This striking detail depicts the Devil in papal attire, with horns, webbed wings, and talons, distributing papal bulls of indulgence. Created in Bohemia during the Hussite movement, this sharp anti-clerical satire critiques the corrupt Catholic practice of selling the forgiveness of sins.
