This post fell across my IG timeline this morning, and the first sentence in the caption...my sentiments exactly. This picture is amazing in it’s rawness. And the caption gave the background necessary to fully grasp the story within it.

Procrastination has been something I’ve battled since I was in elementary school. But in terms of writing and getting out of my own way when it comes to producing complete works-- my brain is my biggest downfall. It never stops moving. And I’m constantly thinking about creating something. Which wrecks my ability to complete projects of my own.

It’s easy to feel like you’re doing something. To view yourself a certain way, in spite of actual reality. But can you say, that you have truly given your all to whatever that “THING” in your life is. I know I can’t. But I’m aiming to change that.

#UnacceptableBehavior is the title of my short story collection that I’m looking to hopefully publish sometime in the first quarter of 2018.

#UB consists of thirteen stories that will hopefully, provide a better than solid example of both how I write and the subject matters I bounce around from-- in my mind, seamlessly.

The majority of the stories will take place in the JG Universe (shout out to the Marvel + DC brands), which is normally centered around the DC Metropolitan area. With the stories ranging from, “boy meets girl” to “international assassins” to “a new age gigolo”. 

I finished the first round of edits a couple months ago. Now it’s on to the formatting and a second pass with the red pen. Then showtime! I hope you all take the ride with me.

Thank goodness for smartphones. Because the days of keeping up with notepad(s), is something I do not wish to be forced back into lol. I’m a mobile and fluid creator, so the ability to write at any moment is huge for me. Can we give it up one good time for Evernote!

For as long as I can remember, I have been a writer-- dating back to second grade. Oddly enough the form that I started with initially (storytelling), is where I currently find myself.

Over a period of time spanning a decade+, I honed my creative energy through my pen as a poet (writing, publishing indiv. works, performing). But over the course of the last three or so years, I’ve tried my hand at fiction writing. Eventually moving on to short stories over the last two or so years and I haven’t looked back since.

As a poet, my material runs the gamut from sex and relationships to social commentary and wordplay for the sake of.

With my fiction writing however, I own real estate in a lane I like to refer to as dramady (drama + comedy). FWIW, I do not claim to have coined that phrase, unless it does not exist outside of my use-- in which case, I own the trademark (lol). 

The key constant in my writing regardless of genre/type, is the fact that I like for my words, characters, and scenes to be very relatable. Aiming to have anyone who gives my work a chance, come away feeling as though they stepped into whatever backdrop was laid. 

I feed off of my surroundings and the energy they possess. And hopefully when you look over some of my work, you will feel the same.
