You were his little imprint, a somewhat normal person compared to the rest of the Fork’s population. You were pretty nice to him, to his pack mates, and even to the Cullens. You weren’t really all that involved otherwise with the constant drama though.
You sat here, across the wooden table, listening to Jacob rant about his day in the opposite chair in front of you. He talked about Bella’s latest problems- which was weird because you were his imprint, not her. It’s not that you didn’t like her or anything, in fact, you thought she was fine. But listening to Jacob talk about Bella, the Cullens, and whatever rogue Vampire was lurking about, most definitely threatening to upset the delicate balance in this town yet again, it got old.
So, you sat here. Sipping out of your favorite mug at the kitchen table as Jacob continued to talk. You just sat silently. You used to be so talkative and try to engage in the ‘conversation’. But Jacob seemed to never stop to talk a breath and nothing you said actually mattered to him. He wouldn’t even register any questions or comments you had, just the ‘Uh-huh’ and ‘wow!’. It was like his problems were significantly more important than yours.
It was impossible to talk to him. And these days, with whatever Bella’s latest issue was, he never had time for you. You couldn’t even remember when was the last time you went on a date or talked about any of your problems.
Like Anthony from work..
Or
That you just heard a rumor that you’re gonna be fired.
Or even about you being sick.
You’re literally sitting in front of him with a sore throat, a migraine coming on, and shivering. But Jacob didn’t seem to notice. He was really impossible to talk to.
Would he even notice if you were gone?
Just up and disappeared one day?
Probably not, you think. You take another sip from your mug, baring a fake smile.
Trigger warning: mention of self-harm, Yandere tendencies, etc.
You were a problem.
Price yelled over the phone and tried to persuade everyone above him. He tried to get out it, he really did. But some things you just can’t avoid. Some company or outreach program was sending a photographer to spend a few hours with the taskforce to ‘document soldier life’. He sighed and resigned to the inevitable fate of his crew terrorizing some civilian. A civilian! Oh, Gaz is going to have a field day with this one. He prepares his men for your impending arrival, ordering them to tolerate the photographer for just a few hours.
Just a few hours, that’s all. Then you’d be gone.
You arrived with your black camera in hand. You were a shy, nervous little thing. Filled with anxiety and intrusive thoughts. A bundle of nerves walking into what felt like the wolves den. But you needed the money, so here you were. You marched right in and introduced yourself nervously. It was terribly awkward at first. Silence engulfed the room. You assumed it was because of you, horrible thoughts racing throughout your mind. You repeatedly apologized. However, it wasn’t for what you thought. The silence in the room was because a pretty little thing like you walked in.
Suddenly, the boys who were once dreading your appearance and plotting your downfall, are now attentive. They face you, introducing themselves or each other. Price tries to make you feel welcomed and gently orders you to tell him if you ever needed anything. You try to relax, and with Gaz’s jokes and everyone’s antics, you began to actually do so. You relax and shift into a more comfortable position in the situation.
As the men bombard you with jokes and questions, you quietly do your work. You offer a small plastic container of baked cookies you mustered up and promised to not photograph anyone or anything they didn’t want to. You even offered final review of the photos once you were done with them. Your honeyed words and sweet gestures immediately wormed its way into their hearts.
“Do ya have a partner?”
“Do ya like yer job?”
“What does that do-?”
They tried to remember, to keep in mind, that you’re just some civilian. Someone just here for a few hours, which is like minutes to these men. They really did try to keep it in mind. But the thought of you leaving just didn’t sit right with them. No, not at all. Even Price’s mental gears begins to shift and wonder how he could make you stay.
Then all shit breaks loose.
It started with Gaz and Soap making a borderline joke, tiptoeing in dark humor territory. You, however, embrace it. You make a joke yourself. However, they didn’t find it funny. Not a bit.
“Well, maybe I outta k*ll myself then.” you chuckled, raising your camera again to snap another shot. However it was much too quiet now. You lowered your camera to see each and every man still as could be. It was scary how still they were. It wasn’t right. How could anyone be that still? Your stomach sinks and your heart rate quickens. “What?”
Price approached first, breaking the deafening silence in the room with the sound of his shoes barely hitting the floor. He walked over and glanced a hand on your left shoulder. His grip was tight, but not painful. It was clearly letting you know you were not going anywhere any time soon.
“Excuse me?” Price asked with his nose slightly scrunched, his eyebrows furrowed. Your heart stilled as a shiver ran down your spine. Goosebumps ran across the skin of your arms and down your back.
You tried to reassure them it was a joke, that you didn’t mean any harm. That you were sorry. Not that it changed anything. Your eyes darted from man to man, feeling the intimation of their masks as theirs eyes bore into your being. Like they were looking into your soul. You apologized again and again. But they would have none of it.
The thought of their little birdie hurting yourself- no, dying… it was too much.
Now you couldn’t leave. No, no. You can’t. Even if you were joking, they couldn’t take that chance. What if you were really depressed and - Nope, not happening.
They all decided you weren’t going to leave that day. And you simply weren’t. You never did leave. They make sure of that. You were their little photographer.
Great, Price thought, he would have to make some phone calls. They had some work to do to make you ‘disappear’, and be with them forever. Where you really belonged.
For some reason or another, you ended up on a project detailing life as soldiers. You were assigned to the 141 Taskforce despite all complaints or resistance from anyone. It was supposed to be simple. Price yelled but no one above his station would hear him. It was simple, you, a civilian photographer, would be there first thing in the morning to make your rounds. Price eventually resigned and decided to spend his time better preparing the boys for your impending arrival. The boys weren’t all so excited, already planning to either mess with you or simply ignore you. Maybe a bit of intimation here and there.
But then they saw you.
You were shy, stumbling over apologies as you introduced yourself to the troops. You swore you wouldn’t photograph anyone if they didn’t want to, promised them final review of all photos before submission, and even brought some homemade baked goods for everyone. You were just so sweet.
And maybe that was your downfall.
Showing a pretty little thing like you in front of these men, promising them honeyed words and shy smiles. It was as if you were a cute little bunny in front of starving wolves. But they tried to keep it together. They really did. Soap and Gaz tried to be kind to you, making you laugh all so sweetly. You took your photos and talked with them, easing into the room due to Price’s deliberate and sneaky actions. His attempts to reassure you were successful and now suddenly, no one minded your presence. In fact, they seemed excited. They couldn’t help it.
It had been so long since someone was so kind and gentle with them. You were shy, yeah. But so damn sweet. With your sweet smiles and baked goods, it was hard, you know? To not care about you. To not grow attached.
But they all had a shared thought.
You would eventually leave.
You were just here for a little while, a few hours at best. Just visiting. You’re a civilian after all and they had work to do. But as you settled into a comfortable position with the men in the room and started to take photos with your camera, you let it slipped.
It was an accident, really. By all means.
Gaz made you laugh again, and the conversation started to slip into a bit of dark humor territory. You thought it was funny. You simply made a darker joke, mention your depression.
“Might as well kill myself now, huh?” You joked with a wide smile, moving the camera up to your eyeline again before pressing your index finger over the button. You ease the camera down, noticing how eerily quiet the room got. Your stomach does a flip and your heart rate slowly picks up. You were in danger. And you can feel it. A part of your mind begged you to take off running. But you couldn’t understand why.
You glance up at Ghost then Konig. Their eyes were on you, as you could see through their mask. Price, however, was the first out of all the way-too-still men to approach the matter. He gently sat his hand on your shoulder. But it was a firm grip, letting you know that you sure as hell wasn’t going anywhere anytime soon.
Hair: Short, blond, curly with strawberry highlights. He washes it every other day.
Super tan.
Dark brown eyes that will suck you in. Pretty face. If you don’t mind the dirt on it anyway.
SUPER built. Like he doesn’t look like it due to his lean build, but up close, you can see how jacked this man is from lugging things around (like bodies-) and farmer work.
Allergies: none :)
Fun fact: adores cats and birds. Loves apples. Fall is his favorite season (but the work on the farm is just so grueling for him then)
Ghost, Gaz, and every single member of their little team would 100% somehow end up at a laser tag place. They all think it’s stupid, but hey, at least they can spend some time with you and the rest of the team. You know, not in a combat situation.
So they all go. And they aren’t taking it so seriously. But then it happens.
Maybe you jokingly promise something silly like a hug or a kiss or maybe even a date to the winner of the tournament.
Suddenly, they’re the most dangerous people in the entire place.
They’re systematically picking off each member, acting like a real combat situation. It’s almost like they’re on an actual, literal mission. They take off each member until no one but themselves are left. Then it’s all hell’s broken loose.
Jack knew he was a bastard. A stupid, cruel, unrelenting man. But he couldn’t help it. Well, he probably could. But he swore he’d never change his ways. And why would he? He lied, cheat, stole.
He was a cowboy!
And in this day and age, of the late 1800’s, who wasn’t at least a little morally gray?
Then he met you.
Didn’t matter if you were practically a preacher or just another girl working in the saloon he frequented so much. You were different.
Didn’t matter if you stole or not. Or you really were not such a nice person. You were enough. He saw nothing but good in you. As if there was a visible little gold halo above your head.
He’d treat you so fine, in his opinion. Doesn’t drink as much. Doesn’t even bat an eye at any other girl or prositute in the saloon. He only steals little things he thinks you’d like.
A little book here.
A few coins there.
Maybe even once a horse.
But now his eyes settle on that pretty little emerald ring hiding away in the bank vaults in midtown. He just thinks it’ll sit so pretty on your finger. So Jack stands outside the bank, his hand hovering over the hilt of his gun strapped to his right side.
He’s got his plans. And whether you like it or not.
It was a huge milestone of scientific and technological advancement. (Plus, at the time, politically significant). Humanity went to space! We set foot on a celestial body that was not earth for the first time in human history! That’s a big deal! I’ve never thought about it before but now that I have, it’s ridiculous to me that that’s not part of our everyday lives and the public consciousness anymore. Why don’t we have a public holiday and a family barbecue about it. Why have I never seen the original broadcast of the moon landing? It should be all over the news every year!
It’s July 20th. That’s the day of the moon landing. Next year is going to be the 54th anniversary. I’m ordering astronaut shaped cookie cutters on Etsy and I’m going to have a goddamn potluck. You’re all invited.
PITCH: We call it Moon Day, and then every 7 years when it falls on a Monday, that's an even BIGGER deal and we call that Moon Day Monday and go absolutely apeshit about it (the next Moon Day Monday is in 2026 so we have a couple trial runs first)
I reblogged her late last year and my 2024 has been very satisfying work-wise and (secure enough to not stress out) money-wise so far. Money Snake is wise and good.
I mean, it’s not the Volturi could justify opening their “secret underground castle” to unsuspecting tourists nor would anyone want to go anywhere with crowds during the time of Quarantine…
