WAIWOW - What Am I Working On Wednesday I am so very close to having my structure for episode 3 of Wanderer ready to write. I had a breakthrough with plotting last week, and so now I'm confident in saying all the elements of the episode are there. Some elements are less fleshed out than others, but that's the fun of it. Having said that, I spent almost my whole lunch hour reading the first 2-3 acts of the episode, and moving many scenes around, adding a bit here, cutting a bit there, trying to make it flow smoothly and to tell the story better. It's slow, and hard, but utterly rewarding when you see it coming together. Now, Easter break is coming - and I'm setting myself a ridiculously ambitious task. I'm hoping that by the end of it, I will have structured up to episode 5 of Wanderer. I'm almost finished with episode 3, so that will give me four days to structure two episodes. Wanderer - Episode 2 ✔️ Down to the last minute, but I JUST managed to finish it before the end of my lunch break today! Really fun episode to write, lots of emotion and action - challenging to write, but really exciting and rewarding 😄 In fact, I think my last two pages of writing had more action than I've ever written before. And I'm only on the SECOND EPISODE and this is a LIGHT episode. Can't wait to write the rest. And on that note, now I'm back to the drawing board for episode three. Yaaay! WAIWOW - What Am I Working On Wednesday Introducing the two main characters of my new series - Wanderer Alicia is smart, strong, determined, and powerful - which makes sense, with her being a deadly killer and all. She is someone you want as your ally (but only if you can afford her and don't mind risking a knife wound), and DO NOT want as your enemy (see knife wound threat above). Wesley is a performer at heart, but a tragedy has turned that heart cold. Searching out Alicia, he is looking to convince her to teach him so he may finally have some closure. It's been fun exploring these characters - I'm now well into the script for episode 2 and it is really coming together. WAIWOW - What Am I Working On Wednesday I'm so annoyed because I am LITERALLY a page away from finishing this script, and yet my laptop was 10 minutes short on battery life. But I figure close enough, I'll finish it when I get home tonight (I was so SO close, guys...so frustrated) - and I'll post about it now! Wanderer - Episode 1 I've been working on this series since sometime in January I think, and every step has just gotten more layered. I have an 8 episode season planned, with ep 1 and 2 plotted out and outlined, 4-5 in various stages of plotting/outlining and 3 is a bit up in the air (so I'm trying not to think about it for now). I was plotting episode 2 all weekend and it was so much fun I can't wait to sink my teeth into it, and the whole plot of this series is gritty and just fun. But the main point is - I'M EXCITED! These are the first new script pages I've written this year and it's SO great to see myself making some progress that I can show! Writing is hard, and you need a lot of determination to keep going and working on it day in and day out. WAIWOW - What Am I Working On Wednesday Yesterday I started working on the first script for my new series - Wanderer. I've been planning and plotting this series for about a month and a half now, so it's incredibly exciting to finally start writing. Also, it's exciting to get back to Final Draft - this is the first new script I've written this year. I've missed that feeling of creating something new, scene by scene, visualising it all in front of me. This is what I love. It's great to get back to it. I can't wait to keep going. Note: I had no idea what to photograph for WAIWOW this week - I was almost gonna leave it another week until I laid down in bed and looked up. I call this guy Brad. WAIWOW - What Am I Working On Wednesday I know I've been slack on posting, but that's only because work has been insane and writing progress has been slow. The start of the year has been a struggle to find the right project, to get ideas flowing and to get down and writing. I have definitely been writing - almost every day - but the writing is planning, lots and lots of planning across multiple projects, as well as editing. So here's my update: Everyday Superhero - two weeks ago I did a really helpful polish, and cut out a LOT of crap. It's so much better as a result, and I think it's looking really good Newheart Pilot - I fixed up the structure a bit a few weeks ago and have played around with it so it feels better. It needs a full read through and edit from start to finish, but when that will happen because time is not my friend, I don't know. Hopefully soon. Then I can figure out where the rest of the series will go - which needs a lot more work Young Aunt Film - a film I was plotting through a lot of January and struggling to get my head around. There's a lot of good stuff there, and I'm definitely gonna come back to it...I'm just letting it settle before I go and figure out how best to move forward, specifically with the structure Wanderer - this has taken most of my time. A new series I've been working on, where I happily plotted a story arc and figured out what was going to happen until episodes 4-8 really excited me. And then I realised episode 1 really needed to be the best. That's what's been holding me up. But this past week I've made progress. Hopefully in the next week or two I'll be ready to start writing the pilot script. That's most of what I've been doing this past month and a half. I've been trying to focus on one project at a time, because I tend to swap projects when I'm struggling with one, which means having 4-5 different projects which are far from completion. It is the most frustrating thing to feel in my heart like I'm not making progress, even though I know I am. But I'm persevering. Getting things done and trying to not kick myself for not doing as much as I would have hoped. But I'm moving on. Wednesday already!? Exciting day - now that I've finished everything I wanted to finish this year, I'm diving deep into my 40-50 page backstory for my Red Planet series! It's been so long I'd forgotten that the titles on each page are still the Red Planet (NOT the working title for the series...) - but it makes me smile whenever I see it, so I'm keeping it that way. WAIWOW - What am I working on Wednesday After the past week or two working on a screenwriting application, it's nice to get back to my film script for Everyday Superhero. I always knew the first act would be the easiest part, and that had come across - these past few days have been stuck into the difficult stuff RIGHT in the middle of the film. I just finished the second act and I'm 14 pages over where I thought I'd be at the end of the second act. Considering this is my first film script, I think that's alright. Time to buckle down and slam through en epic third act.
