Yes, regular online and in-person training that includes, but is not limited to Cyber Bullying, bullying in general, PBIS (Positive Behavior Intervention Supports), Charter Safe training for CPR, first aid, bullying, mental health, diabetes, epilepsy, etc.

In person, by phone, email, newsletters, conferences, Remind App, Class Dojo App, and our online website

How does your school handle rewarding and disciplining students?
Character Education program called Harper For Kids: Pyramid of Success, in class and school-wide incentives around the Pyramid of Success, PBIS (Positive Behavior Intervention and Support), school-wide Success Tickets that focus on the traits, In-class, group and individual, points through dojo, color chart, scholar dollars, etc.
School-wide discipline done through "reminder slips" that focus on the character traits, referrals, and finally, suspensions/expulsions if needed (clearly, we try not to get this far if possible), In-class discipline using a "merit/demerit system"

We use Securly and Hapara to monitor student internet activity at school

No cellphone use during school hours
Every student, grade 1st-8th have 1:1 Chromebooks

Restorative Circles to build trust among individuals and the community

Is it effective? What do you like about it?
I LOVE this strategy-- we use it proactively and reactively for mediation among staff and students
Do you see any new issues arise as a result?
Mental Health is certainly a heightened need at this moment. The discussion of suicide has crossed my desk too many times of the last 5 years in administration. And the staff are not equipped to deal with most of the cases. This is where I'd put money if we had it- mental health support and training.

"Peace Path," restorative justice, and mediation skills taught to staff, students, and parents
Threat Assessment team trained
Sandy Hook Promise "Start with Hello" Training for the students
Other school wide anti-bullying assemblies in the works
Is it effective? What do you like about it?
I LOVE this strategy-- we use it proactively and reactively for mediation among staff and students. This has saved so many concerns that have come up.

So far only positive results

Active Shooter Training put on by the police department and FBI for administrators
