After a short while the kid returns. Sorrel is now wearing a backpack (which is also shaped like a shark) from wich you can kinda see his plushie looking out. He's still smiling happily. "My Mama wasn't there but the nice Mr. Officer said I could stay with you!! Oh! and he wants me to tell you that they're looking for my aunt now :] "

“... Right.”

He didnt trust it. No, if the aunt wasnt often contacted by the parents— then there must be a full reason, they couldnt just call her now without background now, can they? She cohld arm the kid, afterall. Hed not tolerate that. But now... He needed to focus on the kid ahead of him. A sigh escaped his lips as he ruffled the kids hair and handed him his hand so Sorrel could take it and both could make their way to Daryans car so Daryan could take the kid to his house for the night. Daryan was— however— too focused on the danger the aunt could possibly be to the kid. Who knows? She could use the kid for anything and that didnt really please the man.

Sorrel's face absolutely lights up at the mention of staying the night. "Ohhh like a sleepover?? I never had a sleepover before!! One second, I'll go ask my Mama and then I'll pack my backpack! It'll be sooo fun!!" Sorrel turns and runs back towards the house

daryan isnt even capable of holding the kid back before it runs to inside the crime scene. ‘shit.’ he could only think as he stood frozen in the place. Although.. by now, they must have taken the bodies out of the house already to get the autopsy reports— so the kid wouldnt.. get scared and cry, so that was ATLEAST something, he thought ofcourse. So now he just... Probably needed to wait and stand there, seeing how long itd take the kid to return— his thoughts did end up in thinking how cute the kid honestly was, it reminded him.of his younger siblings, such shame they werent closer anymore, but he disgressed about it. He needed to focus on taking care of the Sorrel now, isnt it?

"Ohh that's such a cool name! It's nice to meet you, Daryan" Sorrel jumps up and down a little while still smiling.

"Uhh family? I have an aunt but she never visits anymore since she started living in the sea. Uh, I think that's what my papa meant, he said it weird" Sorrel looks a little to the side in thought. What he seems to mean was 'sleeping with the fishes' but he doesn't seem to know what that means. "Are you gonna call her? I don't think Mama and Papa would like that, the three were always yelling at each other"

“...” that made everything harder for Daryan. He had to take a deep breath before standing up and ruffling his weird looking hair and thinking real hard. He looked around, then at the kid once again, he couldnt leave the kid with just anyone, not when apparently his aunt and parents always argued and shit. ... Maybe hed be able to take the kid himself to his own house, atleast for the night.

“... Would you wanna spend the night with me today?” he questioned with a raised eyebrow. He didnt want to force the kid— but he really had no else option at all.
