This prob sounds so stupid: but the fact I’ve never been catcalled nor stared at the gym. Or gotten weird compliments from people just shows how ugly I actually am. Like if I don’t have strangers saying things like that to me, how is anyone gonna say to me. If I can’t even get a dude to look at me, why do people even let me believe I’m attractive. I’m not. Not even close. No body calls me pretty and it sucks

Okay, so I know what you mean. I use to think this way as well. And to be honest, sometimes I still do. I don’t think I’m conventionally attractive, I have plenty of issues with how I look, etc. But then again, I’ve met some people I have found… fucking STUNNING, gorgeous, like so beautiful, and yet, they think the same thing about their body as me. They think they’re not beautiful. And it’s like, if only you could see yourself from my eyes… Now, not everyone I’ve met who has though that way about themselves has been that beautiful to me, but then again, not every girl that’s catcalled, or conventionally beautiful has looked that amazing to me either. Also, I don’t know about you, but every person I fell in love with, I fell in love with them because they were a funny person with a good soul, because that’s what I need. You will be what someone needs you to be, even if you’re not everyone’s cup of tea.

I used to also think exactly like that. Like, everything you said is EXACTLY how I felt in high school, word for word, and it’s very normal to go through a stage of insecurity at some point. Sometimes, it’s hard because you think that you’re alone in those feelings, but you aren’t. You think that it’s never gonna happen, no one will ever validate you, and even if people keep telling you it will happen eventually, it sounds like a bunch of bs. But since I’ve gone past that stage, I’m here to tell you it isn’t bs. It WILL happen eventually, and as cliché as it sounds: things click into place the moment you stop caring. In my case, it took roommate drama to distract my mind from my own insecurities. And once you’re validated once, a few times, you’ll never need it again because you’ll gain the confidence and it’ll show in how you carry yourself. I promise you, a time will come when you’ll be able to look in the mirror with no doubt in your mind.
