On The House || Jesse & Ray
“Business is more of the same. Nothin’ to complain about, nothin’ to write home about.” When Jesse raises his glass to drink, Ray brings the cool glass to his lip, pulling back a long sip. It’s the right kind of burning, and when he settles the drink back down, he feels ready to tackle the day. It’s always nice to see Jesse outside of their shared dorm room. Ray likes having him around as much as possible, and not just because it means he can keep an eye on him. Jesse is his flesh and blood, and while their parents are off in No Man’s Land, Ray likes having that little slice of his past hanging around.
Ray brings out a new can of beer when the woman sitting at the end of his bar raises a ration card over her head and beckons over to him. Ray serves it with a smile, glancing around the rest of the bar to make sure everyone looks as happy as they’re going to get. It’s only then that he turns his head back to Jesse, making sure he doesn’t want another drink.
Jesse nods letting his brother do what he needs to for the customers who are actually paying to be there. He takes another drink of his own and it nearly finished with it by the time his brother makes his way back in front of him. He empties the cup before standing. His brother has a business here and Jesse has his own to attend too.
“I’ll be back in later. With a millions of hard earned cards. Maybe I’ll actually pay for a drink.” It’s a nice light joke and Jesse smiles before moving out of the bar.
