The new Odyssey adaptation has inevitably gotten people talking about a Muppet version of it, and they’re frequently suggesting Kermit as Odysseus, Miss Piggy as Penelope.

I’m sorry but that’s thinking way too small, hear me out:

We need to have Miss Piggy as Odysseus, and Kermit as Penelope.

Think about it… who’s the more fickle, prideful, warlike one in that relationship? Who is absolutely ready to go ham, at a moment’s notice?

Inside BADI Magazine - Community Interviews

After the turn of the century, gay men started to model for BADI magazine. While most would model under a pseudonym, magazine editors also sought to interview and profile openly gay members of the community.

This interview, from the September 2002 issue of BADI, interviews a gay couple: illustrator KeiCHANG and his boyfriend, a musician going by Taiiku Cuts. The interview poses some of the typical questions -- "How did you know you were gay?", "Have you come out to your parents?" The answers by Kei and his boyfriend are honest and thoughtful.

Kei was notable at the time for having an accepting mother, and she was interviewed too by the magazine. When asked about her thoughts when Kei first came out to her, she said "It didn't really shock me... however, I did feel a bit sad that he would not get married, start a family, and have children like everyone else. Still, I think it's better to live your life in a way that you won't regret." She also noted that after Kei came out, he would talk about his love life and she better understood him.

Positive and honest portrayals of gay men living their lives were valuable during this period, when societal understanding and acceptance of gay people was not especially high.
