@thekokirisage-blog
It was a shame to see that he was too late to save this sage as well, but nothing could be done about it. There was no point in dwelling on it, but he’ll do what he can to help this sage. Just like he did with the Sage of Earth.
"Sorry if I’m late," He smiled sheepishly, hoping the sage was not upset or anything of the like if he took too long. However, the smile that Fado wore on his face didn’t appear anything like the sort. So he stood there calmly while the sage spoke. It was a little shocking to know that this sage was only a child. He expected someone older, but then it does not matter how old or young you are. As long as one knew the responsibility of a sage, then things should turn out alright. After all, this sage appeared to be a lot more mature than he was.
"Hello, Fado," He pulled out the Wind Waker and bowed his head a little out of respect. "The King of Red Lions brought me here. I’m supposed to learn a song from you, right?"
Late was an understatement but it was not the child's fault, was it anyone's really. Time had to take it's course & the sage had been willing to wait. It was the duty he was given.
" No worries!"
Cue a smile that did not indicate any negative feelings, though it rarely ever did. With a nod, a few here & there is given when they speak. For a moment the smile on his face softens into one that held meanings that would be unknown to the young hero. Hearing bout the king of red lions made the now deceased sage think of when him & Laruto would play songs for the King. Of their time before death had grabbed hold of them.
'Ah ! Yes, it's time for that isn't it?"
Pausing, he lets his violin & bow appear with only a wave of his hand as if it had always been there.
" The Wind God's Aria, are you ready? "
will you save us
Glancing down to see the wind waker & only then does his smile resume it's usual cheerfulness. & the spirit places the bow atop his violin which is tucked under his chin. How surreal that it was time for the Hero to be here, not his Link but Link all the same.
Composure was rightfully kept, crimson never leaving view of the child. News would have to be taken to the other Sage if it had not already. The power to repel evil would need to be protected now more than ever, especially if the small tickle in the back of Sheik’s mind and the warning of the Gods was something for him to go by. For now peace was within the land, making it so that the Hero Spirit was not essentially needed, but how long that would last was beyond Sheik’s comfort level. For now he wanted to ensure that everyone else remained feeling safe. He would handle the reset within the comfort of shadows, when such was truly needed.
The only good thing he could think of in concerns to Link’s passing was that it meant Hyrule may not be within need of him for some time. Hardly a fair arrangement but, fate knew no such thing. Only the justice to keep balance in the kingdom. One will eventually find a way to break the cycle, but Sheik did not think it would be within his lifetime, and consequently not within his Link’s either. It made his heart feel heavy, the more his mind circled around that. A slight hesitation was caused by it in his playing, his own eyes eventually falling shut as skilled fingers picked up his place in the melody, a slight sense of nostalgia striking through from the last time which he had heard the former Sage play through to reach her comrade.
As they played the song that held memories to them both of them, there is a momentary slowness. A hesitation that can be heard in the music that emitted from their instrument. None to which either would probably admit to. & although the sage had a smile gracing his features his thoughts wandered away to Link. To what this meant for Hyrule. Did that mean the land was not in need for him? & in that instance a frown tugs at his lips but he does not falter. not now, he does not grieve nor does he feel scorned. It was not his place to do so. Instead glancing at the Sheikah, the burden was theirs to hold in the shadows. Maybe later he would ask his companion if they would be okay.
Continuing, steadily his hand holds onto the bow & moves it across the strings. Chin more purposely pressed against the edge of his instrument. As if to remind him that he is the Sage, who must now repel evil till the new hero would come. One could only hope they do not suffer the same fate as his friend.
But was it not preordained fate that they did?

❝ For me? ❞
{ A huge smile stretched across her features as she viewed the gift that was presented to her. }
❝ Oooo, tell me, tell me! ❞
{ She jumped around, eager to find out the symbolism of the newly received gift. }
If it is possible his cat like smile only widens, as if her general response was enough to give the spirit happiness that had always been manufactured before.
"Well ! It's been throughout the years-- it's symbolizes purity ! & innocence. & we musn't forget patience. "
& this time the curve on his lips softens but still has it's friendly light.
" I thought of you."
As he thought of the rest of his brother & sisters. Lost by the passages of time.
He’s being too close again! The boy’s mischievous attacks left Pyrrha to jump back again. And he looks so happy while he was doing it too! That smile of his seemed so full of life and happiness… even though he was clearly a ghost. How else was he able to run his face though her part of the way? He was a ghost. Through him, Pyrrha now knows that ghosts do indeed exist. But again, look at how happy he looks! His smile was almost infectious! Lively, even! Would it be a crime to remind the boy about personal space?
Pyrrha would feel conflicted from being scared out of her mind or idly thinking that he was a cute ghost child… if he didn’t pass his tiny little arm through her face. Yep, she’s real scared now.
"Eeeeek! Nooooo!" she exclaimed, jumping a bit further than the last few times she jumped. "Y-You don’t want to possess my body, Sir Ghost! My body’s really bad for possessing! It’s bad luck!" Ignoring the fact that the ghost was a young boy and Pyrrha was, technically, a grown woman. But perhaps looks can be deceiving here.
Was it out of fear that the stranger said this? Did she really think that he was going to posses it? The deceased sage closed the distance that the woman constantly trid to have between them but this time he did not shove another hand through her. Merely allowing his usual cheshire smile to be his only reaction. Muffling the small laughter that desired to bubble out & past his lips.
" You're scared? ”
Words soaked in curiosity, tilting head to the side. & for a moment though it was barely passing he felt bad. Only because he was sure that Saria would scold him for doing this. His expression falters at the sudden marry. & though his hues are not seen it's his smile that momentarily loses it's glow before it's brighter than before. As if it never happened.
" But any body is good ! "
Continuing the joke if only halfheartedly.
"…a-ah!"
She was caught off guard for a moment, before suddenly seeing a boy’s face suddenly pressing against her own. Pressed through her own to be exact. So instinctively she jumped, a clear sign of her being startled. She had so many questions now! Firstly, where did this boy come from? How did she not see him coming before? How did his face press enough so that it partially went through her? Why was he going to possess her!? She’s bad for possessing!
But all of those questions in her head weren’t the one that Pyrrha actually asked in her bewilderment.
"Wh-What was that for?”
It had been a long while since the Kokiri child had been so vastly amused. Deciding that she would be the one his spirit would linger upon. Maybe just maybe he'd gather a few laughs. With his usual smile that hid any other feelings aside from happiness, as she jumped away he closed the distance once more. Face just only inches away from her own.
This was reminiscent to the days of when he was alive, of when he played with the Kokiri children. Perhaps even Mado would have given him a thumbs up in appreciation.
" But-- But ! "
Passes a small arm through her face out of jest.
" I need a booooody to call my own ! "
Whether or not this spirit was actually there, she did not know, so she decided to pretend he was unable to be seen as he voiced his wonders, not until she was basically right in front of him, and trying to stare past.
Seconds passed, and she just kept looking through him before she brought up her hand, and stuck it through the other.
“Ah, so you are here! I thought so, Mr. Ghost.”
The sage spirit honestly believed that he was left unseen as he stared at the girl in front of him until her hand went through him. Oh ! She had known he was there all along. With an open mouthed grin directed at the stranger, expression filled with excitement as small brows raise.
" You can see me ! "
Pauses.
" Is that how you greet great spirit sages?"
There was an ache beyond what his words would be able to express. Sheikah or not, loss could leave one’s throat blocked off and voices mute. Sheik never had the chance to release any emotion when dealing with the passing of… Anyone, frankly, during the seven years of Hell or afterward. He did not even get the chance to shed the emotion which Link deserved. That he had earned as Sheik’s closest bond outside of the Princess. Without a doubt, Fado understood that, or at least had an idea – his expression said that much. The normally stainless crimson hues were marked with their own form of sadness, but he would not lower them. He held his head high – just as Link attempted to do, despite the curveballs faith threw at him.
The offer was tempting, and he thought little reason not to. The song they had crafted passed his mind first, but without the ocarina it would be forever incomplete. There was something better that the two here could play, that he hoped, wherever his spirit was now, the Hero would hear. “Yes… As do shadows… But may we see his spirit again… By passing him on, to have a safe journey to his next life… Into legend…” and with that decision his hand reached behind himself, taking hold of the ancient instrument and cradling it against himself. “You know her song, yes…?”
Turning away, only in that moment do lids part to show his azure hues similar to that of his race. Filled with grief as he picks up his instrument & bow that are not too far, his keepsake & the only items he'll ever need within his life span. Upon grabbing the with small hands, his lids revert back to their closed & curved state. Face remaining somber, inching the other. Not only is he swarmed with the loss of Link but Saria too. Neither of them destined for this world it would seem. Resting his chin onto the edge of the violin, arching his body as notes of her song filled his head-- would he do the song justice?
"As if it were my own."
A soft murmur, a smile smile appearing.
"Follow my lead, eh?"
& without a second to be spared, the hand that held his simple bow lifted. Placing it atop of his instrument, playing each note without a pause. Making sure not to go too fast paced instead keeping it in a reasonable speed to which his shadow companion could follow. Though he never said it outloud he wonder if it would be necessarily a good thing if Link's spirit went onto & passed to his next life. Wouldn't that be s a d ? To forever continue his path of grief.
"…?" Ears lifted to the sound of his name being called within the cave. At first, he thought he was hearing things due to the harsh winds that were once drowning out all other sounds, as his ears were still ringing a little, but his ears were not playing tricks on him. He indeed heard someone call his name and there appeared to be a very faint … Transparent boy?
It clicked in his mind just what might the boy be, as he had already seen someone similar back at the entrance of the Earth Temple. However, he was not very presentable, with his hair flying in all different directions due to the winds, and he was covered in a bit of dust after crushing the large stone octorok gust-blower. So he immediately dusts himself off a tad, and messed with his hair so he didn’t look like a complete mess. It wasn’t much, but at least there was some effort.
"Uh… Yeah! That would be me!" He pipes up. "Are you…?" Link looks towards the boy, hoping he’d know he was asking if he was speaking to the sage of the temple.
This was not his friend, though they bore similarities. As much as Fado lamented over Link's death this was another, just like the legend spoke of. That the hero would appear in their time of need. Features soften but his smile remains all the same. Regardless was here, did that mean he did not need to play songs anymore? Hovering near, ghostly clothes flutter though they did not need to.
"I've been waiting ! "
As if years..centuries were not all that long. But regardless it was time for an introduction.
"I am Fado of the Kokiri tribe. I know I appear to you as a child, but the eyes can often deceive. I am a most esteemed sage ! "
The spirit informs the hero, not the hero of time but perhaps of the wind. At last him & Laruto may rest in peace, yet the sage remained. It would be some time before they could pass. Before he could join his people & no longer be struck with grief or regret.
"You say that… as a sage. But would you feel the same way about your fate as a friend?" Daphnes asked, his tone quieting. "You, Laruto, and I… we spent many an hour together before all this. Before Hyrule’s tragic fate. It was not meant to end this way, Fado." His voice wavered, choking back emotion.
"We cannot regret what has passed, dear king."
Of course this though said with ease was not followed through, Fado had regretted his inaction in being unable to prevent his own death. There was a time where he had questioned their preordained fates, but nonetheless he came to accept it. With a smile that did not waver, he hovered near so that perhaps the king would be able to see him. To see that he did not mind.
"We are glad for being able to meet you. For you to be our conductor & for you efforts, do not mourn. In the next world if we pass we will be able to see a new Hyrule that surpasses the tragic one."
draconicsovereign:
"Had I been able to protect you and Laruto from Ganon’s wrath, you would not be in the state you are now." Daphnes allowed his shoulders to slump, as if a mountain weighed down upon them.
"You did not fail anyone, Fado. You and Laruto did all that you could to preserve Evil’s Bane. But I failed to guard the both of you from from his vile hand. I should have known Ganon would commit such an unforgivable act."
The spirit cants his head downward, respectful & reserved. Only used when around the King who know lamented with him & Laruto. His sage companion did not mind, knowing that they had other prospects for them. Still had things to do regardless of their current appearance.
"We are sages, our duty is to protect both Hyrule & the sacred realm. We are at your disposal ! It's fine our lives though taken still live on, our deeds remain unfinished..surely we will thrive.."
woebringer
A mischievous little kokiri spirit, who longed to touch but was not given the ability to do so. But alas he at least was able to be seen, hovering near the female & pressing his cherubic face against her own. A game to amuse him, for he had time to pass.
"Look ! Look ! ---- I'm going to possess you ! "
A joke, heard in his tone & the bright expression on his face. His face had partially went through her. A spirit through & through.
Stories were easy to relay to those that had limited knowledge of the world. From his life as a child of the forest to taking on the role of a Sage as those whom sealed Ganondorf lessened in power, and had to move on to the Sacred Realm. Such was the cycle, one which he knew the rest of the spirits associated with this generation’s sacred three. One day they would find a way to break the curse upon their souls, but Sheik did not want to think of the consequences for it. Right then, he wished that Fado did know, so he would not have to say it.
“If only it were that simple… This is not a ‘mission’ he will be returning from.” the words, he found, were harder to say than he thought they would be. His throat even began to grow dry, which reflected in his voice. “He has passed… His spirit… Lingers still, but his body is no more. You will be waiting… A very long time.”
& there it is, a falter in his expression. A sign of loss, of defeat. There will never be a time to speak to his friend. To the boy turned hero, for they have gone into a world not of his own; not yet at least. With a nod his features continue to remain halfhearted. The grief though unseen in hidden hues but instead is notable in the smile that doesn't reach his eyes. Was this their fate? But now was not the time to mourn, not yet. Surely he could do one last thing for his friend, for the friend that now lingered behind as if not allowed to mingle with the goddesses that allowed this despite his title. link didn't even know that Saria is gone, that I am now the Sage of this weakening forest.
"...We kokiri..live for a long time.."
The words come out hesitant, soaked in sorrow.
"It's fine, it's fine. Mm !" Believe, smile ! Now, now.
"..Let's play a song, yes? For him, as a goodbye."
But isn't Sheik more sad than he?
xaryll
A flower is presented to the other, though it is merely a manifestation of his deteriorating spirit. It's a sign of acceptance & friendship, for this child was the new hero's beloved sister.
"This is for you ! It has a meaning, would you like to know it? hm ? "
conductor-of-winds
The spirit's appearance is almost non-existent but just enough to be seen albeit it was translucent. It did not matter though, hands hold his tools which allows him the ability to play songs of prayers. Prayers for his salvation, for the former lands undersea. But most of all for the hero that had not appeared. if only the hero of time-- if only l i n k was here..It was as if the Gods wanted to play with him, a tuft of flaxen hair was seen from the distance, fingers gripping his instrument tightly. A smile too wide, a smile filled with relief unparalleled to happiness.
"...L i n k ?"
mokuzxi
Tiny feet scurry, trying not to trip over the foliage that the dense forest was made up of. Spotting a familiar female, a girl who was dear to Fado. But was she not dear to every Kokiri child? Saria was someone that he aspired to be but right now he just wanted someone to hide behind.
"Saria ! Saria ! "
Wheezes a bit. Or a lot.
"Hide me ! Mido is mad at me ! "
Not elaborating that he threw rocks at the other since they bad mouthed their friend...Link.
linguistiqe
Leaving the temple again, for who wanted to stay at a place filled with lonesome feelings? Which only reminded the youthful sage about his previous predecessor, the dead hero & the race of which no longer was. Instead he'd visit the hylians ! To the lands in which his friend walked, to the place that did not need the sages. Playing a tune on his violin, with a delighted grin tugged at his lips.
"Do you believe in the tunes of those long gone, past over--?"
