“You’re like the only women to ever believe from the get go. Gahhh.. Why you gotta be married?”
"Well because I was a foolish young girl who fell in love with a brilliant mind." She sighed as she thought of the time she had crashed after Reed, now she wasn't so sure what was going on. "But don't pout, I'm sure there's other girls like my out there. Probably even better ones."
“Uh…can I help you, doll?”
"I hope so! I seem to have lost my son. He's four and... oh he was just here!"
She scoffs and glares at him. "Well excuse me."
“Hmm? Oh, no, come in,”
"They said I might find you down here."
“Careful! You just about stepped on an anthill, I’m pretty sure you wouldn’t want to be stepped on, so watch it,”
"An anthill?" She looked down at the small mound of fine dirt that she was about to step on and instead moved around it. "Many people don't notice small things like that, you have a very good eye."
“Mrs Richards, of course. The lease agreements.”
"That's right. It seems like forever ago." She laughed softly. "What brings you around to this part of the city?"
“Oh, you heard about that, huh? I mean, it was more Jason than me, I was just kinda there for the ride. But I’ll totally take a hug, I am a complete slut for hugs.”
"I did hear about that. It's actually a very small world relatively." She kept her smile on even as Jason Todd was brought up. She still couldn't bring herself to like him, even though Johnny seemed to honestly like him for some reason. "I honestly doubt that it was more Mr. Todd's doing. Violent people tend to not use their brains as much as they should. Plus you're a very smart young man. I'm sure you would have been fine on your own." She laughed softly and nodded her head. "Well I'm sure you already knew this but us Storms give amazing hugs." She stepped up to him and wrapped him up in a hug, placing a kiss to his cheek. "Thank you again, Cisco."
Peter looked down at his chest, very boldly emblazoned with a spider. And that wasn’t even mentioning the red and blue spandex. “… I’m kind of hard to miss.”
She was very tempted to smack the boy in the arm. "That's not what I meant, and you are smart enough to know that. I have a hard enough time keeping Franklin from copying Johnny, please just... keep the spidertricks to a minimal while my four year old is running around?"
“Yes, we shall! You promised cookies. No take-backs!”
"No take-backs, of course. We're Storms. We don't do take-backs." She laughed and leaned up to kiss him on the cheek and poke at Franklin. This is what she loved. Just being with her two favorite boys, heading off to have some family time. She'd even con Johnny into staying for a movie, and helping put Franklin down for bedtime. Maybe even get him to stay the night. She hadn't made pancakes for him in far too long.
“Sis…you know what it’s like in there. You know what the effects’re like, even when you’re only there for like, an hour. You know how long it takes to wear off…” Johnny shuffled until he was pressed against her, the side of his face against her tummy and his arms wrapped around her middle. “I was there for thirty freakin’ years, Susie, I don’t know if I can do college, like, at all. I’m sorry, sis. I know you did it, and I know like, everyone we know did it, but I– …I honestly think the only thing that like, I can like, physically actually do outside the Fantastic Four is messing around with cars and stuff. I just…can’t do college.”
Having Johnny cuddle against her reminded her of when he was younger and would struggle through school work. She's just hush him, hum a song, and ran her fingers through his hair. She moved her hand to his hair now, but didn't start humming. She just listened. She had always wanted the best for Johnny. To see his dreams come true. He worked so hard to prove that he could do it, just to have it all destroyed. Now all he could do was be the hero that he had become and it broke her heart in a way she had never thought possible. "Then you don't have to do college, Johnny. I want you to be happy, that's all I've ever wanted for you. I know you wanted to be an astronaut since you were a little kid, and I don't want you to give up on that." She leaned down enough to press a kiss to his head and gave him a soft smile. "You know, with your knowledge of cars and mechanics, maybe you could do that? Start your own garage. We can convert the unused parking garage space at the Baxter Building into a work space for you. I'm sure every woman in the city would love to have the famous Human Torch work on their car."
“Then you’ll just have to take my word for it, but I’ll take a polygraph test if I must.”
"I'm not going to make you take a polygraph." She shook her head as she grinned. "I believe you."
“Define young.”
"Well my Franklin is going to be five this year... Typically, in this sense, 'young' would mean children under the age of ten."
“Let me take a wild guess: nothing gets done and nobody actually bakes anything?”
"Oh so you have a young son too?"
The half smile that crossed his lips was almost unrecognizable. With traffic built like Gotham itself and the terrible nightlife he was almost certain she’d get to the building before him. It’d taken him all of ten minutes to finally see the obnoxious four on the roof, but when he did he pulled to a hault, hopping off the black bike and looking up to where he assumed she’d be. “Obnoxious four, not hard to miss. Was that the understatement of the year..”
"Reed has no actual tact. My brother didn't help matters any." She reappeared floating in the air and lowered the platform she was on. Giving him a smile she motioned towards the man in the green cloak that was standing just down the road watching them. "Batman, meet Victor von Doom. Better known as Doctor Doom. By the way, I don't know if I've mentioned, but the police won't be taking him. He's got diplomatic immunity."
“Oh, man. Yes, you are! I mean you’re Sue, not unfunny. I mean maybe you are but I don’t know, I can’t verify that, we haven’t met yet. Why haven’t we met yet? Johnny loves me. I’m Cisco, nice to meet you!”
"Cisco? As in Cisco Ramon?" Sue grinned and laughed softly. "You mean the one responsible for giving me my brother back? I owe you a hug and a giant thank you."
“Do these eyes look like they’d lie, though?”
"No of course they don't."
“I wouldn’t miss it. I heard there was a bouncy castle.”
"Of course you've come for the bouncy castle. Just don't let Franklin see you please, because he'll try to copy you. And I really don't need to deal with a spiderchild."
