The Intro
Writing to me is a process where you can talk about anything you want to as long as your points are valid and everything you say is credible. You have to really understand the process and know how writing is, and how it works. The first draft will not always be the best, hardly ever will it be, but as you continue onto your other papers, you begin to fix the mistakes and understand what to fix. Writing to me is very important and i enjoy doing the task because I feel liberated to say what i want, speak my mind to my audience, and explain anything in my way. I like the idea of giving the papers my identity and letting the audience really understand who wrote the paper. This is what makes me fall in love with writing, that people will not always understand you, but when you find those who do, it is a great feeling that you can connect with someone in some way. Coming out of high school, you’re not always prepared to write such good papers, you still need guidance and help for writing papers. This is why I believe that freshmen are required to take English classes in their first year, they should be able to be prepared to write at a higher levels because you are now in college and should have higher standards to how you write.
The Blogs
For my blog posts, many were good and some were ok. My most favorite blog was Blog Post #7, where we talk about our favorite book and talk about whether we like reading or not. Talking about my favorite book made me reflect on my favorite role model, Coach John Wooden. Former UCLA Basketball coach who had won many titles and has written plenty of books with knowledge to those who aspire in being leaders. I look up to people like him because they show me what leadership is about, and how a team works to become a unit. He always talked about how you should never put yourself first, your teammate always come before you. So what you do should be to make his job easier, whether your defense is on point or getting back for another companion. He really is a great inspiration and im thankful Prof. Macias let us write about that. As for my least favorite blog post, that is Blog Post #1 in Eng 106B. We talked about our goals for the quarter, I wrote too little and some of things didn’t become true. I didn’t get along with all my classmates and didn’t really talk to anyone else besides the same people. I would of course love to add and talk about other things.

The Essay
I chose to write about my Paper #5, reason why is because it is the reflection of everything I have worked towards since the beginning of Eng 105B. All the times I was frustrating when not knowing how to cite correctly, expanding my ideas to really get into depth with the details and explain everything. However, I also chose to write about this because there was plenty good as there was bad, the editing that was done on this paper was quite a bit. When I turned it in, I wasn’t very confident, I knew i had included good points but didn’t really back them up with sufficient detail. I knew the paper was missing tons of work, including its citing page, and minor organizational fixtures that needed to be done. Prof. Macias was great in telling me what was good and what was bad about it, really letting my paper become a great one. Prof helped me expand on the citing and go on to find the original sources for the points I was giving, really expanding on what I needed to say with more research. So really not much was done but the citing, which one of my many weaknesses when beginning this course. Now that I am almost done, I realize that I have grown as a writer and have learned how write proper works cited page, that is of course necessary in every piece of paper.

The Reflection
The writing process is a simple yet difficult one. I will describe it as a harder than it sounds process, once you begin to write, the process then becomes much easier because you want to write all your ideas down and get everything you’re thinking about written down as soon as possible before the ideas fade. Prof. Macias helped me that format and organization are really important when writing. How to organize your paper is key because this way your audience is not lost when they are reading your paper and clearly understand what you are trying to tell them in your paper. Macias has also taught me that citing is another important factor when it comes to writing your paper. Of course, these are things that were taught since Middle School, and yes I did know what they were but didn’t understand until Prof. came along and helped me cite better and know what was the original source to cite. As for reading, when you are reading you must definitely understand what you’re reading because if not you will be going in circles and not understand what you’re reading, nonetheless the concept it is trying to give you. Reading in English 105/106B with Prof. Macias really helped to understand what needs to be annotated, what was important and what wasn’t. I became accustomed to reading lengthy articles, understanding what I was reading became very important because we always talked about the pieces in class. Notes were crucial to the reading process, as previously stated, annotating came in to play a big role to what I was reading. Taking notes down and highlighting let me go back and reflect to what the reading was about, helped me really comprehend what the author was trying to tell me in his words. Being a freshman in English 105/106B was a great experience. Meeting new people who were on the same page as me, getting to know foreign classmates, something I have never experienced before, and meeting a great professor who taught me so many things. I learned many new great things because of the people around, the people I was surrounded by kept pushing to write better and become a better writer overall. Within the span of September-March, my writing significantly improved in due time. Constantly learning new things to apply to my writing, how I can revise and edit, how to include concrete ideas that made my point stronger, everything that is required to construct a good paper. The details that are needed to write a paper are very important, just like finding someone who can revise your paper. The person has to be someone who can give you an honest opinion and really help your paper instead leaving it the same. I can honestly say that my experience in this class has been but nothing but negative, just kidding. It’s been absolutely fantastic, I cannot complain about nothing in this class. The instructor was phenomenal, the TA’s were just as great, the students you are with are also just as great. The environment you’re in when taking this class is nothing but positive, you are always thinking and writing, something that is obviously done in English class, however with Macias, you write about video games. How cool is that? Prof has helped me grow and mature as a writer, I am now more confident in what I write, and know when I write, what I need to do. The process is crucial, and everyone must understand that. Macias really helps with helping you understand what is important and what isn’t, how to abide by your thesis and stick to that.
