I don’t like people who think they’re better than everyone else. I don’t like people who insult others for not being exactly what they think of as “that thing”. So let’s go through this, shall we? I’ll ignore the ones where we agree, of course.

From the self. All magick is, at the end of the day, from the self and from that person’s own will. You may invoke a deity to give it a bit of a kick, but the deity isn’t doing the work, just helping YOU do it. 

To be pagan (depends, do you mean greko-roman? Then no. if you mean any non-monotheistic religion, then yeah you kinda do)

Of course you don’t. Secular Witches are a common thing. They’re those who simply don’t work with deities in their practice, and since all power and magick inherent comes from within the person themselves, that’s not a problem.

To be religious (witchcraft at its core is a religion. So you do need to be religious/spiritual)

Again, another misunderstanding of what Witchcraft is, and what it entails. Witchcraft is NOT a religion - the best definition you could have that encompasses all forms of the practice is “any system of beliefs, practices or traditions that features a belief that magick can be used by people to alter the world around them.” No mention of gods, I notice.

You are confused as to what “divination” means and entails. “Divination” comes from the verb “to divine”, and no, it’s not related to gods despite the shared word. “Divining” is the process of learning knowledge through some means that is not directly empirically observable. It is commonly used by everyone from tarot users to water-diviners, and though certainly a religious person could use their faith to assist them there is no requirement to do so. “Fortune telling” is a specific part of divination, and a relatively small part at that.

To be allosexual (the fuck does that even mean? Is it even a real thing?)

Ah yes, the old “I don’t know what it is, so I’m going to call it fake”. I will remind you that this is how cis people have discriminated against trans people for the last 2,000 years: “I don’t understand it, so I’m going to say they’re mentally ill”. Allosexuality is when you have an attraction to other people. The opposite of allosexual is asexual-spectrum.

I’m not even going to touch the inherent racism in this statement… However, I will say that of COURSE voodoo (and hoodoo, the more common alternative) are forms of Witchcraft. They believe in magick, they practice methods of altering that magick, it’s Witchcraft. Hell, they even believe in gods, specifically the Loa, so they even fit your narrow, closed-minded and bigoted definition! Oh wait, but they’re black, so they’re not real Witches are they? Get your racism off my posts this damn second.

That was a throwaway joke and everyone seems to have become obsessed with it. I was playing on the common stereotype of Witches being “hippy tree-huggers”, and a part of that image in the common mindset is a weird obsession with recycling (which of course everyone should do, fucking hell people).

To be a Goth (goth culture is derived from Catholicism and Satanism. Not witchcraft)

You seem to have missed the point of this list. It’s listing stereotypes of Witches that are common in the non-Witch community, in addition to the opposite of those stereotypes who think they have to embrace the opposite to not be a part of them, and then saying “no, you don’t have to be this”. One of the most common stereotypes of a Witch that mundanes use is “Gothy chicks dressing in black and talking to demons”. Whilst most Witches know this is obviously bollocks, a lot of newer Witches who are lost and confused think “but I’m not a Goth, so can I really be a Witch??” and they feel isolated and alone, because all they know of Witchcraft is what the mundane stereotypes are. 

To be a punk (is punk even still a thing?)

Yes. Just because you don’t know what it is or what it features in the modern day, doesn’t mean it doesn’t exist. This is allosexuality all over again.

To be anything except exactly who they want to be. (there are still some guidelines like any other religion.)

It’s not a religion. Yet again. Moving on.

Of course it is. All magick inherently comes from one’s own willpower. If you do not have that state of mind, you will be completely unsuccessful no matter how many “gods” you call upon. Witchcraft isn’t Christianity, it isn’t blindly giving yourself over to a deity or group of deities and expecting them to do all the work.

Don’t let anyone tell you that you need to do a certain thing or have a certain object to make magic. Magic comes from within, not without.

A Hex to Turn Joy Into Misery

Fill a small jar a half of the way up with honey. On a piece of paper, write your target’s name in red ink. Drop it into the honey and let it steep for a day on a sunny windowsill.   Name all the good things happening to them. Name their joys. “This is their life today. Come the morrow, all sweet things will wither.” 

The next day, remove it from the window and open up the jar. Remove the name from the honey with your fingers. Reach into their happiness and pull them out. Set it aside for now. 

On a plate, take all the ashes and dirt you can find around the house and make a heap. Sweep your floors, dust, clean out the fireplace, empty out the incense burners, clean everything. 

After it’s all on the plate, put the honey covered name on the ashes. Fold the ashes on top of it. Stir the name around. Make sure that it’s covered. All the ash will stick to the honey. “For all your joys, let them wither. When you seek happiness, find nothing but dirt and ashes.” Now that you’ve made their bed, let them sit in it. Leave the dish in a cold or dark place, away from where others will find it.

Keep that little bit of honey in a hidden area. That’ll be their happiness. If you ever want to pull the strings again, they’ll be your puppet. And if you ever want to give them back their life, dump the honey on the ashes and dispose of the whole thing.

Stone Wall Protection Spell

You will need:

12 small stones

A white or black candle

A compass

At dawn, light the candle and place it on a flat surface, preferably a tabletop. Lay the stones on the tabletop, but not too close to the candle. Next, say the following:

Earth’s foundation, cold and strong, In existence for so long, Of your might I ask a deed, For protection that I need.

Next, begin forming a circle around the candle with the stones. Keep the circle loose at first (the stones should not be touching each other), then begin moving the stones closer to the candle, forming a tighter circle around it, until at last, the stones are all touching each other and are in a tight circle around the candle. 

Next, use the compass to determine the direction of North. Once you have determined North, remove the northernmost stone from the circle. Place the stone in an inconspicuous, northern spot in the room or in your home. This will begin your field of protection.

Next, going in a counter-clockwise order, take the next stone from the circle and place it in a position in your room or in your home, relative to its position in the circle. Continue doing this with the stones, using the compass to determine their relative positions, until all the stones have been distributed throughout your room/home and your field of protection has been established. If it helps, visualize a protective field around your home/room, with the stones as anchor points.

Once the stones have all been distributed and placed in inconspicuous places, extinguish the candle. Leave the stones in the positions you placed them. If you must move one, or if it accidentally gets moved after the candle was extinguished, you must then perform this spell again to reestablish the field of protection.

Don’t have a compass? Make one at home.

Because they’re always cooking said kids in cauldrons and ovens - aka long cooking times at lowish heat. If you do that to fatty meat, the fat melts completely and the meat gets tear-it-apart-with-a-fork soft. If you do it to lean meat, you get tiny little sad meat bits that bring no joy to anyone.
