Secret Santa is back!

After organising it last year, it would be amazing to see it being brought back for this festive season!

Elizabeth Ross was born on a spring afternoon in sunny California. Karen and Thaddeus Ross were loving, attentive parents who doted on their only child. Elizabeth knew very little of want but her mother instilled in her a sense of fairness and modesty that helped shape Elizabeth's personality and sense of right. From her father, already a high ranking soldier and steadfast in his patriotism, she grew up with a deep love for her country and the men and women that fought to protect it. All in all she was a fairly typical, if bright, child and lived a somewhat carefree life. That is until tragedy struck and her mother lost the fight against cancer, leaving behind Elizabeth, just turned thirteen, and an grief striken husband. Unable to deal with both the loss of his wife and having to raise their daughter (still young and heartbroken over the loss of her mother) alone Thaddeus locked his emotions down and sent Elizabeth to boarding school instead of keeping her close and helping her come to terms with her own grief. At the time she resented him sending her away but over the years and distance between them she reconciled the idea abandonment with understand how grief could change the man she knew into the one that left her along and vulnerable. Elizabeth, now going almost exclusively by her childhood nickname of Betty, left boarding school with honors and entered undergraduate studies at NYU but shortly returned to her native California, transferring to Berkeley to continue her studies. She earned her Bachelor's in Mass Communication but stayed at Berkeley an additional two years to complete a Bachelor's in her minor study as well, Chemistry. When she returned to her childhood home, flush with the academic success and a more robust and confident young woman, Betty learned of her father's promotion to lead on the US Defense Department's latest project. Having wanted to reconnect with her father, and with his want to repair the bridges in their relationship, Betty accepted her father's offer to join him in Nevada. It wasn't an immediate, or outright success, but they were able to mend some tears and grow slightly closer than they had been in years. During her stay in Nevada, Betty worked freelance for the Army thanks to her father's influence and good word and as a result she was able to wrangle clearance for the base, if not the project itself, and wandered and mingled with the soldiers and scientists in the approved areas. Connections were made and among them possibly some attraction but none realized when something went wrong, an explosion, sirens, and a creature that she hadn't seen but heard bellowing above the noise and chaos. Afterward her father fell into obsession over the project and the disaster it turned into and sent Betty away, back to California. He hadn't quite closed himself off as he had when her mother had passed but it was another emotional blow that helped fuel Betty's decision to leave California. She swept around the country, amassing connections and qualifications, until landing in Virginia where she took a teaching position at Culver University. She would have remained there if not for an opportunity presented to her by a friend she'd made all those years ago at NYU.

The regret sat like ash on her tongue, choking her, when Leonard finally picked up on the other end. She almost hung up the phone after his initial greeting but he’d somehow knew it was her, called her name once or twice then just let the silence settle between them while she tried to find her voice. God, had it only been a few days? "We were happy, weren’t we," she asked, voice rough to her own ears and shaky with an emotion that was equal parts helplessness and grief. "I thought we were." Their relationship hadn’t been the storybook romance that she always wanted but when Leonard told her that he loved her she believed him. He kissed her like she was precious and hadn’t been embarrassed to hold her hand in public. It had been good and she thought she loved him, yet she had ran out on him. As soon as Bruce had shown back up in her life she had dropped everything to chase him down, to help him. "Of course we were happy, Betty." It made her feel worse because he sounded resigned, like he knew that she wasn’t coming home to him, not after everything. She wanted to tell him she was sorry, that she hadn’t meant for any of this to happen but the words felt lodged in her throat. She told him about the creature her father helped create instead, about the horrible fight between it and Bruce, then about her father and what she said. It hurt to explain, to tell Leonard, because while Betty had known her father could be deceitful - sealing all the research from the experiment after the accident years ago, lying to her about Bruce - she hadn’t thought he was cruel. But it all came out. Everything. She knew then how much he had lied to her, lied to everyone, just to save his goddamn career! Her hand tightened on the receiver as she hissed out her father’s mad pursuit of the Hulk and how it wasn’t to stop him but to capture him and use him as a test subject so they could make more creature like him. "The worst part," she hissed, "is that I helped him. I helped him when Bruce first disappeared because I trusted him to tell me the truth and to keep both of us safe. I thought he was going to help."

Prompt: Kid Omega wants to put up posters for his new revolution and he needs Kate's help to put them up in the girls dormitory to spread the word, either that or he sneaks in himself and Kate catches him - Will Kate help him or tell him off?

Setting: Breakstone Lake

Prompt: The lake is famous for its mysterious happenings. Erik has gone there for some time away from the simple minds of the school, whilst Tony goes there too to clear his head and spots him and wants to find out the real reason that he's in the school -- or how he even got here. Will Magneto cooperate? Besides, Tony's got some lingering issues with the future family of the magnetising master that need settling.

Pair: Coulson + Kitty

Setting: The computer labs

Prompt: Coulson wants to step up security but Kitty has her own way of doing things - Coulson has to coax Kitty to provide him with access to the systems since he's worried about the school and particular members.
