Not sure how important this is to name here and/or if it even matters, especially given my cyclical relationship with tumblr, but alas: I am likely going to discontinue using this... Again... Because it unfortunately doesn't feel like a particularly safe platform to do anything other than reblog TV gifs or poetry on. I recognize that like, lol, the internet isn't a safe place and to expect that to be the case is expecting something laughably far-fetched. But, this corner of the internet, which has previously been fairly quiet and nice, sometimes has moments that are not so quiet and nice and that gives me pause.
Over the course of the last several months, I've received an uptick in invasive and uncomfortable anonymous messages. It's hard to know where these messages are coming from, but it certainly has had me worrying that people in my personal (albeit peripheral) life have found my blog and have taken to checking it and trying to find more info. Or, it's just people already following me, which, hey, whatever, that's weird and icky, too. Again, this is obviously the way of the internet, and I'm not surprised, but I don't know that I'd expected for something on the more private end (not many followers, can't search for my blog, can't view it without having an account) to have me so frequently looking over my shoulder.
I'd prefer not to over-sanitize my blog for the sake of avoiding what feels like aggressive paranoia - especially when I do that across just about every other social media platform I maintain - so may as well just be done with it.
I'll likely keep this blog because I continue to troll tumblr for memes and because I'll likely still check in on and say hi to my favorite tumblr people.
