me: okay but. listen to me. the parallels from act 1 and act 2 are everywhere, we know this, but no one talks about the lines “jason’s wild/save this child” and “kid do you know/how proud I am (etc.)” not only does it show how proud marvin is of his child to be here, at his bar mitzvah, becoming a man, but he’s proud of his son for everything he’s done and overcome (like his father’s sexuality and the fact that his father left, welcoming a new parent into the family, his father hitting his mother, etc.). he went from believing that this child would need a psychiatrist until he was old to knowing that this child will do amazing things and holds his dreams and not enough people talk about how marvin grew as a father and his role in the bar mitzvah and-
