I liked Josh Hutcherson as Peeta, he's a really good actor and I think he did a great job with what he had. Most people complain about him not physically looking like book!peeta but I really don't mind that as long as the actor portraits well the personality of the character. And i think he did his best with the script they gave him.

A friend of mine read THG for the first time recently. She had no context about the plot except for the first half hour of the Catching Fire movie, which she had started watching but never finished it. When she finished the first book and saw that Peeta had lost his leg I was literally sitting beside her and she said "oh so that's why he was limping in the movie!!" And I was like "what do you mean?? That doesn't happen in the movies" so I rewatched Catching Fire and its true, JH kind of limps a little, but i don't know if he did that on purpose (I know he read the books) or if it's just how he walks normally

people who try to erase the fact that katniss really did care about gale, and that gale truly did love her, miss a very important part of the narrative. yes she says peeta always would’ve happened, and that’s definitely true, but that doesn’t mean her feelings, or his, weren’t real.

it just feels like it erases some of her autonomy, and the real beauty of everlark. she didn’t ‘pick’ peeta because she never loved anyone else, or because she needed him to survive, or because there was no other option- it’s because she wanted him. which in a world where wanting things is so incredibly dangerous, is far more romantic in my opinion. she could only truly be with him when she could admit she wanted him around for no other reason than that, she wanted him.

just annoys me when people feel the need to make claims of ‘katniss clearly didn’t actually like gale’ or ‘gale was just possessive he didn’t love her’ in attempts to say there was no love triangle when that in fact just reduces the story even more to dumb stereotypes.

Revolutionary thought in this fandom but IDGAF about ships. I think the canon relationships in the books are narritively appropriate and well wrapped up. And i think there are more interesting aspects of the characters to be speculated on than who their smashing also.

My biggest, most controversial fandom take is that a certain character is explicitly stated to have only ever been in one relationship according to the canon established in the books. It's not morally wrong or bad to enjoy fanworks that portray otherwise, but it is important to note that the character in question is not real. He can not be sad that you are reading a fanwork that contradicts the canon ending he was given in the books. That being said. Once again, the aforementioned character was stated on page to have only ever been in one relationship, and trying to extrapolate canon basis for a certain pairing seen in a lot of fanwork is kind of futile.

i don’t like hayffie and i think Lenore Dove is the most tiresome character in all the franchise. Not everything is about ship-fight guys, sometimes a character is just extremely annoying and selfish

as much as I would love a book about Peeta, and I would absolutely adore getting his point of view, it doesn’t make sense and I don’t think we’re getting it.

Besides the time when Peeta was captured by the capital, he’s with Katniss for pretty much the entire series, and a book about him wouldn’t simply not give us enough new scenes and content, it would just feel repetitive from the original series

i actually think it's fine if you haven't read the books and/or aren't planning on it. reading isn't for everybody, and the movies are really good, the fandom should be for both movie fans and book fans

i really don't understand why people felt obliged to like lenore dove, and then why they didn't like her. ok i know you don't have to like any character but i didn't feel like suzanne was trying to make us like lenore dove. rather, she portrayed a realistic teenager girl in my opinion. i mean, have you ever been a rebellious teenage girl? especially in an environment (country, city, culture, home etc) that required you to be a rebel? i have (though i am not a girl anymore lol). i live in a really politically chaotic and f#ed up country and when i was 14-16 i was FULL OF RAGE towards the government and basicly tried to be a "rebel" at every opportunity i had and at some point, it was my whole personality. you could say that i am still that way but with puberty and hormones and all, i felt everything hundred times more. so i dont think lenore dove was supposed to be likeable by being reckless and rebellious and angry at the system. she was just a relatable and realistic portrayal of teenage anger and young girls who tried to find their own place in the world by creating that place with rebellious acts and love. sorry if it is too long or if i have caused any misunderstandings. have a good day :)
