DRÖM SESSIONS: AINO-MAIJA

We’re super duper excited to get in touch with Finnish illustrator/designer – Aino-Maija Mestola for our latest dröm sessions! Many of you might find her work and illustrations familiar probably because you’ve seen them before when you set foot in Marimekko stores! Aino-Maija has got to be amongst our favourite illustrators/designers working with Marimekko! We personally have her Pikku Huhuli tote bag and the Vatruska fabric which we made into a skirt.

We typically identify Aino-Maija with her bright and colourful works, but in this dröm sessions, we go a bit deeper and beyond just her colour and bright illustrations and explore more of what makes Aino-Maija who she is today as a creative individual.

We’ve also had loads of fun bringing Ebony around to some of our favourite places in Singapore! Totally loved how she captured snaphots of SG through her eye! We brought her to Dakota Crescent which sadly will be torn down next year. We also visited the colourful Perenakan shophouses in Joo Chiat. And of course we had to pop by our local Hawker Centres for local food, we went to Maxwell and also ABC Market at Queensway! Ebony fell in love with all the colorful Melamine foodware we were using that she bought some back some and created her own version!

DRÖM CLASS: EVERYDAY CANOE & USUALLY USUAL

26 Sept (Sat) 2015 • 10am to 12.30pm at the little dröm store (Singapore)

Learn how to hand carve your own wooden scoop + Learn about hand brewed coffee.

Ever wondered how it would feel to make something out of wood? Savour a slow Saturday morning of woodcarving with Everyday Canoe, sipping fresh hand brewed coffee by Usually Usual in this 2.5hr workshop.

You will be guided on how a piece of salvaged wood can be given a wonderful second life, through the magic of patience, time and good ol’ working with your very own hands!

Participants will leave with their very own handcarved wooden scoop finished with a natural foodsafe coating, ready for dishing out coffee beans or tea leaves.

In this 3-hour workshop, you will learn how to use the traditional dip nib pen in a modern context. Students will be equipped with fundamentals of letterforms which will give them a head start in creating their own style of calligraphy.
