Back in Black Amory I had a post lamenting the amount of non-tryhard day 1 content. For Season of Opulence, Bungie did a great job of making accessible day 1 content for everyone. Thanks guys!

This is beautiful, and I love it, but not as much as NASA sending a spaceship named after Jupiter’s wife to go take pics of it and its moons (which tend to be named after said god’s numerous lovers).

I finally got it

I finally got the Ace of Spades. As someone who tends to not play crucible, and especially as someone who NEVER used a hand cannon in Crucible, that was a torturous grind. Finally I got past it. Found Cayde’s last few chests hidden deep within enemy territory on Io, the EDZ, Nessus, and the Tangled Shore.

Lastly, I hit the Ace in the Hole mission. Difficulty-wise it was a breeze for my current power level, though some of the chests weren’t the easiest to find. But as I was going through it, I figured out why Bungie had us go through such a long quest to get the Ace. At least in my opinion, the Ace quest was about having us fight to save just a little piece of someone we loved and lost. Our reward wasn’t just the gun itself, it was hearing our friend’s voice one last time. Now I can give my little Cayde figurine a fist bump and sleep in peace knowing that I earned this, just as our favorite blue bot has earned his last ride into the sunset.

P. S. It’s my headcanon that the player Guardian is Ace, Cayde’s child. So this means a lot to me from my own meta perspective. So dad, go find the Queen of Hearts, and tell mom I miss her. There shall be no long slow whisper to wake you anymore. Sleep well.

Just beat Pokémon Diamond for the first time tonight! Luxray put in some serious work, taking out most of the Elite Four psychic team and two of Cynthia’s team (Spiritomb and Milotic). Abomasnow came in clutch with a one-shot blizzard on Garchomp and KO’s on Gastrodon and the final KO on Roserade.

So, destiny fans. It Happened.

Before I begin, huge spoilers for the latest (12/18/18) Black Armory update.

And Mara is completely responsible.

How you ask? Well at the end of the third curse cycle, we got to visit Mara’s throne world again. She is first seen speaking with the Emissary of the Nine, who vanishes as the Queen grants us a brief audience. After speaking a few lines to us, Mara asks us to leave because her “next audience does not find the presence of the Traveler’s Chosen to be respectful.”

Many have speculated who this could be, from an Eliksni to an aide of Savathûn to even a ghost that’s still seeking its guardian. After all, if YOU really wanted a puppy and you see someone walking their cute lil friend around, you’d probably feel pretty jealous too.

This is where we get to a bit of lore that dropped with Forsaken. It talks about a sweet, earnest ghost called “Pulled Pork” (a nickname that stuck) that is on the Reef, looking for a potential guardian to revive. The poor ghost has even been looking from the times before the Battle of Twilight Gap!

And so, a ghost that matches Pulled Pork’s shell description just so happens to show up to where Uldren is LAID IN STATE (definitely a Mara instruction, Petra would have tossed his treacherous corpse out on the next trash day) and revive him? Not a coincidence. Mara’s got her brother back, and in the form of a light-weilding immortal that she can choose to shape into any form she pleases.

Clever girl.

Dear Bungie, part 2

What the heck guys?

Look, I get it, you want Black Armory to be endgame content. Okay, that’s fine. But as someone who isn’t able to put the time into grinding difficult activities and doesn’t have a consistent group of teammates or the money for a gaming headset for communication, setting the SECOND QUEST of Black Armory at 610, AND having the activity increase in difficulty by waves as it goes on is just infuriating.

This is something I preordered on faith in your ability to create something good that everyone could enjoy. And I admit, grad school has been rough and I’ve been forced to take a hiatus from the game in order to focus on studies, which means I am not, nor will I ever be, a frontline/top tier player. Furthermore, Forsaken was a truly masterful expansion. But this...this is almost as maddening as when Rome 2 Total War came out and game bugged repeatedly in the tutorial battles. Right now, I’ve just wasted at least 30-35 bucks waiting on expansions that I PURCHASED and COMPLETELY EXCLUDE ME!

Maybe you don’t care now that you’ve got my money. Or maybe it was always your intention to have Black Armory be “super endgame” content. But at least you should have been up front with it during your press releases. Which I watched. Eagerly.

I hope I’m being as fair with this as I can. And as always, probably no one will read this anyways.

Question for Destiny Lore Peeps

Are all the guardians humans/awoken/exos that died during or after the Collapse, or could ghosts in theory resurrect some of Earth’s ancient heroes like Gilgamesh or Achilles?

Note: I am aware that some guardians were not dead when their ghosts chose them, e.g. Shin Malphur.
