I NEED A PILOT

RY grimaced when the man asked about where Poe was. “Poe was taken captive by the First Order. I helped him escape.” She completely skipped over the part where she was a stormtrooper, sensing that maybe the First Order isn’t particularly welcoming here. She turned to the droid, sensing that it might be a more amiable presence at the moment. Plus the news was about his Master. “Poe didn’t make it.” She told him gently.

      Finn frowns down at her as she speaks, the staff lowering just a little but not fully, and when she turns to address BB-8 he finds himself lowering it fully. BB-8 makes a series of sad beeps, moving back over to join him, and Finn reaches down to offer her his hand and help her to her feet. “What’s your name?”

Already hungry and dehydrated, RY didn’t have the legs on her to get far but bloody hell, she was going to try. She whipped her head around to check whether the man and droid were following her and found herself on the floor, sand kicked up around her. “Ow! What the hell!” She cried out, holding the back of her head as the droid rolled over and began holding a small shocker against her leg. She furrowed her brow and then looked down at the jacket once more. “Poe Dameron?” She asked the droid.

      Finn is glaring down at her right along with BB-8, watching as the droid sticks her up with the shocker he produces. BB-8 beeps that she said the right name, and Finn frowns, keeping his staff trained on her. “Exactly. That’s his jacket, and he’s BB-8′s master. How did you get that jacket, and where is Poe Dameron?”

At first, she saw the droid see her and beep wildly at something. She had no idea why she would cause so much strife for the droid, he hadn’t met her. As the droid called the attention of the male stood next to the unit, RY looked down at her arms and realised. She was wearing Poe’s jacket. A moment later, the man and the droid was racing towards her. She wasn’t proud of how quickly she legged it, turning and racing back through the tents. 

      As soon as she starts running, Finn takes off after her, breaking into a full sprint. BB-8 is right there with him, beeping away, and when Finn notices her trying to cut through a few tents he takes a short cut to cut her off. He arrives in front of her and sweeps his staff at her legs, knocking her to the ground. “Where do you think you’re going? BB-8 says that jacket doesn’t belong to you.”

RY-8377 had been walking for hours through the desert now. She’d long since discarded the white armour she’d spent her life in and the blaster, leaving only her black under suit and boots. Maybe that wasn’t the wisest choice, but she didn’t want to see that blaster again. She used Poe’s jacket to shield her from the sun until she found the outpost. Slipping her arms into the jacket sleeves, hilariously oversized on her slender shoulders, she walked between tents for someone who might spare some water or food. 

That was when she saw it: the droid Poe had spoke of. The droid wasn’t alone. 

      BB-8 starts beeping excitedly, nudging his leg so hard he almost falls, and he’s quick to drop to a crouch beside the droid to ask him what’s going on. BB tells him that there’s a thief wearing his friend’s jacket, and his gaze narrows as he looks up to see a young woman staring over at them. “Her?” He points his staff toward her, and BB-8 confirms, just as they both take off running after her.

     “Hey, you! Get back here.”

KIRA’S arms fold back against her chest.  it isn’t defensive  ;  instead, it’s  SMUG, self-assured.  the pop of her brow says only amusement, maybe even a quirk of approval. ‘ i’m not,’ she sizes him up.’ no one warned me you were such a eye candy.’ she title her head. and continue.’       Kira. i’ll let you figure out the rest.’

      Finn’s mind is racing. Rey was supposed to meet him here, but she’s not here. This... KIRA may look like Rey, but she’s definitely not her. “Where is Rey?” He asks after a moment, his jaw clenching a little as he looks her over. “You better not have harmed her.”

Frustration escapes his lips in a breath and Poe knows there’s little that can be done for the position they’re in. “Well do YOU have a better one?” He shoots back, anger quick to manifest in his features. “Or do I have to do everything around here?” 

      Finn presses his lips together as Poe asks if he has a better one, squinting at his friend for a moment as he tries to think of one. “We do it QUIETER. There’s no use us drawing attention if we want to make it back out. I say disguises.”

Another smile dashes across her face as she watches Finn prepare himself. Missions are always better when he’s with her, she’s decided. No matter how much she claims to want to be alone, Finn always manages to make her change her mind.

Which is why she doesn’t shove him off when he bumps into her. They’d come a long way from yanking hands away in the Jakku desert. 

“…not…really.” she admits. The cave is quiet, feeling somewhat abandoned. It makes her nervous. “The General said it was small, something from the last war…but I don’t…feel anything calling.”

She hesitates with her next question, only for a moment.

“…do you?”

      Finn’s brows raise up a little when she asks if HE feels anything. He doesn’t, of course-- except uncomfortable. This dark, damp cave isn’t exactly the ideal spot to find oneself. 

     “No... I’ve got nothing, sorry.” He’d figured if anyone was going to sense something, it would be her. And if she doesn’t, well... does that mean they’re in the wrong cave?

     “Well, I guess all we can do is keep heading further in, then... See if anything pops out.” He presses his lips together, giving a resolute nod before he starts walking forward again, deeper into the cave. 

     “Do you think it’ll be in a creepy box?”

     “Just... Put the weapon down, man. It doesn’t have to be this way.”

Eoin saw Finn offer his hand and that made him relax a little bit more. He stepped forward and took his hand, giving it a firm and friendly shake. “Well, that question is the reason why I’m here.” He released Finn’s hand and stepped off to the side slightly.

“Finn, this isn’t going to be easy for you to believe,” he began again. “Hell, it hasn’t been easy for me to accept either but…” He trailed off for a moment, preparing for any number of reactions he could possibly get from Finn. “You and I brothers,” he broke it to Finn. “Identical twins, to be exact.”

      Finn’s features contort, once again, into an expression of sheer confusion. This is... This isn’t easy to comprehend at all. How can he have a twin and have no idea about him at all?

     “Identical twins.” He repeats, more to himself than to Eoin. He brings a hand up, fingers covering his mouth as he thinks this over, brows still pinched tightly together. “Suppose that makes sense. We look exactly alike after all.” He exhales, dropping his hand to his hip. “And... Why’d you choose now to come and find me?”

“Mhm.” Rey smiles slyly, always a little proud to be right about things. “Incentive considered. Now, come on. You’ve got your comm on, right?”

Just in case they get separated, of course. In the dark, expansive, eerie, not-at-all-inviting, horrid-smelling cave the fighter had been blocking. But they needed to do this, didn’t they? They were searching for relics. Relics lived in old places. This strange cave on a planet called Dagobah was certainly old. 

“…I hope so. The General said it was an important place…”

     “Of course I’ve got my comm on.” He tuts, as he sneakily flicks on the comm. He’s not about to admit that he forgot.

      He reaches into his pocket for his torch, switching it on as they begin to make their way down into the cave. It’s pitch black, easy to get lost in, and so if he takes a little step closer to Rey? Don’t worry about it.

     “It SEEMS pretty important.” He hums, shoulder bumping hers as he shines his light around them, looking for the best path. “Which way? You... sensing anything?”

“This isn’t a prank, Finn,” Eoin told Finn. “That’s what they call you, right?” He asked, double-checking. He takes a step forward, cautious. “I’ve been looking for you since I left the First Order.” He said, keeping his composure as he looked into the eyes of his twin. It was true – what he read in his file was true and he couldn’t believe it.

“I’m Eoin.” He introduced himself. 

      This is not making any damn sense. They’re identical, and this guy knows his name. Frowning, Finn lets his gaze sweep across his lookalike, trying to gauge if this is some sort of dream. Or nightmare. 

     “Yeah, that’s me...” He pauses, tentatively offering out his hand. “Do you mind me asking who the hell you are?”

THE MAN before him was all too FAMILIAR with Kylo’s cruelty. So the SHARP BACKHAND of a leather glove shouldn’t have been much of a SURPRISE to his insolence. It was proving far more DIFFICULT to put aside his own emotions regarding his  B E T R A Y A L. Because there is a KNEE to his abdomen that follows suit. Kylo reaches a hand up, his FORCE lifting the man back into a standing position before him.

“Would you really trade your LIFE for such an insignificant piece of information ??” Kylo leans in, hovering all too CLOSE to the man. “…tell me.” He FEIGNS calmness. “…where the rebel base is located.”

      Finn clenches his jawline after the backhand to his face, tongue briefly sweeping his lower lip as he inhales a deep breath. That’s soon knocked out of him, however, when he’s kneed in the abdomen and knocked to the ground, a harsh cough passing his lips a moment as he gathers his breath. He’s forced back to his feet with a soft grunt, fingers curling into his palms, but he remains resolute. If this is how he dies, then so be it.

     “Without hesitation.” He answers, not missing a beat. He means it, too. Kylo won’t get what he wants here. “I’m not going to tell you anything. There’s nothing you can do to me to make me betray them.”

The fighter falls to the wayside as Rey marches forward, a little huff of satisfaction leaving her lips as their path is cleared. If only she’d known how to do this as a scavenger, it would have made everything much easier.

“When do you ever piss me off?” she teases, “Except for when you’re, y’know, throwing yourself in the line of fire.”

     “I have never--” He cuts himself off there, because it’s a bold-faced lie and he knows it. So, instead, he just shoots her a charming grin and cants his head to the side. “Okay, fine, you got me there. Still, consider it extra incentive not to.” 

      He steps forward then, moving toward the cave entrance she’s uncovered. “Do you really think we’ll find the artifact here?”

     “That... cannot be your plan?” Finn scoffs, his brows pinching together as he screws up his features. “C’mon, Poe, we wanna do this without getting caught.”
