Splash Mafia (Thread 1) (Closed rp group)
It was raining. Fitting for the mood. Makoto thought to himself as he held the umbrella for Haru and himself. They were all wearing suits usually reserved for parties or meetings, but most often for funerals.
Makoto looked around at the solemn faces around him. There were some that were crushed, some that were bitter, some looking vengeful, and some that were blank. Hell, a lot of them were already drunk. It was rare to have all the members present and to be completely silent. Of course this was no normal situation or funeral.
Tears burned at the back of Makoto’s eyes as the previous boss’s ashes into the bay water. He had to be strong in front of everyone. He had no choice anymore. He had been decided as the new oyabun of Iwatobi. He had to be strong for everyone, including himself.
The old boss had been a father-figure for him and was the kindest man in the business. He was a great boss though. Hard when he needed to be, and kindhearted all the other times. Everyone loved him and Makoto had big shoes to fill after his death.
"Tachibana-dono, Nanase-dono," One of Makoto’s many kyodai approached him and Haru, bowing. "We would be honored if you could speak now."
Makoto handed the umbrella to Haru and walked through the crowd of suits, his head held high. The only sound that could be heard past the pattering of rain on umbrellas was the clink of Makoto’s cane as he walked to the edge of the beach until he was separated from everyone. He cleared his voice before speaking to the crowd. “This is a sad day for all of us. We have lost our leader and friend at a crucial point in negotiations. I know that a lot of you are calling for war with Samezuka, but I ask you that we try to discover all the truths before mounting an attack on old friends.”
"Do not get me wrong, I will hunt down and kill anyone that gets in my way.” Makoto paused, holding everyone’s attention for a brief moment before continuing. “For now, I want all of you going back to your original duties. I will have men investigating. Iwatobi will not go down!”
Makoto was drowned out in cheers at the end of his speech. Everyone was talking now, no longer somber or quiet. He leaned heavily on his cane, old injuries aching because of the rain.
He looked out across the bay at his city drenched in rain, a chill going up his spine. This is the beginning of something big isn’t it?
Rain drummed against the stone pavers and umbrellas held by the many silently gathered, spilling tears for the kind man lost at the hands of his enemy, matching those staining the cheeks of the once prideful men who now held nothing but emptiness in their chests.
A soft sigh rolled its way off Nagisa’s lips, creating a small puff of a cloud before disappearing off into the breeze, his shoulders slouching further as his clouded gaze flit about the bodies gathered below his perch. Legs swinging absently, elbows resting on his thighs, fingers entwined, brows furrowed, lips pursed, he sat upon the roof of his van, watching the nearby funeral progress through his ever distant gaze, the constant wall of separation built up between himself and the others present even in this dark hour. He really had no idea as to why he was at the funeral, when he thought about it. Sure, the man was the leader of their group, and he was one of the handful of humans left in the world that didn’t annoy him, but Nagisa was hard-hearted. Showing any sense of attachment was to show weakness in his book, and grieving for their leader was just that. Only disgust was felt for those before him, and perhaps for himself even. He hated the sinking feeling in his gut, and wrote it off as suspicion and anger towards their rival group. He told himself it was just a nagging feeling of something more dangerous to come, and not a sense of sorrow he felt for the deceased man laying in an equally dead tree.
He shook his head clear of any and all thoughts, then slid off the roof of his vehicle, pulling off his dripping shirt and setting it on the dashboard as he clambered into the driver’s seat. Once inside and the vehicle was started, he turned around and off in the direction of headquarters. I’m not really one of them anyways. So, why am I here?
Soon after the bosses encouraging words, the others had began to leave, all but Rei,who had lingered behind. Most of the men were gone now. With Umbrella in hand, the man walked in the opposite direction,to another grave site. "Otou-san..." He took of the flower on his suit pocket, and placed it on the grave. He stood there alone, for a while now, staring down at the grave as if trying his best figure out an answer. He knew what to do,he knew what the man would do if that were him.
Finish what he started, that was one of the first things he'd say. That was the kind of man he was,and Rei,knew this. With a new resolve forming,he slowly started to turn away, and leave the grave and the cemetery behind him. He'd do what he needed to,the death would not be in vain.
