When I was younger I used to live out of town, so I took the school bus. I only took the bus my kindergarten year before we moved in town.
One day I really didn’t want to school, I said that there was going to be a fire drill that day. (I hated how loud the fire alarms were. People thought I had this bad experience with like a house fire or something. Nope. Just hated how loud they were.)
My mom just shrugged it off and took me to the bus stop.
Later that morning my mom gets a call saying that I refused to get off the bus that morning. (My mom wasn’t surprised because I put up a fight that morning.)
Apparently when the bus pulled up to my school, I refused to get off. It got bad enough that the principal had to come on the bus and physically pick me up and take me off the bus.
Back to the phone call, here’s where things get weird.
My mom told the principal that I didn’t want off the bus because we were going to have a fire drill that day.
The principal told her that, yes, we were having a fire drill that day. However, they never tell the students if there is to be a fire drill or tornado drill. So, there was literally no way I could have known about the drill.
Every year up till halfway through 7th grade year I had this feeling on days when we would have fire drills or tornado drills. I’d go up to my mom and tell her I didn’t want to go. She told me there wasn’t going to be a fire drill that day and she’d drive me to school.
I was right every single time.
