Last world cup, which was enough of a mess for being in Russia (looking back, I’m more than kinda ashamed of enjoying a world cup there), we all enjoyed making daddy memes about Gareth Southgate. Today, Southgate’s boys beat Iran 6–2 after deciding not to wear the One Love armbands and I wanted to say that the whole squad + Southgate are embarrassments and hypocrites for being in Qatar. I hope they lose and I hope their participation in this World Cup damages their careers. Maybe someone will @ me about legal/contractual specifics but the OneLove armband farce confirms that they’ll take a stand as long as it has literally no consequences. It’s humiliating that they’re in Qatar. I hope they get knocked out ASAP and that everyone who goes to watch them has a really crap time. I’m tagging this like I tagged all the old posts because I want it to come up if anyone searches for the old memes and commentary.
