Orchid Bloom

I painted this soon after someone stole my mother’s orchid flowers off the plant. She had the plant for so long, just waiting for it bloom, and when it finally did, well … :( It was really disappointing for her. I drew these orchids from her remaining plants. They are not as lovely as the blooms that were stolen, but at least she has these flowers.

This is the best tassel I've made and I'm keeping this bookmark for me. ^^ It's so bright and happy. Don't worry, I'm making some similar ones soon. :) The Best of All Possible Worlds is a novel by Karen Lord, a Caribbean author of speculative fiction. This book is so amazing and I totally recommend it. If you're in Trinidad, you can head on to The Paper Based Bookshop at Normandie Hotel and pick up a copy. I'm so vexed that my copy has a random pen mark on it. Instead of hair, this dryad has the colourful tropical landscape growing from her head.
