Re-Presentations is an anthologized collection of personal essays converging on the topic of the relationship between fictional characters and developing personal identity.
More specifically, this anthology strives to answer questions such as: how and why do we identify with fictional characters? How does that identification reconfigure our personal self-concept and help us learn from them? How do they change us?
Each chapter will introduce a different fictional character and explore the author’s connection to them, ultimately suggesting how fictionalized individuals can impact real people and cause them to understand and perhaps present themselves in a different way.
As mentioned previously, this anthology seeks to understand the personal relationships we form with fictional characters, the similarities that link us to them, and then the real-life effects that they have upon our lives.
Submissions can be up to 5,000 words with no set minimum. The essay must be submitted as either a .doc, .docx, or .pages file or through a Google Docs link AND be copy/pasted.
Previously published work will be accepted, and we do not retain any rights to your personal essay. Those remain with the original author.
The finalized version of this anthology will be published as an independent eBook, all profits, if any, being donated. The selected authors will vote on which sites the eBook will be sold on, price, and charity or organization donated to.
Decisions regarding selected authors will be finalized by November 1st.
