I’m leaving gameofchaos because quite frankly I have no other choice. I have been asking for help and nothing has been done and to be honest, this roleplay has made me feel like shit. I’ve loved roleplaying with most of you but I have to put myself first.
The main reason (there are many) for leaving is anon hate. I have been receiving anon hate for weeks from two or three players from this role play group. One I had proof off, including IP addresses from the player that shall not be named because there is literally no point. Both her and her sibling had said that she couldn’t get onto my blog because I put up a freehostedscripts ip blocker on for the ip address i got from superhitcounters. They were not able to get onto my blog but despite all of this evidence, the admins are still adamant that she was not the person to send anon hate.
This is where it gets a little tough for me. I’ve been role playing with one of the admins in a different fandom for a while and I love her to bits. She is welcoming and friendly and is the most active admin on here and quite frankly, her time is wasted in this role play. With admins that are on constantly on hiatus or one that is unapproachable and hostile to players which I have had first hand experience of this. Jodie and Chloe are not good admins. Chloe is rarely on and when she is, she creates an uncomfortable atmosphere and when concerns are brought up, I was told to just deal with it. She also had a prejudice against my original character for petty reasons. Her reasons where this, my face claim and hers where in cinderella together and though I expressly told her that I had no intention of doing anything romantic with any characters. I’m not sure if anyone noticed, but I played my character as asexual as there is a lack of representation but you all just took that as childish or innocent or naive which is incredibly offence for an asexual person, still struggling.
I’ve been involved with a lot of role play groups and the key to happy members and activity is events. In the five weeks that I have been a member of this role play group, there has been no events and one task that was vague and nothing really to do with the writing of a character. It felt like a starter event for a role play that has just started, not one that’s been running for a few months. I came to the admins with two ideas and were shot down by Jodie and Chloe. I understand that you may not have liked it but to rudely shut down a player is not right. As admins you have a responsibility to be welcoming and create a friendly and safe place for role players to come to.
I am going to take a moment and apologize for this rant but I needs to be said. I want this role play to continue but I do not think it can while you disregard and favourite other players and put your needs above everyone else. That is what indie role playing is for.
Now for my character. She had so much potential with this role play, I had a lot of plots planned and open starters (both gifs and paras posted) but with zero replies. It was plots that hadn’t been done before and focused on the plot of the roleplay and character development but because it was nothing to do with a ship, they were ignored. I brought this up to the admins and they said they tried but posting in the ooc blog that we need to reply to stuff is half arsed. Also to hear back from one of the admins as they basically said that its okay if players ignore starters. No, its not. Not for a group role play.
Plot devices. A common occurrence in this role play group. When I have asked for plotting, I was told yes by a player but only if they could use it to hate on another character that was married to their characters love interest or a plot to further his ship with said character. I don’t mind helping plots move along but to be denied out right because I wanted something that only focuses on my character and one of theirs is wrong.
Medieval and royal role play groups like this one has to have a hierarchy that the characters must respect. A bastard born can not command armies of a king and a queen can no openly have an affair with a king otherwise her head will be on a spike. To the character that had the afair (also the onewith the plot device) when your characters king sends you away or imprisons your character for trying to kill them, you can not run to their lover/wife/ally and expect to have a full pardon. Also low borns can not talk to high borns in a disrespectful way and this has nothing to do with kissing the characters feet. It has to do with basic respect and acknowledgement of the time and setting you are in.
The whole role play group is at a stand still. No one is doing anything about plot and the admins do not care about this because they are getting their ship fix which has been the results of players leaving and threads being dropped. You can not have an role play group solely based on ships, it has to have substance and I’m sorry if that is harsh but role play groups that solely concentrate on ships do not last past a year.
With concerns being ignored, I feel that there is no room for anyone outside this role play because ships have already been established and every other character is over looked. Jodie, the admin, has put Theon Greyjoy the top of their most wanted because one of her characters was/is in love with him. You shouldn’t do that. You should be a group that welcomes every character and not just ones to further you love interests/romantic plot points. Game of Thrones/A Song Of Ice and Fire series is not romantic. The main plot is politics and warfare and who the noble houses are at each others throats not in each others beds.
I’m sorry to leave because out of three admins, you have one really great one but she is wasted on this role play. I don’t feel safe or welcomed in this group and I feel pushed out but thankfully I have found a place with active admins and a place where they find a place for every character, including original characters and not in a romantic way. I will be turning my anonymous off because quite frankly, I am sick to death of getting anon hate because my character doesn’t stand idley by, waiting to be used as a plot point. I wish everyone the best but anon hate needs to be stopped and admins, you all need to get on more and stop with false promises. Good luck to everyone, even the players that have been hostile. You guys should have a place where its active and you don’t have to wait around.
My decision to leave also comes for the way admins have behaved today. I have been close with the player who was Renly and was at work during this post but was harassed for a good hour and a half by Chloe, the admin, even after I had said I was in work multiple times. Still, she did not stop. She was the admin who had hated my original character because of the face claim and had brought this issue up with seethebanners, calling me a liar to this mun. Little did she know, this is my twin sister and she had seen every conversation I had with both her and Jodie (who had brought up Chloe’s reasons for singling me out and hostile and unfriendly attitude both in character and out of character). It was because of this harassment that my shift was cut short at work because my phone kept buzzing so not only has this been a toll on my emotional state, but it has now affected my work and financial situation.
