I'm a Gryffindor INFP too :D
wooo us Gryffindor/INFP’s must stick together!! haha :)
Since the emotional differences are the most dissonant in the INFP/ISTJ relationships, what about INFP/ISFJ?
Unlike the ISTJ/INFP pairing, I think the sharing of the Feeling function will round out the relationship and the differences in the other functions. INFP’s rely on their feelings so much that the sharing of this type will mean that they will be able to understand each other on an emotional level rather than them getting offended like with an ISTJ. The ISFJ is often loyal and conscientious and I think the INFP will admire and respect those qualities. Both types are protective of things that they love and so they will always be looking out for each others feelings. The ISFJ might take a while to open up but I think these types in particular would understand each other more than other introverted types. The problem between this pairing, in my opinion, would be the INFP’s dislike of mundane activities compared with the ISFJ who takes their responsibilities very seriously. This might mean that the ISFJ could feel that they are holding up the relationship and always have to do the ‘hard’ stuff while the INFP is too busy day dreaming. Also both types will do a lot to avoid conflict which means If there is a problem they won’t want to cause a fuss meaning that there could be future problems when everything gets all too much to handle. Despite these problems, I think this pairing could be really good and In my opinion, probably better than an ISTJ/INFP pairing. Also check out this page for more.
Hmmm...what do you see the story being for a ISFP boy and INFP girl, absolutely in love yet not physically together?
I think both types would be reluctant to go up to the other and actually ask them on a date etc. because of their introverted nature. I feel like this relationship would be really great and I can understand how the two would be absolutely in love. However I think that both types might be scared of rejection or (the INFP in particular) might think that they are looking at the pairing in an idealistic manner. Therefore they might think that the other partner would only want a friendship, despite them always getting along and obviously being in love with one another. I think If one of them was to get some sort of reassurance from another party that the other partner does want a relationship then they might gain some confidence and confess their feelings
I disagree about the INFP/ENFJ ideal romance. As a ENFJ, I have had some very close INFP friends, but INFP boys drive me crazy in romantic settings haha. What do you think about INFP/INTP relationships?
Yeah I can totally understand that it might not work in a romantic setting, i guess its just personal preference sometimes
I’ve heard that this relationship usually works well when the two come together but it’s often classed as the shy, artsy girl and the jock football player cliche. I think that again the problem in this pairing would be the F/T difference, INFP’s are really emotional, we base our decisions on our morals and we are often over emotional about things we care about (such as our relationship). The INFP might have an ideal picture of the INTP understanding them on an emotional level and get disappointed when the INTP doesn’t understand or brushes it off. They also struggle to share emotions and feelings as well as reading other peoples emotions. Because the INFP’s dominant function is Fi they might get easily offended and bottle up their emotions which could lead to later problems that would just baffle the INTP.
Despite this I think this would be a fantastic pairing, I think there would be many deep and intellectual conversations. I think that they would get along amazingly on this intellectual level because they both aren’t fussed about mundane problems and would prefer to think about the future or abstract ideas. Debates might be caused over the INFP being too idealistic and the INTP being too rational but I think both types would be able to agree to disagree about most topics. If both types have similar values and principles then they will both be very protective of these ideals. Both types are very passionate about their principles, the INFP will base these on how they feel about it and the INTP will base them on what they believe is logical. If they have good communication then the pair will understand each others morals and values and respect those. Also often protecting the relationship will be one of those principles meaning that anything that threatens it will have to face the pair whose easy going nature will change when their principles are compromised.
I think this couple can work on many levels, particularly on an intellectual level. The connection between these two types seems to be rare but when it happens it is great for both partners. Hope that helps you out :)

What about being an INFP and sorted into Hufflepuff? Would that be considered rare or?
In my opinion, I think INFP/Hufflepuff would be the most compatible match. Because of Feeling being our dominant function, compassion, empathy and tolerance is key for INFP’s. So I feel like the Hufflepuff traits of kindness, hard work and loyalty would come easily to INFP’s, I can’t say I’ve seen INFP’s and hufflepuff’s matched often on tumblr though. It seems like INFP’s are always put as ravenclaws, also like I said before, it all comes down to what people value at heart rather than your psychology or personality. So there will always be variants x
Hey I have noticed that recently you have been answering questions about personality types and Hogwarts houses. I'm an INFP and I got sorted into Slytherin. Is this a normal pairing because I see more INFPs in Ravenclaw?
INFP’s and slytherin are a matching that I think is quite rare, I haven’t seen it on tumblr. However, I feel like the hogwarts houses are quite broad, they’re less about your psychology and more about your personal values. That’s why there’s such a mixture of personalities within each house. Most INFP’s tend to be put in ravenclaw because of our idealistic views, appreciation of individuality and often studious nature. But I feel like this is sometimes a bit of a generalisation, I don’t think it’s weird that you’re classed as slytherin but I don’t think its commonly spoken about. However I would research the traits of each type If you’re confused about which one you’re in xx
Hello there.:) I wonder, do You have any other blogs? If You don't mind sharing them, of course. :)
Hi :) my main blog is catchingdfire I don’t post that often on that one but feel free to check it out xxx
I'm soo sorry, I don't want to bother or annoy you but I have another question! Do you, as an INFP have something like... When you find out you're something, some tpe of something, for example INFP, you read all about it, find out more(that's not very Gryffindor of me (:)? Is it a thing for INFPs?
So you mean when you find out you’re an INFP you want to find out more? (I hope that’s right haha)
I wouldn’t say it’s necessarily an INFP thing, but I guess when people find out about their personality and go into further detail it becomes even more intriguing. I’ve learnt more about who I am through mbti because I’m always looking for new stuff to find out about my personality. I think perhaps it’s just If you enjoy learning about who you are or fitting yourself into certain types. I’m actually not too sure (TO MY FOLLOWERS: If you have a better answer to this then please send one through and I’ll post it :)
Do you know how one could determine whether they're a Gryffindor or Ravenclaw INFP? I have a lot of Gryffindor pride and value bravery above everything else, but at the same time I seem to have many Ravenclaw traits. I don't want to be "stuck".
I understand where you’re coming from completely, I think I have many ravenclaw traits but I am almost certain I am gryffindor. The way I see it, you can show traits of all the houses but your true house belongs to what qualities you admire and value. For example, Hermione was almost put into ravenclaw because she values wit and knowledge but the sorting hat put her into gryffindor. Just because she is smart and values knowledge and learning, her determination in her actions to do what she sees as morally right overrides that determination to gain knowledge. I think an example is where Hermione leaves Hogwarts to help Harry find the horcrux. I think most ravenclaws would be horrified to have to give up the protection of the school and actually finishing their education. Hermione is willing to put her life on the line because she values bravery and her friendships over education. She could have stayed at the school and helped to continue the DA which would be more like a ravenclaw action. If you feel that you value bravery and courage in the face of adversity over the provision of knowledge, having strength in wit and being original then you are probably gryffindor. If you feel that acceptance, eccentricity and wisdom are more important then you are probably ravenclaw.
I hope that makes sense and it’s not too confusing hahaha
I'm an INFP and a Gryffindor too! Can you tell me about INFP/ISTJ friendship? :)
OOH yay there’s another one of me!! hahaha
I actually have a really close friendship with an ISTJ, she is witty, sarcastic and really fun to be around. She always seems to have a way of making me feel better because of her bright personality. If you don’t know her, she is seen as quiet or cold and probably seen as a nerd. Similarly, I as an INFP is seen as quiet and a little weird by people I don’t know well but once each other are willing to open up, a great friendship is created. We are both quite intellectual so we often have great discussions about school work and we often have debates with each other. The point of difference I find between us is when it comes to emotions, I am easily offended because of my Fi. Also I have an emotional response to making decisions, I will always go with my gut instinct and what I believe is right and moral. Whereas my ISTJ will think about what is logical and realistic which is where we often clash. She doesn’t have time for my emotions and feelings and can’t relate to why I would get so offended and react emotionally. On the other hand I think she appreciates my ability to show compassion and empathy, she can’t relate to it or show it herself but I think she appreciates my support of her freedoms and opinions. Similarly I admire her ability to be reasonable, witty and always happy. So I think this friendship is one that can involve deep debates, sometimes with problems but generally I think it’s a great combination :)
Sorry if this has been asked already, but I couldn't find a way to search for it. How well would an INFP/ISTJ relationship work?
This type are completely different in terms of functions apart from their introversion, this is not always a bad thing though. I think the main problems that would arise in this relationship is that the ISTJ might say something blunt because they are not overly emotional people which the INFP would take personally. This happens a lot with particularly ST types, INFP’s are described as overly emotional and ISTJ’s are sometimes seen as robots because of a lack of empathy. I think this is the main area of difference for this pairing, a deep intellectual conversation could easily turn into a fight leaving the INFP feeling lonely. Also If the INFP was seeking help or compassion the ISTJ would probably find it hard to comfort them or relate to their emotional response. It’s not that the ISTJ doesn’t care, it is just hard for them to see an emotional response as logical or justified which is generally where the ‘cold’ stereotype comes from.
On the other hand, this relationship could be amazing. ISTJ’s are not robots, in fact when you get to know them they are bubbly and happy and initiate some great intellectual conversations that the INFP could be fascinated in. ISTJ’s are friendly and are great to be around, they are described as smiley and not meek or shy once you get to know them. The INFP might be shy but once they are willing to open up they are great listeners and ideas people that mesh really well with this type. Despite the idealistic view of the INFP clashing with the ISTJ’s reality and the feelings problems I think this relationship could work really well.
hey (: Im probably sure Im an INFP, I wanted to know if it's a infp thing to really freak out when people force or push you to do sth, and then I won't do it even if it was my intention of doing it anyway.
Hi there :)
Yes, I think that is something that can be common in us INFP’s, our dominant function is based on how we feel and our internal belief system. If someone tries to force you to do something that you don’t believe is right or you simply don’t want to do it for a certain reason then you will probably see them as bossy and pushy. INFP’s hate people who force others into things because we value our freedom and rights so much. That’s why we are sometimes labeled as social justice fighters because we hate the thought of someones freedoms being jeopardized. Also because of our P function, we are one of the lazy types so when people tell us to do mundane things like clean bedrooms or pay bills we tend to forget about it. Hope that answers your question!! xx
Hey, I was wondering why a lot of INFPs tend to be sorted into the Ravenclaw house.
I notice this happening so often as well!! hahaha I am personally an INFP and gryffindor which is unusual
I did a bit of research and found this post, I think it sums up the reasons quite succinctly and well :)
“This is a very common type among Ravenclaws, and they are some of the most intuitive and considerate within the house. They often watch others, saying nothing, but modestly offering to lend a useful hand when they are needed. They are not very social, but tend to have a few very close friends. These people they are very loyal to, and willing to do things they would not normally do if they need it.”
Ravenclaw’s are original in their ideas and methods of magic and are always striving to learn more as well as appreciating wit, eccentricity and intelligence. While these aren’t necessarily traits of all INFP’s, our intellectual nature and love of originality through our dreaming is often similar to that of the typical Ravenclaw type. Perhaps because Luna Lovegood is often typed as an INFP (an extreme one at that) people tend to associate us with ravenclaw haha
as an infp, do you sometimes feel like you're free (as in spirit, heart, soul, etc) but feel trapped inside of your flesh prison?
Definitely!! I think this is quite common in this type. We are known as dreamers and free spirits who are full of emotion but as I’ve said before, we often try to suppress our feelings. I think this is ultimately down to the Fi which deals with our own personal morals and beliefs rather than our environment and the people around us. This means that we are visionaries and often have an idealistic outlook on life because we hope that the realities will match our inner beliefs and feelings. However, If something contradicts our ideals it can make you take things personally or feel incapable of helping. For example, today I got really upset at a news story on xenophobic rallies, I have this idealistic view of the world as a multicultural and accepting society. The reality of islamophobia made me feel terrible, the whole trapped in my body feeling came from the anger that I had towards my inability to change these people’s mindsets. Similarly Fi can make people hold in their emotions rather than speaking out or sharing feelings. We often take things personally making us scared of conflict and getting hurt, to prevent this we often keep to ourselves. Our dreamy facade can often hide a lot of personal problems that we struggle to share with others leading to that trapped feeling.
