(Ā āæĀ ) ~Ā āIām not afraid of death, Lucina. None of us are, I believe - weāve been surrounded by it since we were young. First my parents⦠then the world⦠my friends, comrades, and not long ago, Morgan. I kept fighting anyway, but it turned out it was all for nothing. A lost cause.ā Inigo smiled sadly. The end was inevitable now, considering Grimaās reaction⦠But maybe he could make some sort of difference before then.
"I remember every time fallen soldiers were brought through the camps to be buried.. Morgan would always speak up, saying that they were family whoād given up their lives so that we may live, and make a difference in this horrid world we live in. Small sacrifices for a greater good, it seemed at the time, but now? Just empty deeds."
He clenched his fists tight, looking down at the ground. He felt tears beginning to form, but he didnāt feel himself caring too much. Who was there to see them, anyway?
"Our friends and family died for us. But to you, Grima, it doesnāt make a difference, does it? More humans to toss away⦠Who cares, right? All these souls with empty, unfulfilled promises of change⦠Gone. Itās amazing, isnāt it? One minute a person can be alive with energy and dreams, and the next, theyāre gone. A husk of nothing. What used to spout dreams and words of happiness⦠Gone, just like that.ā
He took a moment to brush the hair out of his eyes. "You know, for a while, I was wondering if Iām even alive. Everything has been taken away from me. All my family, almost all my friends and comrades, yet, I still fight on. Their memories and dreams used to motivate me, but now⦠I feel nothing."
The myrmidon reached down to his belt, unclipping his sword and tossing it away several feet. "They say dying without a fight is dishonourable⦠But dying without fulfilling your promises to loved ones.. Thatās even worse. Then again, what can I say? Empty words thatāll fall on deaf ears. Iāll say, Iām surprised you havenāt landed the final blow yet. Fortunately for you, Iām done talking. Iāve said what Iāve wanted⦠Choose to listen or not, that was your choice."
"So, you're choosing to die a cowards death rather then fight?"
"Very well, but know this right before you meet your end. How you stand now, defeated, sword discarded, hopeless."
... Screaming...
"This is how all who stand before me shall soon end up. I am the wings of Despair, the fell dragon who brings death to everyone. And no petty words will change that!"
...It's so loud...
Slowly, Lucina began to approach Inigo, Sword withdrawn.
"Ylisse will fall under my wrath. And when only few remain, my glory will be known throughout!"
...It won't stop...
She raised her sword, ready to strike him down.
...She won't... Stay...
... Lucina's hand did not move...
It stood there raised in the air, trembling and hesitating.
... Quiet...
