhere close to you. Not when youâre this vulnerable.
After everyone is gone and out of earshot, she asks âWould you like to be held?â She speaks with the same tone and cadence sheâs always using. Nothing about her softens.
If you say yes, sheâll silently pull you into her arms, allowing you to sob and heave into her chest until you recover.
Pretty much anything you need is fair game. She will not stop you from clutching at her clothes or skin, even if you accidentally hurt her.
If you say no, sheâll simply sit next to you in silence, occupying herself with a silent menial task. She will allow you some space, but she will not leave you entirely alone.
Either way, anyone who values their life will stay away from you; sheâll make sure of it.
You expect her to lecture you about such a blatant display of weakness, but she doesnât. And anyone who would dare even mention it will receive a glare that makes them think better of it.
Jaheira
Jaheiraâs first tactic is similar to that of Laeâzel. She tries to get you moving until the endorphins help you overcome your panic.
Itâs honestly frustrating how effective it is. The height of your panic subsides quicker than it ever has before.
She is, however, quite a bit gentler afterwards. She has questions. Is this a frequent occurrence? What triggers your panic? How can we avoid it in future?
When you express to her your concern about your anxiety making you a weak link, she is quick to shut down any doubt that you are less valuable for this.
Sheâs raised enough children to know it takes all sorts of strengths and weaknesses to round out a team. Even those on the softer side have their purpose.
She eventually convinces to start taking more days off, especially when the task at hand has a high likelihood to push you beyond your limits.
Isobel and Dame Aylin
Dame Aylin pulls you into her arms. Even if you struggle against it at first, she just holds you tightly against her chest and gently shushes your sobs.
Meanwhile, Isobel handles the situation very similarly to Shadowheart, bringing her clerical knowledge in to support you.
She strokes your face with cooled hands, not minding the way tears pour relentlessly down her hands. All while a strong Aylin gently kisses the crown of your head.
Aylin shields you from the world with her wings, only allowing Isobel close. Anyone else will receive a gentle yet firm âBegone.â
When itâs over, Isobel tells you to rest. Sheâll probably insist prefer you came back to/stayed at camp with her for the rest of the day.
As loathe as you are to miss out on a day on adventuring, Isobelâs company makes for the best afternoon anyone could ask for.
This one started as a Shadowheart oneshot, but I decided to expand it to include Laeâzel, Karlach, and Minthara as well.
Let me know your favorites! Iâm looking to expand more of my stuff into one shots, so itâs good information to have!
Content Warning for torture (obviously)
Shadowheart
When the days adventuring party returns without you, her blood immediately runs cold. They didnât just come back without and leave you out there right?
When they inform her that youâve been taken by the cloister, her face goes pale.
It takes Karlach and Wyll on either side of her to get her eased down onto a bedroll and breathing regularly. You were gone.
And to make matters worse, Viconia DeVir had you in her grip. Even with her amnesia, she could recall just how cruel the woman was.
The party had made great strides in passively finding clues about the location of the House of Grief, but they were still yet to find it.
Finding it had now jumped from a passive priority to the single most important thing they could be doing.
Shadowheart spent most of that night weeping in frustration at her inability to remember. She had grown up there for gods sake. The past 40 years at least had been spent in that damned house.
In the end, it was actually Astarion who finally discovered the sanctuaryâs location. It was decided that he and Shadowheart would be the two best suited to sneak in and retrieve you.
When they found you, you were lying on the houseâs marble floor, chained up to rigs that came out of the ground. The chain around your neck only barely allowed you to sit up to look at your rescuers.
âShadowheart? Shadowheart is that you?â You whispered into the dark room. You could only see two silhouettes, but the quaffed elven hair of Asterion and the pointy crown of Shadowheart gave it away.
You instinctively tried to rush towards her, only to be stopped by the strain of your restraints. It didnât much matter though, because Shadowheart was at your side in a matter of seconds.
She stroke your cheek, paying special attention to cut that stretched across your face. She was quick to move around to other parts of your body, stopping to carefully examine each of your wounds. Your restraints left you unable to reach out to her in anyway.
âShadowheart, please, you have to get out of here, now,â you nearly cry. âTheyâre looking for you.â Astarion joins the two of you on the ground, getting to work at picking the several locks that held you in place.
It takes her a moment to register what you were saying. Her first thought is an obvious refusal, sheâs not going anywhere without you.
But then the implications of your words dawn on her. They took you because they couldnât find her. All of this torture youâve endured, youâve done it to protect her.
âPlease Shadowheart,â you beg. âI swear I didnât tell them anything. Youâll be safe at camp, just please go.â
Her head spins with newly uncovered memories of the torture she inflicted before the Nautaloid. She remembers how the Sharrans go about getting information from people.
âAstarion, how are coming along on those locks?â she ignores your pleas in favor of getting you free. Your upper body is now free, but he seems to be having trouble with your ankles.
âPatience, darling,â he quips, nearly earning him a slap across the face from Shadowheart.
Within the minute the shackles drop from your ankles, leaving you free to stand up on shaking legs. Shadowheart gives you a quick healing spell before asking âdo you think you can make it back?â
You nod, following her and Astarion back the way they came in.
You had never been more excited to see camp than you were in that moment. You laid down face first on the plush Elfsong mattress. You hadnât slept at all the previous night, and being tortured really took it out of you.
Shadowheart sat on the bed next to you. The fact that you laid down on your stomach did not bode well for the condition of your back.
She tugged gently at the hem of your shirt. âArms up, love,â she cooed. You whined and crossed your arms over your chest. You didnât want to show her what they had done.
âIf you truly will not show me, I will get Jaheira to look after you,â she reasoned. âBut, please, let me take care of you.â The second part was more a plea than anything.
Reluctantly, you lifted your arms and allowed her to pull the shirt over your head.
She did her best to remain stoic. She had seen endless wounds like this. She had inflicted endless wounds like this. But against her will, a sob choked its way up her throat.
The same back she had spent so many nights tracing and trailing with kisses was now so raw and bloodied, she wondered for a moment if you had any skin left.
She used every last bit of energy healing the wounds. By the time she was done she had exhausted herself too much to even make it back to her own bed.
She spent the night curled up around your legs, resting her head on your lower back. Viconia was going pay for what sheâd done, sheâd make sure of it.
Laeâzel
Laeâzel isnât the usually the tactical planning type, but when youâre captured by Vlaakithâs army, she realizes this isnât a kick-down-the-front-door type of mission.
This does not, however, make her any more patient during the planning process. The githyanki could have you floating halfway through astral plane by now.
Luckily, the gith as a whole arenât known for their subtleties, so youâre not hard to track down.
Protection is thankfully slim enough that the party can pretty much strong arm their way to you.
When Laeâzel finds you are bound by some magical device that was, as loathe as she was to admit it, beyond her level of expertise.
You were at least conscious, which was truly remarkable given your condition. All your clothes were torn and bloodied, but the most concerning and blatant wound came for the side of your head.
Almost the entire left side of your face was completely covered in dried blood, all leading back to the gash on the side of your head that was once your left ear.
Laeâzel cursed, pointlessly kicking the arcane barrier.
You could see her shouting at Gale. Presumably she was impatiently rambling about freeing you, but you couldnât make out what she was saying through the barrier.
All you saw was a long dagger that she pulled from her belt before storming off in the direction of your now dead captors.
Laeâzel was still gone when the party finally figured out how lower the barrier around you.
You stumbled out onto your knees and immediately found yourself surrounded by the partyâs healers.
Laeâzel came stomping back moments later, carrying a small wooden bucket she didnât have before. Likely she just found it somewhere around the gith camp.
She dropped the bucket at your feet without a word, leaving you to examine the contents for yourself.
You looked down into the bucket to find a dozen or so fleshy green ears.
You look back up at her, not sure whether to be honored or disgusted.
The smug look on her face let you know that this was certainly a gift she was proud of, so honored it is.
âThank you. Itâs nice to have plenty of choices when it comes to choosing my replacement.â
Karlach
Karlach really does try to be tactical most of the time, but youâve been taken by none other than Lord Gortash himself.
And the idea that you are gone and she is here, at camp, while the others make a plan of how to rescue you? She can hardly contain herself.
She paces around camp, leaving a thick line of charred wood beneath her as she walks the same path over and over again.
Chewing her nails isnât usually a nervous habit of hers but at this point sheâs liable to chew her fingers off.
She logically knows it would do no good to come out guns blazing when youâre probably locked up behind the entirety of the steel watch, but worry and adrenaline nearly get ahead of her.
It is Shadowheart and Halsin who finally pull her from her thoughts. They have a plan, and much to Karlachâs relief it involves her. She was terrified they might agree upon a stealthier approach and ask her to stay behind.
She would have done it, if it were truly what was best for you. She might have burned up the entirety of the Elfsong Tavern by the time you finally got back though.
Luckily, since Karlach was mistaken by the steel watch as a defective watcher, she was actually best equipped to break in.
The plan, in whole, ran pretty smoothly. At least until the moment Karlach actually set eyes on you, bruised up and unconscious in the middle of a cell.
All bets were off after that. There was one thing that mattered and it was having you, safe with her again.
The minute it took Astarion to pick the lock was the longest of her entire life. She was nearly burning hot enough to melt through the bars herself.
The moment the door popped open, she was beside you, on her knees pulling you into her chest.
Shadowheart whisper-shouted behind her, reminding her to watch your neck and be gentle with your head. She carefully situated her large hand to cradle your head.
She rocked back and forth, trying to soothe her own panicked heart. âHey bub, itâs me. I came to rescue you. I⊠please wake up. Iâm here now. Youâre safe.â
When you didnât ever stir, Karlach looked up at Halsin and Shadowheart, eyes brimming with tears and worry. âThey arenât waking up. Why arenât they waking up?â
Halsin joined Karlach on the ground, leaning to put his head on your chest. âTheir heart continues to beat and their lungs draw breath, but they are weak. We must get them to camp.â
There was an incredibly brief argument about who was best fit to carry you, given that your skin was already starting to redden from Karlachâs heat, but her bottom lip quivered at even the mention of you leaving her arms.
When they managed to get you back to the Elfsong, Karlach was reluctantly convinced to lay you down on your bed.
She winced when she saw the small burns starting to form on the side of your body she had held to her own. Your left cheek was already starting to blister. Maybe she shouldâve let Halsin carry you after all.
The healers came by to try and figure what had happened to you. You had no visible injuries, aside from the minor burns, yet you were still unable to be stirred.
It was actually Minthara who suggested they may have inflicted mental torture rather than physical, similar to what was inflicted on her at Moonrise.
The idea made Karlach burst into uncontrolled sobs. âYou think they may have been erased?!â
Minthara looked sympathetically down at Karlach, but didnât have an answer for her.
The party collectively decided that the only thing they could do is wait and let you rest.
Afraid to burn you with the fire that courses through her veins, Karlach restrained herself from crawling into bed with you. Instead she knelt next to the bed, resting her head on the mattress and reaching up to stroke your body.
She couldnât sleep at all that night, only stroke your burned cheek and cry softly into your mattress.
She started to talk to you, talking about all the things sheâs like to do with you when all of this was over.
âMaybe weâll get a little place in Lower City, next to the water so we can watch the sunsets with all the boats ân stuff floating out in the distance. Oh! And we can go on little picnics in Bloomridge Park, and feed our leftovers to all the stray cats and dogs. Oh who am I kidding weâre taking all of them home with us. Weâre gonna have a whole farmhouse if you canât stop me.â
When you finally do wake up, Karlach wraps her arms around in a hug so tight you nearly suffocate. She eventually settles to sit in your lap while you gently stroke her hair.
Gortash better start counting because his days are dangerously numbered.
Minthara
The moment Minthara finds out youâve been taken by Orin, her heart nearly stops beating.
One moment it was you, the love of her life, standing before her. Then, through the breaking of necks and cracking of bones, she finds herself face to face with one of her few fears. Orin the Red.
How could she fall for this again? Her head spins with the thought of all the things Orin may be doing to you. She knows you could hold your own, but Orin had a way of breaking the unbreakable.
Sometimes, with how loyally she followed you, it was easy to forget that Minthara was used to being the one in charge. A lot had changed since you met her as the Nightwarden.
But it all comes back quickly as she barks out orders to the now leaderless party. They were marching on the Temple of Bhaal, now. Minthara was prepared to take on the god of murder himself if it meant saving you.
As tempting as it was to charge straight into the temple, it left you all with little hope of survival. She decided the partyâs presence near the temple would be enough to lure Orin out, leaving her an open opportunity to slip in.
Orinâs tactless blood thirst made the plan go over all too well. She couldnât resist the smell of fresh unspilled blood at her doorstep.
By the time Minthara got to you, you were weak but still painfully conscious. You were hanging over an alter like a sacrifice by meat hooks that cleaved into your skin.
You had been tortured in true Bhaalist fashion. While your body displayed clear evidence of the slicing and cleaving, your mind was even more clouded by the things you had been forced to do and endure. It made you even more sympathetic to Mintharaâs past.
Minthara climbed onto the unholy alter and began to remove you from the cruel hooks. She ignored your weak protestations, refusing to even look you in the eyes.
She resisted any urge to comfort you, pushing all the softness from her mind until the mission was complete and you were safe. She did not speak, fearing she may distract herself for the task at hand.
She only allowed for a brief moment when she picked you up and felt your throw your arms around her neck. You curled into her stomach with a choked sob and cried âIâm so sorry.â
âI know you better than to think you are foolish. Orin is cunning, persistent, and full of deceit. I do not fault you for what has happened.â
Escaping the temple was easier than getting in. She wordlessly worked her way back to the Elfsong with the ease of someone who wasnât carrying a bloodied body.
She did what she could to heal you herself, given that none of the others had returned yet. A mildly concerning tidbit that seemed not to faze Minthara in the slightest.
It wasnât until she was positive you would be okay that she allowed herself to soften, running her hands through your blood crusted hair and gently cleaning you with a dampened rag.
She paid little mind to the rest of the party, who returned looking a little worse for wear. She was disappointed but not surprised to hear that they had failed to kill Orin.
She recruited Jaheira to assist in your healing. She trusted her more than Shadowheart. She never let go of your hand, even when you squeezed so hard you thought you may have broken her fingers as Jaheira patched wounds with a variety of burning liquids.
She laid next to you on the bed, resting her head gently against your stomach and allowing you to stroke her head. She wasnât bothered by the filth and blood that covers nearly every inch of you.
âWe will make her pay for what sheâs done to you. What sheâs done to us. We will match every scar sheâs inflicted tenfold until not even Bhaal with recognizes his own blood,â she swears, placing a gentle kiss on your stomach.
Heem.... to do... do platonic hc...? If u do (and I'm sorry if your requests are closed), could you write about Jaheira and minthara being Subtlety motherly/material to a Tav who opened up about their crappy relationship with their mother? Like, kind of, being sure they ate something, being sure they go to bed on time (busting into their tent and taking whatever their working on, reading/fixing a weapon or whatnot, like a parent catching their child on their phone at midnight), or like helping them do their hair in the morning and praising them a little more than normal? Please than thank you~
Motherly Jaheira
First of all I love this prompt so thank you anon. Second of all, as much as I love Minthara, I canât see that woman having a maternal bone in her body. So, I hope itâs alright that I just did Jaheira!
Jaheira could smell the mommy issues coming off of you before you ever even mentioned your mother.
Even she didnât really know what about you gave it away. Maybe it was in the way you over eagerly tried to please her. Or how your hair was done with all the elegance of someone who never really learned how to braid.
It didnât matter though, because it only took a matter of days fighting by her side for you to open up to her about your maternal woes one night over wine at Last Light Inn.
You felt so compelled to share your story that you had half a mind to check the wine for Klauthgrass. Aside from a terribly high alcohol content, it was clean.
The night ended with your head in her lap, crying so hard you could hardly get your words out. All while Jaheira listened intently and stroked your hair. Not your best moment, you admit.
After that night though, she is sure to put a little extra attention into you, shooting you an extra look of approval when you did something particularly impressive or taking on the task of teaching you proper hair care.
She does her best not to treat you like a child, yet she sees this little child in you thatâs begging to be loved and cared for.
She started calling you cub pretty much as soon as she met you, but now it seemed to slip off her tongue more often than even she intended it to. She also started to subconsciously add complimentary adjectives in front of the nickname. You were âlittle cubâ or âclever cub.â
One night, she noticed you had a particular affinity for tucking an extra bedroll to your chest just so youâd have something to hold on to. The next night you find a small stuffed blue owlbear sitting next to your bedroll.
On nights you canât sleep, sheâll tell you old Harper tales of days past. Karlach is always all too happy to move her bedroll closer so she can listen in too.
You notice there are patches in your clothes where there used to be holes. Your armor is nicely laid out rather than haphazardly strewn across the dirt.
She knows you are just as capable of taking a hit as anyone else in the party, but she pays careful attention to heal and dress your wounds. Sheâs much gentler with you than she is with anyone else.
And she insists on checking in on wounds every day. Even when they are minor it is good practice to clean and rebandage regularly.
When itâs just the two of you, sheâs sure to be extra affectionate. She knows it embarrasses you a little when youâre around the others, but sometimes you just need to rest your head on her shoulder while she pulls you into a tight hug.
She loves to do your hair for you. She always says her girls were never ones for sitting still, and Jord never let her do anything more brush it and slick it back behind his ears.
She really struggles to be complimentary, but she tries to highlight your finer moments when she can.
And if ever there comes another night with slightly too much wine and a slightly too heavy burden, she will be there with listening ears once again.
I really thought I was going to make it out of Baldurâs Gate 3 without falling in love with an unromanable and largely irrelevant side character, but Nine Fingers Keene did me in.
