Thank you very much for the compliment but throughout the years I've learned that keeping it together isn't about how you feel... it's about the drugs man.

The Value Within

Most people would say that to be confident has certain responsibilities or requirements. Confidence entails a self esteem and presence of mind and demeanor that others can see and often bring to the percepetion of yourself and the mindset you may have when you approach new things, people or places that often are not your usual encounters. This self esteem develops over time when you find yourself humbling new challenges and overcoming new obstacles! It is a strong prime tolerance of those around you who can see your value who often find uplifting you to be more of a pleasure and not a chore. Have you ever noticed how hard it is to graft confidence in someone who feels like they dont have it? Personality traits aside, you can find yourself being uplifted when youre uplifting someone else. Showing value to the people around you can often help you find value in yourself.

Im on a "Journey through July" to find as many people i can uplift. I can tell when i am growing within my own confidence when i find valuing others and their journeys to be challenging but validating. So this month (and potientally the rest of the year), i want to keep count and maintain those who i can potientially uplift their lives.

Setting a goal and valuing those around you is a different way of looking at confidence. It doesnt have to be just composed of the broad physical ways of looking at confidence. Confidence is in YOU and YOU can give confidence too.

Hey! Thanks for the shout out and i appreciate the love.

Hmmm.... currently single and im stuggling to find myself interested in the mingle part of this new journey. Its mostly because im trying hard to get over a recent breakup and ive just been enjoying myself evolving and growing without feeling like im holding myself or him back from whatever it is we were growing apart from each other. I could easily tell this was a once in a life time type of love and man, i held onto it for as long as i could. You know, until you reach that breaking point where you can feel that the love wasn't satisfying each other enough to sustain actually being on the same page or being pleasant or interested in each others needs. While i continue my rant about a guy i haven't spoken to in what feels like forever, i constantly am looking back to thank him. WHILE he did in the end break me down and attempted to make me feel disposable, I am so grateful for what we had and i am equally thankful that he made me see that i needed more love for myself than he could ever give to me. He made me relish and resent the statement "If you truly love someone, sometimes its best to let them go". I always know thats the end of any relationship when i see that statement flashing through my head because its hard for me to want to look back when ive EVOLVED away from others.

Anyway, I am on this amazing path now... typical me. I turn barriers and burdens into my fruit for life. The value i see for me is beyond comparison now. I have a amazing job in marketing downtown with my own office, I stopped drinking and recreational drugs (mostly for my salary, the job pays very handsomely), Im in therapy regularly and i think its the best thing to do after a breakup....hint hint lol I'm taking my life insurance exam in the next week and im absolutely confident (Thank you INSURANCE EXAM QUEEN), I have the coolest kickass girlfriends (definitely a sex and the city type vibes- without the cute guys and the cornucopia amount of sex), I have a nice place (my room is always Martha Stewart approved), my lovely roommates that are all about "Sisters and growth"( sounds a little like my old sorority moto) and trust me, i couldn't be happier.

So, there's the tea and coffee so far for you. I really don't know if that answered your question but if it wasn't clear enough for you, let me break it down for you. Honey is loving, laughing and living for Honey. Right now, i wouldn't have it any other way.

The Stand UP Movement

In life there are moments where you know that the decisions you make will have an impact on your environment, the people, your personal comfortability and ultimately your future. If you’ve ever just taken a look on how the people you associate with deal with their own problems and then proceed to move about their day, have you ever noticed their body language? How they speak to people after? What kinds of activities they enjoy after a resolved issue? These behaviors after a conflict are called conditioned behaviors. These acts or verbal interactions determine how the person feels like the situation was presented, how it was resolved and the underlying feelings left lingered if they are weren’t completely honest in their confrontation.

These kinds of behaviors can rub off and influence how you interact with others, especially when you have encounters as similar as your friends, family, co workers, etc. Keeping a careful eye on the people you hang out with can help impact how true to your feelings you stay. There is nothing wrong with organizing your friends list from important to not so important (or how ever you’d like to refer them from greatest to least) and making sure you keep those in their place by asserting yourself in a “STAND UP” way, which is one of the newest modern and popular movements that are amongst the 2017-2018 peer empowerment movement. Standing up to those who are trying to keep you down. Those who choose to find empowerment in finding a better social network of people and finding a group of empowering peers who find your likes and interest prominent and who will help you encounter and deal with the pressures of adolescence and young adulthood with a positive support team.

The Guy on a deadline.

SO yes… i am currently dating (or at least trying to) this guy and hes a bit on the anti social side (very much a homebody) and while i am not of the such, hes helped me create a balance on being at home and being out and always on the go BUT so far we have made it work for the best since i will NEVER stop being on the grind.. I enjoy being around him, i enjoy his smell, his laugh, and overall, how he challenges my thinking in some situations. It kind of feels like he aspires to make me a better person but i always start to get to thinking about if hes bettering himself…and only because of some of the situations he puts himself in.

Well, lets jump to the gist of it…pretty much this guy moved to town because he wanted a new start and started working at this burger joint that i bartend at. Well, hes definitely cute and i definitely did not notice him at first. Shy guys never really caught my attention but he had a different kind of shy. It was almost like a puppy that wanted to be found. It was cute and i guess i kind of have a thing for nerdy kind of guys (they always seem to be the go-to kind of guy). Anyway, we started talking and working up to things and now we have been dating for a very long while now.

So heres where it gets too real. So, hes struggling to keep himself afloat here as any normal college age guy who is starting off on his own (fresh out of his momma’s house kind of fresh) and so as a helpful girlfriend, ive been paying some of his rent and his car, which i also drove part time because it was so friggin nice. Id like to think that i was being helpful instead of enabling him to figure out a better plan. BUT im literally the queen of planning so its not like im not helping him understand his options or what i could do to help guide him in a better direction, but he lacks motivation. The type of guy i like is someone who betters himself because its what they WANT to do, not because they have to. Its really unfortunate because hes in this situation and i feel bad for him but… i dont. Hes spent money on things he probably shouldn’t have and lacks a certain appreciation for himself and others that i find attractive in men. So obviously, there needs to be a change.

Hes currently talking about moving back home…which is 3 hours away from where i live. We are on the same page that I DONT DO LONG DISTANCE RELATIONSHIPS (that whole wishing-you-were-here feeling is sickening to me) It absolutely seems like he might consider the idea and just leave me here. I just know those feelings are going keep festering inside me and i just try to create distance so when the loss happens, im not as hurt. I know thats not the right thing to do (and would never advise anyone to do it) and that maybe i should enjoy these moments with him or even have a little more faith in him. My heart is telling me to fight for love and all that romantic comedy movie crap but my brain is telling me to let him go and be HIM. There is something im not doing for him or that hes not doing for himself that is making me feel like i cant help him because hes not accepting or acknowledging or even appreciating my help. Ugh, love right? Im a PHD student and im still trying to get a hold of this situation.

What i can honestly say is that im probably going to have to let him GO.I really need this guy, he means the stars and back to me but I never want to be the reason someone is going to stick around and struggle. I work 3 jobs and put myself through 8 years of the most monotone, self absorbed professors so that when i get older, my struggle will be my past. Whoever im with… will never struggle with ME because I GOT US. There will always be someone here to hold them up. Pick them up while they are so far down and to be REAL and get to REAL solutions to problems so that that too can be a problem of the past. One lesson i have learned is a very important one:

Everyone in your life has a deadline. It may not be soon but its just how life is. Take those moments and cherish them but also take those moments and make the best of them. Be better people. Not just for yourself, but so that others can reflect the respect, ambition, dignity and grace that struggle once almost knocked down but didn’t. Only because you had enough strength to overcome your obstacles and you were willing to help others overcome theirs as well. A deadline doesn’t have to slow down how much you decide to give, but it can define how much are you willing to take.
