Bold early in the year statement: Local Palate in Phelps tops my list of places visited and reviewed this year. The small cafe boasts crafts to craft beer, baked goods, fresh ingredients, events and live music, and an enthusiastic staff. A great reminder eating at and supporting locally owned and focused businesses is a worthwhile choice. Worth a. Is it and will hook you in to come on back. Her first publication with illustrator Jennica Lounsbury (@jennicadraws) sheds light into autism through the eyes and feelings of a young boy. It’s National Pizza Day, and how can we not celebrate with Toss & Fire (@tossnfirepizza)? Especially with a wood fire pizza called “The Avery Whit,” right? No coincidence with the name. Our little girl and pup have an eponymous pizza with some killer ingredients: Garlic olive oil with pecorino romano, light shredded mozzarella, roasted red peppers, applewood smoked bacon, arugula, burrata cheese and hot honey. Tradition continues for the third year in a row: Christmas tree and then a meal at Heritage Hill. Hit up a new farm this year, at Falls Farm in Manlius, and incredibly happy with the tree we cut down on the small lot. Then to the ever consistent, satisfying Heritage Hill (@heritagehillbrewery) for flights, fried cauliflower and mushrooms, the Smoked Turkey BLT with Mac and cheese, meatloaf and cheddar grilled, and burgers (not shown).
