The American System...
was written by Henry Clay. The centerpiece of his statecraft consisted of three parts.
1. Tariff for protecting and promoting American authority
2. National bank for commerce.
3. Federal subsidies for “Internal improvements” for developing a profitable market for agriculture.
The first railed charter issued to the New Jersey Railroad Company. The railroad, however, was never built.
The Erie Canal was the first water route between New York to the Atlantic Ocean through the Great Lakes.
This is the Cumberland National Road, the first federal highway.
Robert Fulton had the first viable commercial steamboat service.
Noah Webster changed English to the American version we use today, by removing “u”s and inventing words with American influences. He felt a strong need to define an American language and culture.
There was more than just the Industrial Revolution; there was the Transportation Revolution as well. This revolution came about because of the innovations of transportation established during my presidency.
Now to John Deere. He invented the first self-scouring plow which is now an American farm equipment company.
Cyrus McCormick made a mechanical reaper that revolutionized farming. (McCormick Spices).
This is Samuel Morse. He was an American painter and inventor. In 1844, he invented the single wire telegraph system. He was also a co-developer of Morse Code.
Ladies and Gentlemen, here is Eli Whitney.
He was the inventor of interchangeable parts, and the mechanical cotton gin. These are two of his biggest inventions. However, with Whitney’s progress in creations, there was also irony. The irony was that the cotton gin increased the need for slavery, therefore hereby preserving slavery in the United States.
This is Richard Arkwright.
What did he do? He was the father of the British factory system. He also invented the mechanical thread spinner.
Samuel Slater opened up an Industrial Mill in 1790 in Beverly, Massachusetts. It was the first industrial mill in the US, and it produced yarn. With this, the Industrial Revolution was started.
